Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of intermittent feeding and cold water on performance and carcass traits in broiler chickens between 4 to 6 wk of age exposed to daily high temperature. Methods: Broilers were assigned to four treatment groups according to a 2×2 factorial design between 22 to 42 d of age (80 broilers per treatment, 4 replications). Broilers were divided into two main groups as feeding type (ad-libitum [AL] and intermittent [IF] for 6 h daily) and sub-groups as water temperature (normal [NW], 24.9℃ and cold [CW], 16.4℃). Heat treatment was applied between 11.00 to 17.00 h daily between 22 to 42 d of age. Results: Live weight at 6th wk was not affected by feeding type and water temperature, but the live weight was significantly higher in IF chickens at the 5th wk (p<0.05). Average weekly gain of IF broiler chickens were higher compared to AL group at 4, 5, and 6 wk of age (p< 0.05). Although feeding type did not affect feed intake in 4 and 5th wk, feed intake was higher in IF chickens at 6th wk (p<0.01). In addition, feeding type and water temperature did not affect feed conversion ratio and interactions were not significant (p>0.05). Water temperature had no significant effect on heart, liver, gizzard, and abdominal fat percentages (p>0.05). Conclusion: It is concluded that IF increased the average weekly gain in chickens reared under daily heat stress for 6 h between 22 to 42 d of age. IF in hot environmental conditions slightly increased performance without adversely affecting health, welfare, and physiological traits, whereas CW implementation had no significant effect on performance. It can also be said that IF suppresses a sudden increase in body temperature depending on age and live weight.
Since self-efficacy was suggested by Bandura(1977) as the most important factor that affects human behavior, preceding studies about self-efficacy are frequently related with children, and it is a main stream that only personal factors are chosen as related factors of these studies. Considering we don't have enough studies about family factors that reflect qualitative and relational factors of adolescents' home background, this study was aimed to seize the actual condition of self-efficacy meaning perceived and emotional faith about their own ability. These are our major concerns: 1. What kind of tendency does self-efficacy and appearance stress of adolescents, family functioning show? 2. How strong are relative influences of variables on self-efficacy of adolescents? This study was operated on July and August, 2002, aimed 378 middle school and high school students in Jeon-Nam, Mokpo area. 378 question sheets were used for analysis. Followings are results of this study. First, aimed students' average mark of self-efficacy was 2.09, which meant a normal level. And in low-ranked part, self-control-efficacy was the highest, and confidence task difficulty preference was following. Furthermore, whole self-efficacy showed a little difference from the demographic factor of adolescents. In low-ranked part, however, confidence and self-efficacy showed a somewhat difference. As students grew up, confidence decreased, and male students showed higher self-control-efficacy than female ones. Second, appearance stress and family functioning degree had a strong relation with self-efficacy. Family functioning, had important interrelation not only with whole self-efficacy but also with low-ranked part of self-efficacy. In low-ranked part, self-control-efficacy and task difficulty preference were proportional to the family functioning degree. From these results, we can find that the appearance stress was an actual factor that affected the self-efficacy of adolescents, and their self-efficacy was strongly related with family functioning degree. Accordingly, affirmative emotion in family, harmonic communication among family members and sharing housekeeping works had an immediate influence on elevation of self-efficacy.

Objectives : Since prostitution is multitraumatic phenomena, it is known that most women in prostitution have symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental illness. In Korea, new anti-prostitution law launched in the year of 2004 imposes protecting prostituted victims at government-supported shelter. The objective of this study was to compare the mental symptoms, especially PTSD features of women who escaped from prostitution with those of control subjects. Methods : We assessed 113 ex-prostituted women who live in shelter for 8 months on the average and 65 normal control subjects. Demographic data, questionnaire for sleep, physical illness, smoking, alcohol and drug use, Stress Response Inventory, Davidson Trauma Scale (DTS), Impact of Event Scale-Revised (IES-R) were used. Results : Ex-prostituted women had significantly higher scores of DTS, IES-R, stress related responses, sleep problems, smoking problems, and alcohol problems than control group. Age and duration of sex trade of the subjects were significantly correlated with the severity or frequency of PTSD symptoms. The degree of smoking, alcohol drinking and sleep problems were also significantly correlated with the PTSD symptoms. Conclusion : These results suggested mental symptoms did not disappear even after women escaped from prostitution.
