This study was made under the following hypothesis; 1. The family background of socially-handicapped children is less desirable than that of normal ones. 2. Personality traits of socially-handicapped children are less desirable than those of normal ones. 3. Socially handicapped children tend to be less adaptable to school life than normal ones. 4. Peer-relationship of socially-handicapped children is less desirable than of normal ones . II. Contents of study The thesis consists of the following five main parts; 1. Introduction 2. Related Studies 3. Procedure 4. Results 5. Summary and Conclusions III. Instruments The following instruments were used for this study; 1. Family background record prepared by the school. 2. Questionnaire prepared by the writer. 3. General personality test (written by Kim Ki-Suk and published by Korean Testing Center). 4. School activity record. 5. Sociocratic test. IV. The following conclusions were derived from the study 1, As compared with normal children, socially-handicapped ones have, in many cases, larger number of siblings, their families belong to lower economic bracket: their parents were indifferent to their children, and their mothers were less educated. 2. As compared with normal children, socially-handicapped ones are emotionally unstable, although they are the same as normal children in their sense of dominancy, responsibility, sociality, and confidence. 3. As compared with normal children, socially-handicapped ones are tardy in their learning, although they are almost the same as normal ones in their intelligence development. 4. As compared with normal children, socially-handicapped ones make friends more easily with pupils of other classes and schools rather than those of their own class or school.
BACKGROUNDS/OBJECTIVES: The effects of malnutrition on growth of toddlers and preschoolers by socioeconomic status are not well known. This study aimed to examine the effects of dietary intake on growth outcomes in toddlers and preschoolers by household income level. SUBJECTS/METHODS: The study population was a total of 1,687 children aged 1 to 5 years that participated in the KNHANES from 2009 to 2011. Growth of children was assessed by height for age (HFA) and weight for height (WFH). Children were classified into three groups according to children's HFA and WFH compared to the $10^{th}$ and $90^{th}$ percentiles of the 2007 Korean Children and Adolescent Growth Standard. Average monthly household income was divided into quartile groups. Dietary intake data were obtained by using the one day 24-hr recall method. Risks of inadequate intake of nutrients and unfavorable growth were estimated by using a multiple logistic regression model adjusted for sex, age, region, and energy intake. RESULTS: The low HFA group (<$10^{th}$ percentile) had significantly lower intakes of energy, carbohydrate, and thiamin as compared with the high group (${\geq}90^{th}$ percentile). For WFH status, vitamin C intake was lower in the low group than in the high group. Household income level was related to WFH status but not HFA. Children from lower income households were more likely to have high WFH than those from higher income households (P for trend = 0.038). Household income status was also significantly related with risk of inadequate intake of micronutrients such as thiamin (P for trend = 0.032) and vitamin C (P for trend = 0.002), showing higher odds of inadequate intakes in children from lower income households. CONCLUSIONS: Children from lower income households were prone to be overweight and to have inadequate intakes of micronutrients such as thiamin and vitamin C. To reduce nutritional and health disparities, collective action in the public sector is required from early life.
Backgrounds: In arid grasslands, wells are subject to heavy trampling and grazing pressure, which can increase vulnerability to local land degradation. To investigate trampling and grazing, we surveyed plant communities at three well sites in the desert steppe of Mongolia, using 1600-m line transects from the wells. The sites (Bshrub, Sshrub, and shrubL) differed by concomitant shrub type (big shrub, small shrub, and shrub-limited) and livestock pressure (light, medium, and heavy). A plant classification scheme based on edibility and morphology (rosette or creeping type) was used to separate grazing and trampling effects on plant communities. Results: Edible plants were dominant at all sites but a fraction of grazing- and trampling-tolerant plants increased in the order Bshrub, Sshrub, and shrubL, following livestock pressure. Clear transition zones from inedible to edible plant groups were recognized but at different locations and ranges among the sites. Trampling-tolerant plants explained 90% of inedible plants at Sshrub with camels and horses, but grazing-tolerant plants prevailed (60%) at shrubL with the largest livestock number. Plant coverage increased significantly along the transects at Bshrub and Sshrub but showed no meaningful change at shrubL. Herbaceous plant biomass showed significant positive and negative trends at Bshrub and shrubL, respectively. Conclusions: Both grazing and trampling can produce larger fractions of inedible plants; in this, camel and horses can have considerable effects on desert-steppe plant communities through trampling.
Existing usability testing method, particularly lab-based usability testing, has been widely implemented for development of user interface. However, the method has critical disadvantages such as high cost, time and effort, unnatural testing environment, and lack of user's direct participation in information architecture. With these backgrounds, this paper aims to develop the web-based participatory tool with particular focus on card sorting. Our tool was developed for allowing user to participate in card sorting with his own computer through web. All the data generated while user is participating in the test are automatically sent to the server, which makes it very easy to collect card sorting data. Users can drag cards of interface elements directly and build the interface structure in their own from their computer-screen so that they can represent their mental models on interface structure of testing website. These functions of our tool can help designers to implement card sorting without tedious and time consuming procedures and improve the method of usability testing by reinforcing user's active participation in building an information architecture.
