A Study on Development of Torch Rotating Mechanism for Automation of Welding of Corrugated Membranes (주름판 용접 자동화를 위한 토치 회전기구의 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In order to develop an automatic system for welding thin steel plates with curvature such as the corrugated membranes of an LNG storage tank, a rotating mechanism should be firstly designed for the torch to easily follow the weld seam with a constant distance and angle. In this study, a torch rotating mechanism consisting of three circular links, two square-type links and a torch link was proposed for automation of the welding process. A weld-seam tracking system with two axis slides and the proposed rotating mechanism was successfully simulated with a dynamic simulation software. A prototype tracking system was manufactured and a tracking test with the system was then carried out. The test results with tracking system showed that the rotating mechanism could be implemented and it was feasible to be used in automatic tracking of weld seam with curvature.

  • This paper proposes a new heuristic algorithm of a low power hardware allocation for Design Automation. The proposed algorithm works on scheduled input graph and allocates functional units, interconnections and registers by considering interdependency between operations and storage elements in each control step, in order to share registers and interconnections connected to functional units, as much as possible. The low power factor of the capacitance is reduced during the allocation. As the resource number reduce maximal . This paper shows the effectiveness of the algorithm by comparing experiments of existing system of the non low power.

  • Virtualisation in cloud computing is vital for maintaining maximum resource utilization and easy access to operation and storage management of components. Platform virtualisation technology has the potential to be easily implemented with the support of scalability and security, which are the most important components for cloud-based services. Virtual resources must be allocated to a centralized pool called the cloud, and it is considered as cloud computing only when the virtual resources are orchestrated through management and automation software. Therefore, research and development on the latest technology for such a virtualisation platform provides both academia and industry the scope to deploy the fastest and most reliable technology in limited hardware resource. In this research, we reviewed and compared the popular current technologies for network and service management and automation technology.

  • A laboratory scale storage facility consisting of a cold room, sample jars and a ventilation device was designed and built. Storaging sample jars (1.7 l) for fruit were fabricated with transparent acryl and provided with a constant air flow. For the supplying of air to sample jars, the air distributing system was built with solenoid valves, an air precooling coil and a pressure equalizing tank. To provide the programmable storaging environment of the facility a microprocessor-based controller was designed and installed. The controller was built with the 8 bit microprocessor (Z-80), EPROM, RAM, programmable peripheral interface(8255 PPI), and A/D converter. Softwares for the auto-temperature measurement and control of the storage system were developed and systemized in ROM. The automated storage system was applied to citrus storage, and the temperature of the storage facilities was successfully acquisited to the computer and controlled.

  • Rod consolidation is a method of increasing spent nuclear fuel storage capacity by disassembling fuel assemblies thus storing the fuel rods in a tighter array. It involves some basic operations which closely resemble to the material handling of a manufacturing process. But all the operations must be controlled remotely in shielded environment from outside due to the highly radioactive nature of the workpiece. In this study the status of the rod consolidation technology in other countries has been surveyed and a feasibility study for the conceptual design of this process have been made.

The proposed algorithm simultaneously allocates binds functional units, interconnections and registers by considering interdependency between operations and storage elements in each control step, in order to share registers and interconnections connected to functional units, as much as possible. This thesis shows the effectiveness of the algorithm by comparing the results of out experiments with those of existing system.

  • This study is to define the Automated Container Terminal(ACT) and container terminal system. Also, we analyze the present condition of the container terminal system in Pusan port and its automation level by systems approach. And this paper aims at evaluating on the priority of R&D investment until the beginning of the second stage of New Pusan Port Project(2006). In this process we have considered 8 factors (cost, labor, area, time volume, reliability, safety, convenience) to analyze 6 subsystems. The priority order of R&D until target year by sub-systems is as follow : Cargo Handling System〉Transfer System〉Port Entry System〉Storage System(Distribution&Manufacturing System included)〉Inland Transport System〉Port Information System.
