  • The author collected 146 men's stone models and 175 women;s stone models over the age of twenties, and studied area ratio of attrition of molars. Area ratio of attrition = (area of attrition / area of occlusal surface)*100(%) All data were analyzed by means of statistical method, and following results were obtained. 1. There was correlation between age and area ratio of attrition, that is, area ratio of attrition was increased with aging process. 2. Regression equtions and coefficients of correlation showed a significant meaning. 3. Generally, upper teeth showed higher tendency of area ratio of attrition, being compared with lowers. 4. Being compared with male and female, there was no uniform difference.

The sample consisted of three groups, the 20 subjects of normal occlusion group(Group I), the 12 subjects of class III malocclusion without facial asymmetry group(Group II) and 17 subjects of Class III malocclusion with facial asymmetry group(Group III). Attrition areas from canine to second molar on both sides in upper and lower arch, totally twenty, was marked by pencil and mesured by computer system(INTERGRAPH CO. USA) 2 times and the average value was used for date processing. • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the accuracy of single crowns based on the type of occlusal surface. Methods: A single crown wax pattern was fabricated in three types of occlusal surface. The prepared wax pattern was replicated with silicone, and stone was injected to create a stone model. The prepared specimens were scanned using a model scanner. Scans were classified into three groups, and each scan was performed six times to analyze the trueness and precision of a single crown. In addition, only the occlusal surface area was analyzed for trueness and precision. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis H test, a nonparametric test (α=0.05). Results: With regard to the trueness value of the occlusal scan area, the no occlusal tooth attrition (NA) group showed the largest error of 3.5 ㎛, and the complete occlusal tooth attrition (CA) group showed the lowest value of 3.1 ㎛. The NA group had the greatest precision, and the medium occlusal tooth attrition (MA) group and CA group showed a low precision value of 3.2 ㎛; the difference between the groups was statistically significant (α=0.05). In the color difference map, the CA group showed a lower error than the NA group. Conclusion: The occlusal surface with severe attrition had excellent accuracy, but the accuracy of the group without attrition was low. There were significant differences between groups, but clinically acceptable values were shown.

  • The zinc-based desulfurization sorbents for a fluidized-bed system were prepared by a spray drying method and the effects of the pH and viscosity of the slurry on the attrition resistance of the prepared sorbents were investigated in this work. In order to improve the attrition resistance, alumina sol was used for an inorganic binder and pH of the slurry was changed for its better dispersion in slurry. The attrition resistance of the prepared sorbents decreased due to the phase transition of alumina sol to gel as the slurry pH increased to its basicity. The optimum pH condition for the good attrition resistance of the sorbents was about 6.0 in this study. It was confirmed that the attrition property of the sorbents were varied with the viscosity of the slurry. The attrition resistance of the sorbents prepared by the spray drying method increased as their bulk density increased, while it decreased as the surface area and porosity of the sorbents. The optimum viscosity for the high attrition was in the range 400-500 cP.

  • Material and electrochemical characteristics of petroleum coke of the nongraphitic carbon prepated with attrition milling for 6~48 hours and heat-treatment at $700^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour was investigated. The milling condition affects the particle size distribution, BET specific surface area and interlayer distance of petroleum cokes. Carbon electrode with petroleum cokes prepared at the milling time of 12~24 hours and having average particle size of $6{\sim}8{\mu}m$ showed best electrochemical characteristics form the investigation of cyclic voltammogram and charge-discharge characteristics.

  • The reduction reaction characteristics and physicochemical properties were studied for the selection of oxygen carrier, which is the core of the chemical looping combustion (CLC) technology. Fuel conversion and $CO_2$ selectivity of oxygen carrier according to the concentration of reducing gas and the reduction temperature using three kinds of oxygen carrier (SDN70, N018-R2, N016-R4) were measured and compared. In addition, Attrition Index (AI) and BET surface area were measured to analyze the attrition resistance and the surface characteristics of the oxygen carrier. As a result, it was confirmed that all three kinds of oxygen carrier were suitable for use in chemical roofing combustion system, and the best particle was determined to be N016-R4.

  • Attrition is the loss of tooth hard tissue due to contact between teeth, and in severe cases, dentin is exposed, accompanied by selective corrosion and excessive wear of teeth, which is called cupping. If these lesions are left untreated, the size of the lesion gradually increases, breaking the unsupported enamel, resulting in a decrease in aesthetics and chewing function. In this case report, patients with cupping and enamel fracture due to severe attrition were directly restored using a resin with soft properties containing organic fillers. In the follow-up observation six years later, most of the filling of the occlusal surface was eliminated, but the filling on the buccal surfaces remained relatively intact, and it was confirmed that this type of resin was suitable for the area where the occlusal force was relatively weak rather than the area where the occlusal force was greatly applied.

  • This study is focused on investigating the relation between the particle size of silver flake powder and mechanical milling parameters. Mechanical milling parameters such as ball size, impeller rotation speed and milling time of the attrition ball-mill were controlled to produce silver flake powder. The particle size of the silver flake powder increased with increasing ball size and impeller rotation speed. The change of the particle size of the silver flake powder with mechanical milling parameters was analyzed based on balls motion in the mill container of the attrition ball-mill. The silver flake particles were formed at the elastic deformation area of the ball due to the collision between balls. The change of the particle size of the silver flake powder with mechanical milling parameters well consists with the change of the collision energy of ball with parameters mentioned above.
