  • In this paper, we present the analysis of the characteristics of advanced mobile communication base station with multi-band about power loss, power efficiency and carbon reduction considering cable power loss. The advanced mobile base station system is installed on the outdoor for Antenna and RF part, and then the power loss is reduced because the fiber optic cable is used between RF part and baseband part. If the cable power loss is reduced by 5 dB replacing an entire the advanced base station systems, annual power consumption is reduced total 49,038 MWh in the CDMA 20W, WCDMA 30W, WiBro 10W systems. Furthermore the advanced base station system of annual $CO_2$ emission is 20,832 $tCO_2$ compare to 65,878 $tCO_2$. Therefore the advanced base system is confirmed considering green IT technology for the advanced mobile communication base station.

The antenna is installed on the signal lamp of important crossroad and provides the wireless communication link between vehicles and RSE(Road Side Equipment). The required characteristics of BIS base station antenna are omni-directional beam pattern and specific beam pattern by the road and install environment and installed place of OBU. To get omni-directional beam pattern of antenna, Array configuration and OMA are applied. The measured results of fabricated antenna are as follows; return loss of 640MHz by -10 dB, and a gain of 10.3dBi. It is found that the measured beam patterns are similar to design results.

  • In this paper, circularly polarization patch array antenna of RSE(Road-side Equipment) base station for DSRC(Dedicated Short Range Communication) of ITS(Intelligent Transport System) is proposed. The antenna of RSE base station for DSRC is designed to operate circularly polarization to receive reflected signal from multiplex path effectively. The proposed antenna consisted of microstrip patch and feed line, the slit is inserted in the proximity of the slot of feed structure to generate circularly polarization. The $2{\times}2$ array structure is designed to satisfying gain that DSRC RSE base station antenna required. Measured impedance bandwidth and axial-ratio bandwidth are satisfied by all DSRC band of 5.795~5.855 GHz. Vertical and horizontal HPBW of the proposed antenna are both about 43 degrees, it showed gain characteristic of about 11.21 dBi.

  • This paper describes the design, fabrication, and measurement of a low side lobe antenna for RSE base station of the ETCS which is one of the ITS services. The antenna is installed on the gantry of road side and provides the wireless communication lint between vehicles and RSE. The required characteristics of ETCS base station antenna are low sidelobe and specific beam pattern by the road and install environment and installed place of OBU. To minimize the affects of multipath signal by reflection, Circular polarization is required. To get low sidelobe of antenna, array configuration and weighting factor by Taylor distribution in radiator elements are applied. The measured results of fabricated antenna are as follows; return loss of 130MHz by -10dB, an axial ratio of 2.6dB, and a gain of 17dBi. It is found that the measured beam patterns are similar to design results.

  • In case of mechanical down tilting, a horizontal pattern is distorted and beam width widens whenincreasing tilt angle, which causes an expansion of hand off region and burden base station equipment. In contrast, electrical down tilting has advantage that horizontal HPBW is kept constant with down tilting. In this paper, based on a phased array technology, dual polarized base station antenna with electrical down tilting was developed at 800MHz band. The antenna has down tilting range of 0$^{\circ}$ to 14$^{\circ}$, and 15㏈i gain. We use stacked microstrip patch as a radiated element and apply balanced feed technique to improve isolation between ports and discrimination of cross polarization. The effect of electrical down tilting was verified by field test.

  • In this paper, 60 GHz indoor broadband wireless channels are measured with various configurations in a typical coffice environment. Mesurements are taken at nine positions of the room and the base-station antenna is placed either at the center or at an edge of the measurement room, and the remote-station antenna is either sharp beam or broad beam type. The rms delay spread(RDS) and normalized received power (NRP) are estimated from the measurements. Bit error rate simulations are performed using impulse responses for two measurement positions with QPSK/DQPSK OFDM modulation. Using sharp beam antenna results in superior performances than using broad beam antenna in terms of both bit error rates (BER) and NRP penalty. Also, placing the bese-station antenna at the center is superior to placing it at an edge in terms of BER and NRP.

  • In this paper, the design for a PCS base station antenna which is using broadband method by a stacked structure has been studied. The sensitive parameters, such as the parasitic elements, the height of air layer between the upper and lower patch, and the variation of feed point, of the microstrip antenna that has stacked structure in a characteristics variation situation are classified and the characteristics has been investigated through the simulations. A designed antenna has following characters. Impedance bandwidth is Z57.5MHz(VSWR${\leq}$2), horizontal beamwidth is $64.1^{\circ}$, and gain is 14.7dBi. Therefore, it is confirmed the characteristics is good. In this paper, through the designing of a stacked microstrip antenna, we has investigated the availability for Korea PCS base station antenna.

  • This paper proposed a method of broadband method of dual polarized dipole antenna for 700 MHz band base station. The proposed antenna has a structure that PCB feeder is mounted on the metallic radiator. The design of radiator and feeder is optimized by using 3D EM simulation. The proposed antenna(bandwidth 31.6 %) is broadened over 12.2 % through the lower frequency band than reference antenna(bandwidth 19.4 %), however the size is not increased. Measured results of S-parameters, radiation patterns, and gain have a good agreement with simulation ones.

  • This paper analyzes Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of a wireless communication system using BPSK modulation technique with a smart antenna at base station. The channels under consideration are Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel or a slow, flat Rayleigh fading channel with AWGN. Under the assumptions that the MMSE beamformer is used and the time delays of all users are approximately equal, we first analytically derive closed-form expressions for the BER of the desired user. Then, computer simulation is carried out to verify the theoretical results.
