SIMULATOR FOR EVALUATION OF VARIOUS FUZZY CONTROL METHODS

  • As well-known, fuzzy control has been recognized to be of great usefulness in many engineering fields. However, the present design methods of fuzzy control systems depend on trial and error the thing that limits its usefulness. Therefore, an effective and convenient support tools for design and evaluation are greatly needed as well as the establishment of the design methods and guidling. From these backgrounds, we have developed a fuzzy control simulator[1, 2] which has various fuzzy control methods such as "direct method", "indirect method" and "fuzzy-PID method". This paper deals especially with the "direct method" function of the simulator. The simulator was developed for personal computers and programed in C language.

  • 7차 과학과 교육과정은 인간중심 교육철학이 도입되었다는 특성을 갖고 있다. 인간중심 교육과정은 학문중심교육과정보다 학습자의 경험을 강조하는 학습자 중심의 교육을 표방하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 우리 나라 과학과 교육과정의 개편 과정에 표출된 배경, 성격 그리고 목표에서 7차 과학과 교육과정의 의의를 찾고 그 과제와 전망을 논의하였다. 7차 과학 교육과정은 학습자의 경험을 강조하는 인간중심 교육과정으로서 구체적인 교육활동이 실생활 소재로 이루어져서 적용되어야함을 강조하고 있다. 이에 관련된 성과를 위해서는 현대과학이 가지는 사회적인 요소를 고려한 과학의 본성에 대한 교사교육이 필요하며, 실생활 맥락을 교육적이고 인식론적인 관점에서 연구하여 과학과 일상생활 맥락의 차이에 대한 적절한 교육적 구명이 요청된다.

미국, 영국, 한국 사서직 교육의 비교 (Education for librarianship in the United States of America, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Korea : a comparative study)

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the Korean situation of education for librarianship by comparing library education in the United States of America, the United Kingdom and Korea. The qualifications of librarians, educational institutions and the present trends of education for librarianship in the three countries are described and compared. It was not intended to find out similarities and differences as the three countries share no similar cultural and historical backgrounds. Compared with the education of the two countries, Korea has more ways to qualify librarians, more library schools, and lower academic levels for librarians. Library Associations or Institutes of the U. S. A. and the U. K. are involved in library education by accrediting library schools or library school curricula, but the Korean Library Association has nothing to do with library education. In case of present trends in library education, Korean institutions seem to lag behind in coping actively with the changes occurring in the modern society. Based on the findings, some suggestions are recommended.

Object Cataloging Using Heterogeneous Local Features for Image Retrieval

  • We propose a robust object cataloging method using multiple locally distinct heterogeneous features for aiding image retrieval. Due to challenges such as variations in object size, orientation, illumination etc. object recognition is extraordinarily challenging problem. In these circumstances, we adapt local interest point detection method which locates prototypical local components in object imageries. In each local component, we exploit heterogeneous features such as gradient-weighted orientation histogram, sum of wavelet responses, histograms using different color spaces etc. and combine these features together to describe each component divergently. A global signature is formed by adapting the concept of bag of feature model which counts frequencies of its local components with respect to words in a dictionary. The proposed method demonstrates its excellence in classifying objects in various complex backgrounds. Our proposed local feature shows classification accuracy of 98% while SURF,SIFT, BRISK and FREAK get 81%, 88%, 84% and 87% respectively.

  • 급속한 사회의 변화와 소비자의 인식변화 속에서 기업경영에 중요한 요인들 중에서 기업 이미지전략은 기입의 생존차익에서 그 중요성이 증가하고 있다. 현재 우리나라 기업들은 기업실체광고와 기업공익광고를 병행해 가면서 기업이미지를 수정하거나 창출하려고 노력하고 있는데, 이는 기업이미지에 대한 시대적 필요성이라고 생각된다. 본 연구는 1990년부터 약 10년 동안 국내 기업에서 행한 기업광고 사례 중 인쇄매체를 중심으로 비교·분석하였다. 국내 기업에서 행하는 기업광고는 그 이론적 배경과 크리에티브 설정에 따라 여러 가지 컨셉으로 구분이 가능하다. 기업광고에 대한 기초적인 이론적 배경으로는 인지 심리적 모델과 연계적 학습모델로 구분하였고, 크리에이티브의 설정은 임의 차별성, 경쟁 우위성, 고유 독창성으로 구분하여 6가지 사례 영역으로 설정하여 분석하였다. 이 기준을 통해 6가지 사례 영역으로 구분하여 국내 기업광고 전략 중 대표적인 사례를 각 영역에 적용하여 이론적인 측면과 실무적인 면에서의 효과와 문제점을 비교·분석하여 향후 기업광고 전략 수립 시 참고자료로 제시하고자 했다.