This study examined the socioeconomic factors that affect self-rated health (SRH) in healthy adults, and the relationship of SRH to health-related habits, serum biochemical indices, and nutritional intakes. Subjects consisted of 1,154 healthy adults without any known disease, aged 19 to 65 years (average age of 36.7), whose information was obtained from the 2013 Korean National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey data. Of these subjects, 73 rated themselves as 'very healthy,' 460 indicated that they were 'healthy,' 568 self-identified as 'ordinary', and 53 put themselves in the 'unhealthy' category. The proportion of subjects who chose 'unhealthy' was significantly increased with higher frequencies of disruptions in their daily lives (p<0.05), regret after drinking (p<0.05), smoking (p<0.001), and higher levels of stress (p<0.001). On the other hand, the proportion of subjects reported as 'very healthy' was significantly higher with regular intense (p<0.001) or moderate physical activities (p<0.05), regular walking (p<0.05), a perception of being 'normal' in their body image (p<0.01), a decrease of body weight more than 3 kg in the past year (p<0.05), and without risk factors for metabolic syndrome (p<0.05). Serum triglyceride level was lower, and 25-(OH) vitamin D content was significantly higher, in the 'very healthy' group as compared to the 'unhealthy' group (p<0.05). Dietary fiber and vitamin C intakes were significantly higher in the 'very healthy' group than 'unhealthy' group (p<0.05). The overall results suggest that a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise, non-smoking, good stress management, and higher intakes of fiber and vitamin C, may be potential factors that affect one's positive perception of health.
This study was performed to investigate the stress level and health-related behaviors of nurses and to provide basic information for developing educational programs in the health care field. The subjects of this study were 197 nurses and 94 nursing assistants working at hospitals in the Kyung-nam area. A survey was conducted using a self-administered questionnaire in November, 2002. The results were as follows : The average age and work experience of the subjects were 26.9 and 5.6 years, respectively. The number of respondents in the shift and non-shift operations was equally distributed. The mean height and weight were 161.2 cm and 52.7 kg, respectively. Even though the average body mass index (BMI) and obesity index were normal in the subjects, 9.2% of the subjects were overweight/obese, while 28.9% of the subjects were under weight, according to the obesity index. The mean score of stress was 27.5 \pm$\pm$ 4.6 out of 50 points. Most of the subjects were highly stressed about the amount of their work, problems regarding their future, and relationships with their superiors. With regard to changes in food intake due to stress, 44.1% showed an increased intake, while 32.3% showed a reduced intake. The degree of health consciousness of the married nurses, those over 36 years of age, and those with over 10 years of nursing experience was significantly higher than that of the unmarried nurses, those under 35 years of age, and those with under 10 years of nursing experience (p<0.01). Fifty-one point three percent of the subjects thought their health status was unhealthy. Fifty-seven percent of the subjects had tried weight control. Their main reason for trying weight control was to have a slender figure (62.3%), and their methods of weight control were moderation in intake(45.6%), exercise and dieting (36.9%). TV/radio (49.5%) and newspaper/magazines (47.1%) were the primary sources of nutritional and health information for the subjects, and professional (25.1%) and the internet (13.4%) were ranked relatively highly. The food components of most concern to the subjects during meal time were (in order of importance) fats (51.9%), calories (40.2%) and salt (35.1%). The subjects considered 'taking a rest' (73.5%) as the most important factor in maintaining an optimal health status, followed by self-relaxation (56.4%), moderation in diet (39.5), bathing or using a sauna (25.7%) and exercising (22.7%).
A fixed angle softened truss model has been developed in order to predict both shear strength and deformation of reinforced concrete members. The model takes into account the contribution of concrete by accuming the angle of cracks in the postcracking concrete that coincides with the reinforced concrete principal compressive angle determined by the applied stresses. Therefore, this model is capable of predicting the contribution of concrete from the govering equilibrium and compatibility equations including the shear stress and strain developed along concrete diagonal crack. However, the model has a limiting range to be applicable for reinforced concrete members. This research proposes a new algorthm of fixed angle softened truss model capable of removing the limitation of applicability. The proposed algorithm adopts a new conception of constitutive laws. The average normal stresses of concrete in the x- y- directions can be calculated by transforming the principal stresses of concrete. The proposed algorthm is verified by comparing to the test results.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the caregiving stress and depression of spouses who support adults with physical disabilities, calculate the activity of daily living (ADL) of the disabled and determine the correlation of each area and the influence of their ADL on the caregiving stress and depression of spouses. This study was performed on 86 spouses of the disabled who were receiving rehabilitation treatment in two hospitals located in S and K cities from July to August 2016. According to the results, the total caregiving stress scores were $71.43{\pm}17.78$ and the economic and psychological stresses among low items were higher than the other items. The total depression score was $50.34{\pm}26.41$, which was slightly higher than the average of normal adults. The caregiving stress and depression were high for aged women, for cases of high caregiving expense and time, for young disabled and for stroke disease. Factors that affected the caregiving stress were the age of the disabled and the duration of their disability; their ADL had no influence on the caregiving stress. The result showed that the depression affected their age, disabled type and grade, and ADL. Actual policy support capable of giving economic, physical, and psychological assistance should be prepared to reduce caregiving stress and depression.
