For the replacement of current passive data communication, Global positioning digital datalogger system using active communication is studied for the first time with in a country. Therefore data communication method and analyzing program of automatic measurement data is developed for the global positioning automatic digital datalogger system. The results of this study will be using real time automatic monitoring measurement of railway structures.

In this paper, we have described target positioning of automatic survey system. Target positioning error analysis shows target positioning errors are mainly dependent on the vertical angle of the triangle configured by target and two measurement points. Suggested target positioning error formula are confirmed by simulation using the Gaussian distribution.

This paper presents a development of an analog type magnetic positioning system and its positioning accuracy improvement using fuzzy inference system. As the magnetic positioning system used on a magnet-gyro guidance system for AGV(automatic guided vehicle), it measures a position of magnet embedded in floor of the work place. The existing product of the magnetic positioning system is very expensive in Korea because it is being sold in a foreign country exclusively. Moreover, the positioning accuracy of the product is low because it uses digital type unipolar hall sensors. Hence, we developed the magnetic positioning system by ourselves and improved the positioning accuracy of the developed magnetic positioning system using fuzzy inference system. For experiment, we used the analog type magnetic positioning system which we have developed, and compared the performance of the proposed method with the performance of the existing positioning method for the magnetic positioning system. In experimental results, we verified that the proposed method improved the positioning accuracy of the magnetic positioning system.
PURPOSES: This study is to develop a road traffic sign recognition and automatic positioning for road facility management. METHODS: In this study, we installed the GPS, IMU, DMI, camera, laser sensor on the van and surveyed the car position, fore-sight image, point cloud of traffic signs. To insert automatic position of traffic sign, the automatic traffic sign recognition S/W developed and it can log the traffic sign type and approximate position, this study suggests a methodology to transform the laser point-cloud to the map coordinate system with the 3D axis rotation algorithm. RESULTS: Result show that on a clear day, traffic sign recognition ratio is 92.98%, and on cloudy day recognition ratio is 80.58%. To insert exact traffic sign position. This study examined the point difference with the road surveying results. The result RMSE is 0.227m and average is 1.51m which is the GPS positioning error. Including these error we can insert the traffic sign position within 1.51m CONCLUSIONS: As a result of this study, we can automatically survey the traffic sign type, position data of the traffic sign position error and analysis the road safety, speed limit consistency, which can be used in traffic sign DB.

This paper presents a method for improving the positioning accuracy of the laser navigation. As a wireless navigation system, the laser navigation which is more flexible than a wired guidance system is used for the localization and control of an AGV(automatic guided vehicle). However, the laser navigation causes the large positioning error while the AGV turns or moves fast. To solve the problem, we propose the method for improving the positioning accuracy of the laser navigation using particle filter which has robust and reliable performance in non-linear/non-gaussian systems. For the experiment, we use the actual fork-type AGV. The AGV has a gyro, two encoders and a laser navigation. To verify the performance, the proposed method is compared with the laser navigation which is a product. In the experimental result, we verified that the proposed method could improve the positioning accuracy by approximately 66.5%.
In conducting indoor positioning by code division multiple access using spread spectrum ultrasonic waves, it is required to detect signals under the influence of near-far problem occurred by difference on signal power, caused by distance between transmitter and receiver. For discussing robustness to the problem, we verified measuring accuracy on distance from an experiment on a real space with a hardware device where our proposed method is mounted. The proposed method performs automatic signal detection by setting threshold level dynamically. As an experimental result, measurable distance were improved by the proposed method, and measurement errors were up to 50mm in distances from 1000mm to 6000mm; therefore, enough accuracy to realize self-localization or navigation for autonomous mobile robot or human was obtained.

The efficiency tests of automatic positioning transmitter (APT) using satellite on life jacket were carried out to minimize casualties of fishermen and to make system optimization for effective SAR (Search and Rescue) operation. As the result of the tests, average position was equaled on the comparison between SPOT using low earth orbit satellite and DGPS (Differential Global Positining System), but standard deviation of DGPS for latitude and longitude were 66.4% and 46.3% smaller than those of SPOT. The position precision of SPOT was almost two times lower than LGT using geostationary satellite to compare 95% circular error probability. However, the success rate of receiver for SPOT was revealed as 86.5~94.1% on the experiments in the South Sea and the West Sea and it was 4.5 times higher than LGT. Therefore, SPOT is expected to contribute greatly to the rapid rescue of victim.

We designed and implemented a fork-type automatic guided vehicle (AGV) with a laser guidance system. Most previous AGVs have used two types of guidance systems: magnetgyro and wire guidance. However, these guidance systems have high costs, are difficult to maintain with changes in the operating environment, and can drive only a pre-determined path with installed sensors. A laser guidance system was developed for addressing these issues, but limitations including slow response time and low accuracy remain. We present a laser guidance system and control system for AGVs with laser navigation. For analyzing the performance of the proposed system, we designed and built a fork-type AGV, and performed repetitions of our experiments under the same working conditions. The results show an average positioning error of 51.76 mm between the simulated driving path and the driving path of the actual fork-type AGV. Consequently, we verified that the proposed method is effective and suitable for use in actual AGVs.

It is very important to measure linear cycle plane positioning accuracy of NC lathe as it effects all other parts of machines machined by them in industries. If the plane positioning accuracy of NC lathe is bad, the dimension accuracy and the change-ability of works will be bad in the assembly of machine parts. In this paper, computer software systems are organized to measure linear cycle plane positioning displacement of ATC(Automatic tool changer) on zx plane of NC lathe using two linear scales. And each sets of error data obtained from the test is descriptions to plots and the results of linear cycle plane positioning errors are expressed as nutriments by computer treatment.
A laser docking system provides a centimeter-level accuracy distance from jetty mounted laser sensors in order to help a vessel to approach to a pier. It is very accurate & useful, whereas there are too many considerable problems. Laser sensors of the laser docking system need to be correctly positioned and installed on a jetty to allow for full range of vessels to be berthed and to consider loading condition and tidal variations. Above all, the laser docking system is expensive and its service coverage is limited. In order to solve these problems, CDGPS positioning method using GPS satellites has been proposed. This paper presents that, through RHDOP simulation, the previous CDGPS positioning method using only GPS satellites is not able to provide the continuous service with centimeter-level positioning accuracy. And this paper proposes a pseudolite-augmented positioning method for vessel docking in order to solve the problem of the continuous service on the previous CDGPS positioning method. In this paper, pseudolite is used to aid in CDGPS positioning. This paper shows that the proposed method can provides the continuous service through comparison analysis of RHDOP simulation results between the GPS satellite constellation and the pseudolite-augmented GPS satellite constellation. Furthermore, it is shown that the proposed positioning method satisfies the positioning performance required for vessel automatic docking at a test bed designed for performance evaluation.