The culture of each era make their own art, and it is certain a sense of beauty is changed according to a flow of era. We can find an unique beauty in the traditional culture of one era. And it is formed by the local and climatically influences according to their own ethnic character. Furthermore, an unique beauty is became an important element in forming the culture. That is, it is the universality in general. What is important is to develop of one's tradition on the background of the past for the future. This study is focused on the personal ornaments of women's Gache among the Cyubang culture in Chosun era. Throughout the study of clothing design that applies various decorative elements like an ornamental hairpin, a chignon ornament, and ttoljam among the women's Gache, this study is proposed to internationalize of clothing design utilizing the Korean specific character. The concepts of this study are as follows : First, grasp a definition and notion about Gyubang Culture of Chosun Era. Second, consider the definition of ornamental culture and the specific characters and kinds of women's ornaments. Third, analyze the trend and examples in the modern fashion applying women's ornaments. The method of this study included national science and literature, fashion magazines, newspapers, internet, and the research of like materials, with the intent to set a foundation for understanding ornamental design. Throughout these backgrounds, I try to develop and make six modern clothing design that applies women's Gache.
Recently, one of the outstanding characteristics in design field shows that design is combined with marketing. However, one thing shouldn't be overlooked that original marketing theories are not able to be applied to design in itself because of difference between marketing mind and design thinking. This premise leads the purpose of the study to aim to establish academic frameworks of design marketing by re-organizing conceptual elements of design marketing which can be more suitable for design environment. The study leads to review emergence backgrounds and circumstances of design marketing regarding the disciplinary characteristic of design. Then it examines fundamental concepts of traditional marketing. Next it, based on research results above, suggests the 4Cs as conceptual elements of design marketing which might be fit for design environment. Last it proposes 4C Mix which can be effectively applicable in design development process by restructuring newly suggested conceptual elements synergistically. The study result contributes to several implications in academic and practical perspective. First, it recreates theoretical concept elements of design marketing based on elements of traditional marketing area. Second, it suggests market-oriented framework which can be practically applied in the design development process by designers.
Acute respiratory virus infectious diseases are a growing health problem, particularly among children and the elderly. Much effort has been made to develop probiotics that prevent influenza virus infections by enhancing innate immunity in the respiratory tract until vaccines are available. Lactobacillus plantarum GB-LP2, isolated from a traditional Korean fermented vegetable, has exhibited preventive effects on influenza virus infection in mice. To identify the molecular basis of this strain, we conducted a whole-genome assembly study. The single circular DNA chromosome of 3,284,304 bp was completely assembled and 3,250 protein-encoding genes were predicted. Evolutionarily accelerated genes related to the phenotypic trait of anti-infective activities for influenza virus were identified. These genes encode three integral membrane proteins, a teichoic acid export ATP-binding protein and a glucosamine - fructose-6-phosphate aminotransferase involved in host innate immunity, the nonspecific DNA-binding protein Dps, which protects bacteria from oxidative damage, and the response regulator of the three-component quorum-sensing regulatory system, which is related to the capacity of adhesion to the surface of the respiratory tract and competition with pathogens. This is the first study to identify the genetic backgrounds of the antiviral activity in L. plantarum strains. These findings provide insight into the anti-infective activities of L. plantarum and the development of preventive probiotics.
Living culture, which is a pattern of peoples' everyday living, is influenced by the socio-economic conditions as well as ideology of the society. South and North Korean societies have been segregated during the past 50 years with different socio-economic conditions and idelolgies, resulting different living cultures, even though those two societies share the same traditional culture. This project was developed to identify the differences in living cultures between South and North Korean concentrated on finding out the current living culture of North Korean families. Based on indepth interview with ten people who escaped from North Korea after 1990, empirical survey with 158 subjects was conducted. The subjects with various demographic backgrounds were asked about lifestyles concerning clothing, food, housing that they experienced when they were in North Korea. This study revealed differences in many aspects of living cultures of South and North Korea, and relationships were suggested in three lifestyles. The study was intended to provide ground for more information to the following study that will explore the cue of integration between South and North Korean societies in living culture.
The earlier animations aimed to express the characters realistically by making the illustrations look like moving and alive. Since then, animations have been influenced by development of media technology, men's changed mentality and evolvement of diverse social phenomena, while influencing them, too. Among them, the computer which emerged first in 1946 has sewed to more diversify the tools for realistic expressions of animations, and further, enhance the intellectual power of expression media only to expand the new visual expressions and thereby, usher in a multi-media video information environment. Moreover, this technology or computer has urged every discipline to disintegrate its conventional order for the post-modernism characterized by polysemous, diversified, obscure and sometimes, mutually contradicting elements, and as a result, animations had to find a new breakthrough in the conventional reality (cognitive and reflective reality). Thus, animations have been real enough to be perceived impromptu and emotionally, faster than the logical cognitive process beyond the simple technological barrier or the screen image processing. With such backgrounds in mind and by defining such a reality as 'sensuous reality', this study aimed to apply Gilles Deleuze's, reality of space to animation films and interpret it.

Maintaining and expanding brand equity is regarded as an essential component of brand development. Effective management of brand equity leads to more opportunities for brand extension and the ability to draw in more customers. Brand equity, in particular, has a positive impact on consumer purchase intention. The purpose of this study is to look into the relationships between brand equity and consumption intention from the perspective of Vietnamese customers of India's COVID-19 vaccine products. Primary data is aggregated from 475 Vietnamese citizens with different occupations and backgrounds 18 years of age or older. The findings of the study show that consumption intention is positively inspired by brand equity, including brand association and brand quality. If consumers perceive high brand equity, it will have a higher impact on promoting consumption intention to the brand. India's COVID-19 vaccine needs to invest more in building brand equity in the Vietnamese market if it wants to increase the consumption choices of Vietnamese people. To create a good brand association and brand quality for India's COVID-19 vaccine, it is necessary to focus on communicating the good properties of the Indian-made vaccine such as safe, high protective effect, high immunity and protection, and long duration of immunity of vaccines.
