The effect of chemical composition on the microstructural change and tensile property in TRIP-assisted steels with different chemical composition was investigated by using SEM, TEM, XRD and UTM. As a result of microscopic observation, the morphology of retained austenite could be identified as two types; a granular type in a steel containing higher Si and a film type in a steel having higher C. For the case of higher C-containing steel with a tensile strength of 860 MPa and a total elongation of 38%, film-typed retained austenite could be observed between lath bainitic ferrite. Actually, metastable retained austenite was a requisite for the good formability, which means that chemical composition plays a significant role in the microstructure and tensile property of TRIP-assisted steels. With respect to tensile property, the steels containing suitable Si and Mn, respectively, showed a typical TRIP effect in stress-strain curve, while a steel containing higher Mn content exhibited the similar behavior shown in dual phase steel.

This study has been conducted to investigate the effects of initial structure on the microstructure and tensile properties of high strength trip steel sheet. The initial structure before austempering remarkably influenced the second phase. The specimen with normalized initial structure showed mainly bainitic ferrite and retained austenite, while the as rolled specimen and spherodized specimen showed martensite plus retained austenite and martensite plus bainitic ferrite with small retained austenite, respectively. Two type of retained austenite, film type and granual type were observed in all specimens. The as rolled specimen appeared the highest contents of retained austenite owing to the compressive stress by cold rolling. The contents of retained austenite increased with increasing intercritical annealing temperature and austempering time. Tensile strength showed the highest in the as rolled specimen, while the highest elongation were obtained in the normalized specimen. The maximum T.S.${\times}$El. Value showed in normalized initial structure and increased with increasing intercritical annealing and austempering time. The highest Value of T.S.${\times}$El. obtained at austempering temperature of $400^{\circ}C$ and retained austenite of 12%.
It is well known that the fine bainitic microstructure obtained by TMCP(thermo-mechanical control process) secures the high toughness of base metal. Besides, TMCP steel is very suitable for high heat input in welding as it has low carbon equivalent. In HAZ, however, the accelerated cooling effect imparted on the matrix by the weld thermal cycles is relieved and thus the weldment of TMCP steel has softening zone which shows low fracture toughness compared with base metal. Therefore, PHWT of weldment is carried out to improve the fracture toughness in weldment of TMCP steel which has softening zone. In this study, the effects of PWHT on the weldment of AH36-TMCP steel are investigated by the small punch (SP) test. From the several results such as SP energy and displacement at room temperature, the behavior of transition curves, the fracture strength at -196$^{\circ}C$, distribution of (DBTT)sp and (DBTT)sp, the PWHT condition of A.C. after 85$0^{\circ}C$-1 sec W.C. was suitable condition for recovering a softening zone of HAZ as welded.

The effect of carbon doping contents on the microstructure, hardness, and corrosion properties of heat-treated AISI steel grades of plain carbon steel was investigated in this study. Various microstructures including coarse ferrite-pearlite, fine ferrite-pearlite, martensite, and bainite were developed by different heat treatments i.e. annealing, normalizing, quenching, and austempering, respectively. The developed microstructures, micro-hardness, and corrosion properties were investigated by a light optical microscope, scanning electron microscope, electromechanical (Vickers Hardness tester), and electrochemical (Gamry Potentiostat) equipment, respectively. The highest corrosion rates were observed in bainitic microstructures (2.68-12.12 mpy), whereas the lowest were found in the fine ferritic-pearlitic microstructures (1.57-6.36 mpy). A direct correlation has been observed between carbon concentration and corrosion rate, i.e. carbon content resulted in an increase in corrosion rate (2.37 mpy for AISI 1020 to 9.67 mpy for AISI 1050 in annealed condition).
