Development of a Clustering Model for Automatic Knowledge Classification (지식 분류의 자동화를 위한 클러스터링 모형 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a document clustering model for automatic classification of knowledge. Two test collections of newspaper article texts and journal article abstracts are built for the clustering experiment. Various feature reduction criteria as well as term weighting methods are applied to the term sets of the test collections, and cosine and Jaccard coefficients are used as similarity measures. The performances of complete linkage and K-means clustering algorithms are compared using different feature selection methods and various term weights. It was found that complete linkage clustering outperforms K-means algorithm and feature reduction up to almost 10% of the total feature sets does not lower the performance of document clustering to any significant extent.

  • With the steady growth of the content industry, the need for research that automatically recommending content suitable for individual tastes is increasing. In order to improve the accuracy of automatic content recommendation, it is needed to fuse existing recommendation techniques using users' preference history for contents along with recommendation techniques using content metadata or features extracted from the content itself. In this work, we propose a new graph-based music recommendation method which learns an LSTM-based classification model to automatically extract appropriate tagging words from sound data and apply the extracted tagging words together with the users' preferred music lists and music metadata to graph-based music recommendation. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms existing recommendation methods in terms of the recommendation accuracy.

Rough Set-Based Approach for Automatic Emotion Classification of Music

  • Music emotion is an important component in the field of music information retrieval and computational musicology. This paper proposes an approach for automatic emotion classification, based on rough set (RS) theory. In the proposed approach, four different sets of music features are extracted, representing dynamics, rhythm, spectral, and harmony. From the features, five different statistical parameters are considered as attributes, including up to the $4^{th}$ order central moments of each feature, and covariance components of mutual ones. The large number of attributes is controlled by RS-based approach, in which superfluous features are removed, to obtain indispensable ones. In addition, RS-based approach makes it possible to visualize which attributes play a significant role in the generated rules, and also determine the strength of each rule for classification. The experiments have been performed to find out which audio features and which of the different statistical parameters derived from them are important for emotion classification. Also, the resulting indispensable attributes and the usefulness of covariance components have been discussed. The overall classification accuracy with all statistical parameters has recorded comparatively better than currently existing methods on a pair of datasets.

Optimum Design of Ship Design System Using Neural Network Method in Initial Design of Hull Plate

  • Manufacturing of complex surface plates in stern and stem is a major factor in cost of a preliminary ship design by computing process. If these hull plate parts are effectively classified, it helps to compute the processing cost and find the way to cut-down the processing cost. This paper presents a new method to classify surface plates effectively in the preliminary ship design using neural network. A neural-network-based ship hull plate classification program was developed and tested for the automatic classification of ship design. The input variables are regarded as Gaussian curvature distributions on the plate. Various applicable rules of network topology are applied in the ship design. In automation of hull plate classification, two different numbers of input variables are used. By observing the results of the proposed method, the effectiveness of the proposed method is discussed. As a result, high prediction rate was achieved in the ship design. Accordingly, to the initial design stage, the ship hull plate classification program can be used to predict the ship production cost. And the proposed method will contribute to reduce the production cost of ship.

  • Classification of moving targets in Pulse Doppler Radar(PDR) for surveillance and reconnaissance purposes is generally carried out based on listening and training experience of Doppler audio signals by radar operator. In this paper, we proposed the automatic classification method to identify the class of moving target with Doppler audio signals using the Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients(MFCC) and the Hidden Markov Model(HMM) algorithm which are widely used in speech recognition and the classification performance was analyzed and verified by simulations.

  • The amount of incoming e-mails is increasing rapidly due to the wide usage of Internet. Therefore, it is more required to classify incoming e-mails efficiently and accurately. Currently, the e-mail classification techniques are focused on two way classification to filter spam mails from normal ones based mainly on Bayesian and Rule. The clustering method has been used for the multi-way classification of e-mails. But it has a disadvantage of low accuracy of classification and no category labels. The classification methods have a disadvantage of training and setting of category labels by user. In this paper, we propose a novel multi-way e-mail hierarchy classification method that uses PCA for automatic category generation and dynamic category hierarchy for high accuracy of classification. It classifies a huge amount of incoming e-mails automatically, efficiently, and accurately.

New Automatic Taxonomy Generation Algorithm for the Audio Genre Classification (음악 장르 분류를 위한 새로운 자동 Taxonomy 구축 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose a new automatic taxonomy generation algorithm for the audio genre classification. The proposed algorithm automatically generates hierarchical taxonomy based on the estimated classification accuracy at all possible nodes. The estimation of classification accuracy in the proposed algorithm is conducted by applying the training data to classifier using k-fold cross validation. Subsequent classification accuracy is then to be tested at every node which consists of two clusters by applying one-versus-one support vector machine. In order to assess the performance of the proposed algorithm, we extracted various features which represent characteristics such as timbre, rhythm, pitch and so on. Then, we investigated classification performance using the proposed algorithm and previous flat classifiers. The classification accuracy reaches to 89 percent with proposed scheme, which is 5 to 25 percent higher than the previous flat classification methods. Using low-dimensional feature vectors, in particular, it is 10 to 25 percent higher than previous algorithms for classification experiments.

  • In this paper, feature vector extraction methods and classification algorithms for the automatic classification of transient signals in underwater are discussed. A feature vector extraction method using wavelet transform, which shows good performance with small number of coefficients, is proposed and compared with the existing classical methods. For the automatic classification, artificial neural networks such as multilayer perceptron (MLP), radial basis function (RBF), and MLP-Class are utilized, where those neural networks as well as extracted feature vectors are combined to improve the performance and reliability of the proposed algorithm. It is confirmed by computer simulation with Traco's standard transient data set I and simulated data that the proposed feature vector extraction method and classification algorithm perform well, assuming that the energy of a given transient signal is sufficiently larger than that of a ambient noise, that there are the finite number of noise sources, and that there does not exist noise sources more than two simultaneously.

  • For browsing, searching, and manipulating video documents, an indexing technique to describe video contents is required. Until now, the indexing process is mostly carried out by specialists who manually assign a few keywords to the video contents and thereby this work becomes an expensive and time consuming task. Therefore, automatic classification of video content is necessary. We propose a fully automatic and computationally efficient method for analysis and summarization of spots news video for 5 spots news video such as soccer, golf, baseball, basketball and volleyball. First of all, spots news videos are classified as anchor-person Shots, and the other shots are classified as news reports shots. Shot classification is based on image preprocessing and color features of the anchor-person shots. We then use the dominant color of the field and motion features for analysis of sports shots, Finally, sports shots are classified into five genre type. We achieved an overall average classification accuracy of 75% on sports news videos with 241 scenes. Therefore, the proposed method can be further used to search news video for individual sports news and sports highlights.

  • Recently, users choosing a restaurant basedon information provided by blogs are increasing significantly. However, those of most blogs are unreliable since domestic restaurant blogs are occupied by advertising postings written by 'power bloggers'. Thus, in order to ensure the reliability of blogs, it is necessary to filter the advertising blogs which are sometimes false or exaggerated. In this paper, we propose the method of distinguishing the advertising blogs utilizing an automatic classification technique. In the proposed technique, we first manually collected advertising restaurant blogs, and then analyzed features which are commonly found in those blogs. Using the extracted features, we determined whether a given blog is advertising one applying automatic classification algorithms. Additionally, we select the features and the algorithm which guarantee optimal classification performance through comparative experiments.
