전기수력학적 미립화에서 교류 주파수가 액적 분열에 미치는 영향 (Influence of AC Frequency on the Liquid Breakup in Electrohydrodynamic Atomization)

  • Liquid breakup under the variation of AC frequency has been studied experimentally in the electrohydrodynamic atomization. The effect of parameters such as charging voltage, flow rate, nozzle tip inner diameter and power frequency have been considered. This work was performed to investigate the experimental analysis for the effect of AC frequency on breakup process, the mapping of occurrence of disintegration region, and the relationship between the applied power and the droplet radius. The experimental results show that the increase of applied voltage in a certain frequency band leads to a reduction in the droplet size within the limits from 50Hz to 400Hz. The transition phenomena from dripping mode to spindle mode were observed under the band of sudden fall of droplet radius changing ratio, and the synchronous region were produced within the range of applied voltage from 5kV to 6kV.

미세버블 디젤 연료의 분사율과 미시적 분무특성에 대한 연구 (Investigation on Injection Rate and Microscopic Spray Characteristics of Fine Bubble Diesel Fuel)

  • This study aims to investigate injection rate and microscopic spray characteristics of diesel fuel containing fine air bubble (FBD). fine bubble was generated by cavitation theory using bubble generator. Fuel spray was injected into constant volume chamber and visualized by high speed camera. The injection rate data was acquired with bosch tube method. Injection rate of finebubble diesel was very similar with that of diesel. It showed slightly faster injection start by 5 ㎲ attributed to the low viscosity characteristics. In microscopic spray visualization, fine bubble diesel spray showed unsymmetric spray shape compared with diesel spray. It also showed very vigorous spray atomization performance during initial spray development. Improved atomization was also attributed to the low viscosity and surface tension of finebubble diesel fuel.

  • Co-based amorphous powder was produced by a new atomization process "Spinning Water Atomization Process (SWAP)", having rapid super-cooling rate. The composition of the alloys was ($(Co_{0.95}Fe_{0.05})_{1-x}Cr_x$)$_{75}Si_{15}B_{10}$ (x=0, 0.025, 0.05, 0.075). The powders became the amorphous state even if particle size was up to about $500{\mu}m$. The coercive force of powders was about 0.35 - 0.7 Oe. Furthermore, Co-based amorphous powder cores with glass binders were made by cold-pressing and sintering methods. The initial permeability of the core in the frequency range up to 100 kHz was about 110, and the core loss at 100 kHz for Bm = 0.1 T was $350kW/m^3$.

  • This work was conducted to figure out the atomization characteristics of three types of bio-diesel fuels using a common-rail injection system. The process of spray development was visualized by using a spray visualization system composed of a Nd:YAG laser and an ICCD camera, The spray tip penetrations were analyzed based on the frozen images from the spray visualization system. On the other hand, the microscopic atomization characteristics such as the distributions of SMD and axial mean velocity were measured by using a phase Doppler particle analyzer system, It is revealed that the sprays of the bio-diesel fuels have larger SMD than that of diesel fuel mainly due to high viscosity of bio-diesel. Different characteristics of bio-diesel fuels were also measured in spray tip penetrations according to the fuels and mixing ration.

  • Spray as a liquid atomization technique has wide applications of combustion, painting, chemical, medical and agricultural purpose, and so on. Capillary tubes and expansion valves, as an expansion device of vapor compression type refrigerators, has been used from the early time. But there are some problems in practice, the former can't control refrigerant flowrate exactly and the later most of imported are expensive relatively and has some difficulties to install. Choosing an injector as a new concept of expansion device of refrigerator in this study to improve such troubles of the coming expansion device, the refrigerant spray behavior and refrigeration characteristics are evaluated experimentally. It is verified that the injector with a good function of refrigerant atomization plays a desirable role of refrigerant expansion in the actual refrigeration cycle.

  • An experimental study is performed on atomization characteristics and stable operating condition for injection of high viscous waste vegetable oil using effervescent atomizer with two aerator tubes. Consideration is given to the effects of ALR and liquid viscosity on the velocity and mean diameter of the injected droplet. It is found that (i) as ALR increases, the axial velocity of the droplet is increased, while half-velocity width and SMD are decreased regardless of the change in liquid viscosities, (ii) the rate of fine drop distribution occupied in the total spray field is increased with an increasing in ALR, and (iii) the effect of viscosity on atomization characteristics is minor.

  • Close-coupled atomizers are of great interest and controlling their performance parameters is critical for metal powder producing and spray forming industries. In this study, designed close-coupled nozzle systems were used to investigate the effect of the nozzle types and protrusion length of the melt delivery tube on the pressure formation at the melt delivery tube tip. The observed metal flow rate was not behaving as what was earlier assumed, namely that, deeper aspiration enhanced metal flow rate. Higher aspiration pressure at the tip of the melt delivery tube increases the stability of atomization process.

  • The hypereutectic Al-20 wt%Si powders including some amount of Cu, Fe, Mg, Mn were prepared by a gas atomization process. In order to get highly densified Al-Si bulk specimens, the as-atomized and sieved powders were extruded at $500^{\circ}C$, Microstructure and tensile properties of the extruded Al-Si alloys were investigated in this study. Relative density of the extruded samples was over 98%. Ultimate tensile strength (UTS) in stress-strain curves of the extruded powders increased after T6 heat treatments. Elongation of the samples was also increased from 1.4% to 3.2%. The fracture surfaces of the tested pieces showed a fine microstructure and the average grain size was about $1{\mu}m$.

  • Improvement of the atomization characteristics by adopting the air-shrouded injector has been considered as one of the important methods for decreasing HC emissions in SI engines. Thus, in this study to develop air-shrouded injector with a finer spray, atomization characteristics of differ-ent types of commercial air-shrouded injectors were investigated through the spray imaging and the drop size measurements. As a results, it was found that the internal mixing type of air-shroud-ed injector had a good atomization characteristics. But, a number of large droplets were found in the internal mixing type commercial injector, this shortcoming was improved by adopting the thread type air passages in the air nozzle.

  • This paper presents the experimental results to analyze the atomization characteristics and environmental impact of cutting fluid in grinding process. Grinding is a major machining process to improve surface quality with different machining mechanism which is compared with turning or milling process. The environmental impact due to aerosol generation via grinding process is a major concern associated with environmental consciousness. Experimental results show that the generated fine aerosol which particle size less than 10 micron appears near working zone under given operational conditions. The aerosol concentration is much higher enough to affect human health risk with its generated aerosol quantities. This study can be provided a basic knowledge fur further research of environmental consciousness machining development.
