  • In an attempt to find a new class of bisazo disperse dyes with better dyeing properties, a series of novel bisazo dyestuffs based on 4-arylhydrazono-3-(2'-hydroxyphenyl)-1-phenyl-2-pyrazolin-5-ones $\mathbf{3a-f}$ were prepared by diazocoupling of p-nitrophenyl diazonium chloride with 4-arylhydrazono-3-(2'-hydroxyphenyl)-1-phenyl-2-pyrazolin-5-ones $\mathbf{2a-f}$. Compounds $\mathbf{3a-f}$ were subsequently reacted with acetic anhydride in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid afford the corresponding O-acetyl derivatives $\mathbf{4a-f}$. The latter products as well as spectral data indicated that compounds $\mathbf{3a-f}$ exist predominantly in the azo-hydrazone tautomeric form (H) as the ZE-configuration. Additionally, two series of the synthesized dyes $\mathbf{3a-f}$ and $\mathbf{4a-f}$ were applied as disperse dyes for dyeing polyester fabrics and their fastness properties were evaluated. Also the position of color in CIELAB coordinates ($L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$, $H^*$, $C^*$*) was assessed.

  • In order to synthesize the dye suitable for supercritical carbon dioxide(ScCO2) dyeing, a series of azo based disperse dyes were prepared using various aniline derivatives as diazo components and indol derivatives as coupling components. Dyeing process in ScCO2 of the synthesized dyes was performed on PET fiber at 120℃ for 2 hrs under 250bar pressure with 0.5% o.w.f. of dye concentration. The absorption maxima varied from 400 to 580nm depending on the substituted groups in aniline derivatives and the indol derivatives. The dyes showed high molar extinction coefficients(ε) of 27,000~61,000M-1cm-1. Dyed PET fiber exhibited excellent brightness and good light, washing and perspiration(acid/alkali) fastness properties.

  • The study has focused on the dyeing properties of 4 kinds of high temperature type mono azo disperse dyes, widely used in the dyeing factory, under the ultra low liqour ratio (1:4) dyeing condition. Among those, C.I. Disperse Red 343 and C.I. Disperse Blue 79 showed un-levelled dyeing results from the ultra low liquor ratio dyeing bath as well as poor dispersion stability under the high temperature. We recommended some leveling agents to improve the leveling behavior of these dyes mentioned above. The milling technology should be further developed to achieve the dispersion stability.

  • In order to improve the washing fastness of dyed polyester artificial suede fabric, it was dyed by using auto and anthraguinone type disperse dyes and treated with 3 different reduction clearing methods. The reduction clearing methods used in this study were normal alkaline reduction clearing, $N_2$ gas replacement method, and ultrasonic treatment during normal reduction clearing. The results were as followings ; The washing fastness property of dyed polyester artificial suede fabric was slightly improved by reduction clearing with $N_2$ gas replacement or with ultrasonic treatment comparing with normal alkaline reduction clearing. It was found that the use of $N_2$ gas replacement or ultrasonic treatment during reduction clearing eave effective removal of unfixed dyes on the fiber surface. We also obtained that the azo type disperse dye on polyester artificial fabric suede fabric showed higher wash fastness than anthraquinone type disperse dye.

  • In this study, 12 azo disperse dyes based on phthalimide were synthesized including their precursors. The chemical structures of the dyes and the corresponding precursors were analyzed by the GC-MASS, $^1H$ NMR spectra and elemental analysis. The dyeability on PET, such as step dyeing and build-up properties and color fastness were examined using conventional exhaust dyeing procedures.
