A Study on Industrial Worker's Knowledge, Attitude and Practice about Occupational health - Chonbuk Province - (근로자의 산업보건에 대한 지식$\cdot$태도$\cdot$실천 조사 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to estimate the industrial worker's knowledge, attitude, and practice about occupational health and to provide the basic data for the development of industrial health services. The study was undertaken from January 15 to January 30, 1993. 549 industrial workers at the Industrial Complex located in Chonbuk Province were participated in this study. The results were as follows; 1. The Knowledge, Attitude and Practice leveles of Workers about Occupational Health. The levels were measured by five point scale. The mean score of knowledge was 2. 59 point out of 4. The mean score of attitude was 2.37 point out of 4. The mean score of practice was 2. 38 point out of 4. 2. The analysis of their knowledge" attitude, and practice about general characteristics. 1) There was significant difference among different age groups. $(P{\leqq}0.0001)$ -. The group of age 25-29 was the highest value in knowledge and attitude. -. The group of age over 50 was highest value in practice. 2) There was significant difference between sexual groups in all items. -. Male workers were higher than Female workers in all items. (P=0.0000) 3) There was significant difference according to the marital status in all items. -. Married workers were higher than Single workers in all items. (P = 0.0000) 4) There was significant difference among different groups of educational level in attitude and practice. (P<0.05) The value was positivly correlated to their educational level. 5) There was significant difference among the groups of job-part in knowledge and practice. (P=0.000, P=0.031) -. Office workers were higher than Production workers in all items. 6) There was significant difference among different group of job experience in knowledge and attitude. (P=0.0000. P=0.0387) The value was positively correlated to the years length of job experience. 7) There was significant difference among the groups of different monthly income in all items. (P=0.000) The value was positively correlated to their monthly income.

The Study of Marital Satisfaction, Parenting Attitude and Practice of Taegyo in Pregnant Women (임산부의 결혼만족도, 부모됨의 태도와 태교실천에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate marital satisfaction, parenting attitude and the practice of Taegyo and to examine the relationship between marital satisfaction, parenting attitude and the practice of Taegyo for pregnant women. The sample included 234 pregnant women who participated in Pregnant Education Programs in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. We analyzed the data which were collected by means of a questionnaire from June to September, 2012 and the data was analyzed with the t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, and Regression analysis by SPSS 19.0. The results were summarized as follows: First, the level of marital satisfaction and practice of Taegyo was relatively high. On the other hand the level of emotional value of parenting attitude was higher than that of instrumental value. Second, the group of higher marital satisfaction revealed a higher practice of Taegyo and also in the group of higher emotional and instrumental value of parenting attitude, the practice of Taegyo was high. Third, there was a positive relationship between marital satisfaction(respect, care, parent role, and housework role), parenting attitude(emotional value, instrumental value) and the practice of Taegyo such as food Taegyo, place Taegyo, language Taegyo, emotional Taegyo and behavior Taegyo. The significant factors influencing the practice of Taegyo was connected with parent role, housework role of marital satisfaction, and instrumental value of parenting attitude.

A Study on Soldiers' Knowledge, Attitude and Health Belief about AIDS (일반 사병들의 에이즈에 대한 지식, 태도, 건강신념에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: This study purposed to investigate the relationship between soldiers' general characteristic and their knowledge, attitude and health-belief about AIDS. Method: This study conducted a survey of 197 soldiers using a structured questionnaire. Data were collected from the 10th to 30th of May 2003. Result: The average age of the participants was 21.6 years, 78.2% of them were undergraduates of universities, and by religion the number of Christians was largest. In addition, 81.2% of them had lived with their parents and siblings before they joined the army and most of them were unmarried. Of the subjects, 75.1% finished education about AIDS, 64.5% experienced a sexual intercourse and 6.3% experienced a venereal disease. The participants' knowledge level about AIDS was 14.6 out of 20 points and their attitude about AIDS is 3.96 out of 5 points on the average. Their health-belief about AIDS was 4.0 out of 5 points in 'perceived benefits,' 2.9 in 'perceived barriers,' 2.6 in 'perceived seriousness' and 2.6 in 'perceived sensitivity. Among the subjects' general characteristics, religion was found to be a statistically significant variable for their knowledge level about AIDS. A variable that is statistically significant for the subjects' attitude toward AIDS was families they had lived together before joining the army. Statistically significant variables for the subjects' health-belief about AIDS were perceived sensitivity and experience in venereal diseases, perceived benefits and AIDS education and perceived barriers and marital status. The subjects' knowledge about AIDS was in a statistically significant correlation with their attitude toward AIDS, and their attitude toward AIDS with perceived benefits. Conclusion: According to the results of this study. those who had had AIDS education appeared to have high attitude and health-belief concerning AIDS. Thus it is necessary to execute AIDS education systematically and continuously in order to have right attitude and high health-belief concerning AIDS.