The Intermittent phenomena of the turbulent momentrm transports were closely examined in order to know the nature of intermittency and its fluid dynamic implications in the oceanic turbulent boundary layer. Also the connection between the observed intermittency and the bursting phenomenon was studied in detail. In this investigation, strong intermittency of turbulent momentum transports were found and the peak values of Reynolds stress (i,e., u'w') was about 408 times greater than average Reynolds stress (u',w') in the mid-layer and 270 times greater in the uppcrlayer of the turbulent boundary layer. These values are far greater than presently known maximum value, namely 30 times greater than the average Reynolds stress reported by Gordon (1974) and Heathersaw (1974). The distribution of Reynolds stress were extremely non-normal with the mean peak occurrence period of 5 minutes in the mid-layer and 1. 1 minutes in the upper layer of the turbulent boundary layer. Each teak lasted about 2 seconds in the mid-layer and 1.1 seconds in the upper layer of the turbulent boundary layer. Our dimensionless period of peak occurrence are found to be 33.3 in the mid-layer and 7.3 in the upper-layer, which are substantially larger than the often quoted values of 3.2-6.8 for the bursting period (Jackson, 1976). Some workers have interpreted that the intermittency phenomenon is the retlect of burst across their probe of the currentmeter (Gordon, 1974; Heathersaw, 1974). However, it was known that the burst can be found very near bottom boundary with smoothed bottom (i,e., friction Reynolds number$\leq$3,000) in the laboratory experiments. Through this investigation, it was found that the intermittent strength of the turbulent momentum transports does not conclusively indicate the characteristic feature of the boundary layer turbulence with a rough bottom (i,e., friction Reynolds number$\geq$10$\^$5/).
Purpose: The purpose of the study is to provide the clinical results of arthroscopic posterior cruciate ligament(PCL) reconstruction with preservation of the original PCL using transtibial tunnel and posterior transseptal portal. Materials and Methods: 36 patients underwent PCL reconstruction with achilles tendon allografts. We tried to preserve of the original PCL.At the final follow-up, patients were evaluated retrospectively by four measurements: Lysholm knee scores, IKDC grades, Telos stress radiography, and second look arthroscopy.Follow-up periods were from 12 months to 30 months. Results: The average Lysholm knee score improved from $66.0{\pm}8.67$ to $87.9{\pm}5.04$. Preoperative IKDC grades were abnormal in 15(41.7%) and severely abnormal in 21(58.3%), postoperative IKDC grades were normal in 6(16%),nearly normal in 24(66%), abnormal in 5(16%) and severely abnormal in 1(2%).The average side to side difference in Telos stress test decreased from $12.5{\pm}2.61(7{\sim}20)$ mm to $3.9{\pm}1.34(7{\sim}1)$ mm (paired sample T test, p=0.001) Conclusion: Arthroscopic posterior cruciate ligament(PCL) reconstruction with preservation of the original PCL using transtibial tunnel and posterior transseptal portal is useful surgical method.
66 patients with temporomandibular disorders were selected for experimental group, and 45 normal subjects who were Dental students were selected for control group. Average age of experimental group was 30.5 years, Male to Female ratio was 2 : 3, and their age distribution were teen-ages to seventh decades. Transcranial radiography (TR) with Denar Accurad 100 was used for each group to get the values of width in joint spaces and to investigate the bony changes of articular surfaces and relative condylar position to articular fossa. In addition to TR, clinical interview and routine charting about amount of mandibular movements and occlusal variations were carried out in experimental group. The obtained results were as follows : 1. The mean values of joint space with in control group were 2.15mm to anterior, 2.98mm to superior and 2.29mm to posterior and the value of relative condylar position to the deepest portion of articular fossa was 0.21mm to anterior. In experimental group, those values were 2.01mm, 2.14mm 2.22mm and 0.12mm to posterior in sequence, respectively. Joint spaces in experimental group, therefore, were inclined to decreased, and relative condylar position was inclined to retrude. Joint space in control group showed symmetric condylar position, but in experimental group showed asymmetry. 2. Non-affected joints with no bony changes in experimental group showed the narrowest joint spaces which were thought to manifest the abnormal stress to non-affected side to dysfunctional state of contralateral affected joints. 3. Amount of mandibular movements in experimental group were within normal values in lateral movements and in protrusive movement but in opening movement with or without passive stretch, those were lower than normal values. Frequency of occlusal variation, for example, protrusive posterior contacts, open bite, median line shift to lateral side were inclined to increase with bony changes and with crepitus.