The purpose of this study is to enhance the hardenability and the mechanical properties by the addition of alloying elements such as Ni, Cr, Mo and B for the development of Cr-Mo plastic mold steel with uniform hardness and microstructure. The ingots were prepared by vacuum induction melting and forged to ${\Phi}35mm$ round bar. Forged bars were quenched and tempered at $200{\sim}600^{\circ}C$ for 1.5 hour. Jominy test, boron distribution observation, microstructual observation, tensile test and charpy impact test were conducted. It was confirmed that the hardenablity of these steels was improved by increasing of alloying elements and further promoted by the addition of boron. The critical rate of cooling required to obtain the bainitic structure for 0.27C-1.23Cr-0.28Mo-B steel was $0.5^{\circ}C/sec$. Hardness and strength of Cr-Mo steels decreased with increasing tempering temperature, but elongation and reduction of area increased with increasing tempering temperature. However, impact energy tempered at $400^{\circ}C$ showed the lowest value in the range $200{\sim}600^{\circ}C$ due to the temper embrittlement.
Volume fraction and morphology of retained austenite, tensile properties of TRIP type high strength steel sheet with Fe-C-Si-Mn-Cu chemical composition have been investigated. The retained austenite of granular, bar and film type existing in specimen was obtained after intercritical annealing and austempering. The granular type retained austenite increased with increase of intercritical annealing and austempering temperature. With increase of intercritical annealing temperature, retained austenite and carbon contents increased. Maximum contents of retained austenite was obtained by austempering at $400^{\circ}C$. The maximum tensile strength was obtained by austempering at $450^{\circ}C$ and maximum elongation was obtained at $400^{\circ}C$. T.S${\times}$E.L value increased with increase of retained austenite contents due to the elongation strongly controlled by contents of retained austenite, but tensile strength was affected with various factors such as bainitic structure etc.
The purpose of this paper is to describe experimental results about the butt welding and bead on plate welding of the high power Continuous Wave (CW) Fiber laser for Ultra-low carbon Interstitial Free(IF) steel plate for gear part of car. After being welded of the gear parts by the fiber laser and electron beam Microstructures of melting zone had been mixed acicular, granular bainitic, quasi-polygonal and widmanstatten ferrite because of a radical thermal diffusion after welding, difference of critical volume and grain size. As a result of experiment, when gear parts were welded by the fiber laser and electron beam, the fiber laser welding has been stable properties without internal defects more than the electron beam welding. Therefore it has the very advantages of welding high quality and productivity more than conventional melting method. The optimal welding processing parameters for gear parts were as follows : the laser power and welding speed were 3kWatt, 30mm/sec respectively. At this time heat input was $21.2{\times}10^3J/cm^2$.
This study aims to examine the correlation between microstructures and the mechanical properties of two high-strength API X70 linepipe steels with different specimen directions and Moaddition. The microstructure of the Mo-added steel has an irregularly shaped AF, GB matrix with pearlite because of the relatively large deformation in the non-recrystallization temperature region, while that of the Mo-free steel shows a PF matrix with bainitic microstructure. In the Mo-added steel, the M/A (martensite-austenite) in granular bainite (GB) and pearlite act as crack initiation sites with decreased upper shelf energy and an increased ductile to brittle transition temperature (DBTT). Regardless of Mo addition, all of the steels demonstrate higher strength and lower elongation in the T direction than in the L direction because of the short dislocation glide path and ease of pile-up at grain boundaries. In addition, the impact test specimens with T-L direction had a lower impact absorbed energy and higher DBTT than those with the L-T direction because the former exhibit shorter unit crack path compared to the latter.
The effect of heat treatment on mechanical properties of 0.4C-2.3Si(wt%) steel with bainitic ferrite matrix were investigated. This steel has been synthesized intergrating concepts from TRIP(Transformation Induced Plasticity) steel & Austempered Ductile Cast Iron(ADI) technology. The low alloy medium carbon (0.4 %C) steel with high silicon (2.3 %Si) was initially annealed for 60 min at $800^{\circ}C$, $820^{\circ}C$ and $840^{\circ}C$ respectively in the intercritical region and then subsequently austempered at various temperatures at $260^{\circ}C$, $320^{\circ}C$ and $380^{\circ}C$ for 30 min in a salt bath. The mechanical properties were measured by using a tensile test. A detailed study of the microstructure of this steel after heat treatment was carried out by means of electron back scattering diffraction (EBSD) technic. In this study, a new low alloy steel with high strength (780~1,050MPa) and exceptionally high ductility (20~40%) was obtained.