A study on work value factors and professional attitude factors of dental hygiene students in parts (일부 치위생과 학생의 직업가치요인과 전문직 태도요인에 관한 연구)

  • Objectives : The objective of this study is to investigate the work value factors and the professional attitude factors of dental hygienists and provide basic data for dental hygiene curricula. Methods : A total of 329 dental hygiene students in 4 universities completed the questionnaire which consisted of 15 questions for the work value factors and 10 questions for the professional attitude factors. Correlation between the work value factors and the professional attitude factors was analyzed. Results : The "students with no clinical practice experience (4.34 points)" were seen to be statistically significant (p= .013) in the work value factors, as compared to the "students with clinical practice experience (4.19 points)". In accordance with the grade level (p= .000), conformity in aptitude (p= .022), satisfaction level for the major (p= .000), desired duration of career (p= .009), and presence of recommendation for dental hygiene department (p= .000), the professional attitude factors had statistically significant differences. The higher the scores of the work value factors of dental hygiene students, the higher the scores of the professional attitude factors appeared, there by showing a positive (+) correlation (r= .367). Conclusions : For the cultivation of work value factors and professional attitude factors for dental hygiene students, it is necessary to improve the educational system that reflects the operation of a counseling and mentoring by the utilization of structured personality type testing tools and an improvement of interpersonal relationships.

From Financial Literacy to Financial Capability: A Preliminary Study of Difference Generations in Informal Labor Market

  • This study aims to investigate whether financial attitude links financial literacy to financial capability. To make sound financial decisions, one essentially requires a certain level of financial literacy - knowledge and skill in finance. Even more effective is when one's financial literacy could be developed into financial capability. The samples comprised 342 individuals from informal labor in the South of Thailand. The stratified multistage sampling technique was utilized to select the respondents, while the interview questionnaires were used to collect the data. By using SmartPLS 3.0, the data analysis included descriptive statistics and structural equation modeling (SEM). The result revealed that the one with the highest debt was Gen Y compared to Gen B and Gen X. Considering financial literacy, financial attitude, and financial capacity across generations, it was found that Gen Y had the highest average score in financial literacy and financial capacity, higher than that of Gen X and Gen B. The impact of financial literacy on financial capability through financial attitude, it was found that the impact on Gen B was higher than that of Gen X and Gen Y. With the right financial attitude, people of all generations would be equipped with a higher level of financial capability.

Knowledge and Attitude toward Cancer Pain Management: Clinical Nurses Versus Doctors (간호사와 의사의 암성 통증관리에 대한 지식과 태도)

  • Purpose: This study is purposed to provide basic data needed in constructing the educational contents about cancer pain management for the health care professionals. Methods: This study surveyed the degree of knowledge in cancer pain management of clinical nurses and doctors. Subjects were clinical 143 nurses and 88 doctors in 3 cities. The tool used are 32-item scale for evaluation of health care professionals' knowledge modified by Kim(1997), which was originally developed by McCaffery and Ferrel(1995). Results: The level of the health care professionals' knowledge about and attitude toward pain management were insufficient. The level of the doctors' knowledge and attitude showed higher score than those of the nurses'. The knowledge of health professional who were not hesitated to administrate analgesia was showed more higher than who were hesitated to do. Conclusion: Nurses need more knowledge and effective attitude toward cancer pain management. Various and sufficient educational program about cancer pain management can be contribute to improve the nursing quality of cancer pain.