시와 도(道)의 도서관 발전과정과 현황: "한국도서관통계"를 중심으로 (Statistical analysis of the libraries in Korean cities and provinces)

  • 본 연구는 $\ulcorner$한국도서관통계$\lrcorner$에서 시와 도의 도서관수, 직원수, 장서수, 증가책수, 이용책수. 이용자수, 예산액을 수집하여 시계열분석하여 과거의 시와 도의 도서관 발전과정을 이해하고 현재의 상황을 비교하였다. 이 결과 시$\cdot$도별 도서관은 한국의 정치, 사회의 여러 가지 조건에 따라 발전하였으며, 도서관간에는 차이가 많고 장서수, 예산액 등이 적으므로 도서관당 예산액과 장서수를 증가시켜서 지역도서관이 균형 있게 발전하게끔 해야 한다.

  • During the last decades, tremendous achievements have been made in the application of Computer-Integrated-Manufacturing(CIM) technologies to the real business fields. It has been recognized as a primary success factor that one should establish its own CIM environments, cultural backgrounds and technology levels. In this paper, an attmpt is made to accelerate the modernization process in a nation-wide range of industries, and so improve the competitiveness of our manufacturing industry as a whole. First of all, various korea-specific CIM concepts which have already been pointed out by industrial CIM practitioners are consolidated. Three major views (activity-based, function-based, and policy-based views) that could be included in the Korea CIM reference model have been derived from the detailed analysis of the technical survey. Twenty-nine research themes with higher priorities in each view are selected.

  • A talented person in a knowledge based society is the person who has ability to create intellectual property value. This intellectual property comes from invention. According to several researches, invention and creativity have a strong correlation. And a manifestation of creativity is related to family background and parenting styles of a student. This narrative research is to understand creativity factor, family background and parenting styles of five foreign inventors in elementary textbooks. As a result of study, all of the inventors had intellectual curiosity, originality and sophistication. And despite economically difficult environment, they grew up in houses where gives an educational opportunity and their relationships with family members were good. Also at least one of their parents supported their decision and they participated in the education for their children.

간호학 방법론에 대한 성찰 (Reflection on Nursing Methodology)

  • Quantitative methodology has been the predominent methodology utilized in research in nursing. However since the 1970s qualitative methodology has also emerged as a useful methodology and has been utilized by many researchers. But in the use of this methodology, the philosophical, epistemelogical, and theoretical backgrounds have been neglected by many researchers. This paper reports a review of the literature on methodologies, quanitative and qualitative, used in nursing, and makes suggestions for future research directions. It explains why qualitative methodology has emerged as as effective methodology in nursing and discusses how the qualitative methodology differs from the quanitative one. A comparison of the two is made based on perspectives of humane being and human behavior as well as the development of nursing science. This paper also presents several views on change in nursing science, since viewpoint not only influences the determination of the current stage of nursing science but also the shaping of the future directions of nursing science and research. Scientific revolution by Kuhn, the evolutionary perspective by Toulmin, the transition of research tradition by Laudan. and convolutionary processes are presented. However, this paper indicates that it is too early to adopt these points of view, because the history of nursing science is too short. It suggests that nursing needs pluralism in philosophy, paradigms and theory, as well as in methodology. Although we experience paradoxes in adopting different perspectives in nursing, it is wise for us to continue to include a variety of viewpoints including those to which we are not accustomed, such as qualitative methodology, since we are not yet able to decide what is best for the development of nursing science.

Extraction of Infrared Target based on Gaussian Mixture Model

  • We propose a method for target detection in Infrared images. In order to effectively detect a target region from an image with noises and clutters, spatial information of the target is first considered by analyzing pixel distributions of projections in horizontal and vertical directions. These distributions are represented as Gaussian distributions, and Gaussian Mixture Model is created from these distributions in order to find thresholding points of the target region. Through analyzing the calculated Gaussian Mixture Model, the target region is detected by eliminating various backgrounds such as noises and clutters. This is performed by using a novel thresholding method which can effectively detect the target region. As experimental results, the proposed method has achieved better performance than existing methods.