The effect of sex education program on high school girls' knowledge and attitude toward sex (성교육 프로그램이 여고생의 성지식과 성태도에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to develope sex education program for high school girls and to verify the effectiveness of the program in terms of improving the knowledge and attitude of them after executing the program. The subjects of study are 126 girls from K high school in Changwon city and they are divided into an experimental group and control group, and each group has 63 students. The program is executed 8 sessions during 8 weeks and the necessary time is 50 minutes for each session. The experimental group who has received sex education shows higher level of sex knowledge after sex education than control group, and the experimental group shows higher level of sound attitude toward sexual matters after sex education. The effect of education regarding sexual knowledge and attitude in an experimental group are lasted even after the education is finished. Conclusionally, these results shows that the sex education program which is developed for this study is effective.

Comparison of Attitude Toward Elders, Cognitive Level, and Mood State According to Living Arrangement of the Elderly (노인의 동거유형에 따른 노인에 대한 태도, 인지기능, 기분상태 비교)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the degree of attitude toward elders, cognitive level, and mood state by living arrangements of the elderly. Method: The subjects consisted of 238 elderly who divided by living arrangements(living alone, living with spouse, living with children). The data were collected by structured questionnaire that included general characteristics, attitude toward elders, MMSE-K and mood state scale, from March to December, 2005. The collected data were analyzed by Windows SPSS program including descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2-test$, Fisher's exact test, ANCOVA, $Scheff{\grave{e}}$ test and Pearson Correlation Coefficient. Results: In MMSE-K and mood state, there were statistically significant differences among the three groups. In depression and anxiety factor of mood state, the living alone group showed higher scores than the other two groups. There was a positive correlation between attitude toward elders and MMSE-K in the elderly living with a spouse group and a negative correlation between MMSE-K and mood state in all three groups. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop a supportive program for decreasing the risk of health in the elderly and perform a differential approach according to their living arrangementa. Especially, more concern and intervention are needed to be performed for the elderly living in solitude.

The Impacts of a Community Health Practitioner's Ego State, and Interpersonal Attitude on Depression (보건진료원의 자아상태 및 대인태도가 우울에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: Community health practitioners (CHP) in Korea have a responsibility for delivering primary health care to remote or isolated communities. The aim of this paper is to analyze CHPs' level of depression and impacts of their Ego state and interpersonal attitude in transactional analysis on depression. This paper gives fundamental data for developing a the program for mental health promotion of CHPs. Method: The subjects Of this Study consisted of 459 Korean CHP who were conveniently selected from the target population. The data was collected through interviews using self-administered questionnaires, including the Korean Ego gram and life position inventory and depression scale. Results: The CHP's Ego gram showed the N type with the top point of NP. The type of interpersonal attitude was I'M OK - YOU'RE OK (I+U++). The level of depression was 35.4, normal range. There was a significant difference in depression according to the duration of the career. There was a significant negative correlation among NP, A, FC ego states, interpersonal OK and depression, and a significant positive correlation between interpersonal Not-OK and depression. The NP, A, FC ego states and interpersonal Not-OK were significant predictors (47.1%) of depression. Conclusion: This study showed that a program for CHPs to should include increasing the function of ego states and positive interpersonal attitude.

Knowledge, Attitude, and Performance Competence on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation in Football Players (축구선수의 기본심폐소생술에 대한 지식, 태도 및 수행능력)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine difference in knowledge level, attitude and performance competence on CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) in football players. For this, questionnaire survey was carried out from October 5, 2011 to October 19 targeting 234 football players of high schools and universities where are located in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Gangwon-do Province. The collected data was carried out frequency, t-test ANOVA, and correlation analysis by using SPSS/PC 19.0 for Windows. All the statistical analyses were set for significance level in p<.05. The results are as follows. Knowledge level, attitude and performance competence on CPR according to football players' general characteristics were indicated to have influence upon gender, academic background, and the appearance of educational experience in CPR. It was indicated that there is difference between CPR-related characteristics, and knowledge level, attitude & performance competence. Also, it was indicated that there is correlation among knowledge level, attitude and performance competence on CPR in football players. Based on these results, it accurately grasps experience and knowledge level on CPR in football players, thereby making a place available for having a game with security, resulting in being considered to possibly make the better sports.
