Few-Shot Content-Level Font Generation

  • Artistic font design has become an integral part of visual media. However, without prior knowledge of the font domain, it is difficult to create distinct font styles. When the number of characters is limited, this task becomes easier (e.g., only Latin characters). However, designing CJK (Chinese, Japanese, and Korean) characters presents a challenge due to the large number of character sets and complexity of the glyph components in these languages. Numerous studies have been conducted on automating the font design process using generative adversarial networks (GANs). Existing methods rely heavily on reference fonts and perform font style conversions between different fonts. Additionally, rather than capturing style information for a target font via multiple style images, most methods do so via a single font image. In this paper, we propose a network architecture for generating multilingual font sets that makes use of geometric structures as content. Additionally, to acquire sufficient style information, we employ multiple style images belonging to a single font style simultaneously to extract global font style-specific information. By utilizing the geometric structural information of content and a few stylized images, our model can generate an entire font set while maintaining the style. Extensive experiments were conducted to demonstrate the proposed model's superiority over several baseline methods. Additionally, we conducted ablation studies to validate our proposed network architecture.

2.5D Quick Turnaround Engraving System through Recognition of Boundary Curves in 2D Images (2D 이미지의 윤곽선 인식을 통한 2.5D 급속 정밀부조시스템)

  • Design is important in the IT, digital appliance, and auto industries. Aesthetic and art images are being applied for better quality of the products. Most image patterns are complex and much lead-time is required to implement them to the product design process. A precise reverse engineering method generating 2.5D engraving models from 2D artistic images is proposed through the image processing, NURBS interpolation and 2.5D reconstruction methods. To generate 2.5D TechArt models from the art images, boundary points of the images are extracted by using the adaptive median filter and the novel MBF (modified boundary follower) algorithm. Accurate NURBS interpolation of the points generates TechArt CAD models. Performance of the developed system has been confirmed through the quick turnaround 2.5D engraving simulation linked with the commercial CAD/CAM system.

  • As a result of the great attention to the historical and cultural heritage, the achievements of the natural sciences are finding their way into museums. The necessity of preserving the treasures of the artistic and cultural heritage has brought into being a new alliance, an alliance between science and culture. The most sciences of cultural properties pertain mainly to improvement of the methods of identifications, preservation and restoration of historical monuments. Recently a new physical method has appeared that, in a sense, possesses universal capabilities. That method is holography, which successfully combines unique features making it possible not only to create three-dimesional optical replicas of real three -dimensional objects practically indistinguishable from the original but also to study them. We shall deal in this papper with its scientific principle and application for displaying, as well as on other potential applications.

  • Mechanical world view was built by Newton and Decarte approximately 400 years ago. Modern Society has reached at the time for fundamental adjustment and in effect, the paradigm shift is now under way. The new paradigm is the holistic world view that considers the world as the integrated entirety rather than the unity of separated parts. The pluralistic phase which can be considered as general characteristics observed in the art, society and culture in the end of the 20th century is seen as the reflection of this new world view. the complementary relationship between traditionism and modernity and oriental intuitive, holistic approach and western rational analytical approach can be explained when the complementary relationship is recognized with holistic and integrated view. The holistic paradigm and integrated-artistic view are the new aesthetic value which can suggest an alternative for public art of environmental design.

  • Creativity is an ever-increasing research area related to fashion design, namely the documentation and dissemination of creative scholarship. The purpose of this project is to apply creative bridge or creative leap theory to the development of an existing designer's garment collection using the creative design process of an architect. A single case study design was used to investigate the phenomenon of design process creative leap using a direct observation. Results indicate the difficult challenge of producing new and individualized silhouettes for the marketability of clothing, it is apparent that new methods of fostering creativity in designers through non-traditional approaches would benefit the education of apparel designers. Through targeted design practice, educators and practitioners can apply the principles of scientific inquiry into design processes to solve a problem, address a challenge, or create based on personal inspirations.

  • This study is intended to understand an implication and significant of anti-design and Italian radical fashion. Anti-design and radicalism is the main stream or origin and essence of post-modernism which hs been swaying our society at large through modern culture, economy, art, fashion etc, from the latter part of 1960s. In this paper, the author classified the italian radical fashion with the Archizoom, the Alchymia, the memphis fashion. In post-modernism fashion, radical fashion design of the Archizoom, Alchymia and Memphis group is in part a menifesto and in part a noncanonical history of the most progressive and heretical experiments of the world of fashion. Anti-designers of Italy call for a theory an practive in which the old methods and instruments and the old commendments of modernism are banished. They looked on fashion as material culture, a creative field with its own independent foundation and endowed with its own strong artistic intuition. IF radical design is dead, the energy it has stirred up is still alive nd kicking. One of the most progressive and well-informed culture milieus in Milian, seved as a point of reference for the vanguard of fashion.

  • In the midst of rapid cultural and artistic changes with the turn of the century, postmodernism is exerting great influence on the value and trends of arts. many artists are making utmost efforts in order to overcome ambiguity and confusion caused by these changes. Analysis of the works and philosophy of prominent fashion designers provides insight into the influence of postmodernism to the creation of modern arts including fashion. This paper attempts to explore how pluralism, one o the most important features of postmodernism, has given impacted to the modern fashion design. fashion trend and works of Paco Rabanne were reviewed with particular emphasis on pluralistic expressions in his fashion creation. it was found that Paco Rabanne's diversified and innovative use of materials and design methods were possible due to the influence of pluralism. It is anticipated that this trend will e observed in the various forms of arts wit the further analysis of fashion designers and artists.

  • As the contemporary public consensus prefers individuality to classical things, they have gotten sick of the universality and pursue fashion anew. As a result the new concept of artistic value delivers a shock to ordinary and traditional images. The bizarreness culture of fashion contains two extremes, horror and humor. which make people uneasy but amused by sensuous descriptions. Bizarre things captivate the audience regardless of the violent stimuli. The conversion of aesthetic consciousness is brought accordingly by horror and humor. In this paper, It is discussed that the concept of history of bizarreness and the social effect from its phenomena in current fashion are expressed through the two methods above. The bizarreness phenomena in current fashion is shown as a new hybrid type which has been recreated and came out of the internet. This phenomena has caused abnormal results and ironically mixed products, what was once directness, violence and disgust, are on the other hand enjoyment and amusement. A widening field, the bizarreness phenomenon, as an important implication in which can completely change the current trend, will be on track as a crucial concept representing contemporary cultures.

  • The purpose of this study was to find the methodology of design plan that could raise the brand power by looking around the driving force of the design innovation through the case study of Louis Vuitton which has been evaluated to be successful in brand revolution by designer Marc Jacobs. Research methods were theoretical studies looking for various analysis and valuations about Louis Vuitton's design innovation and analysis about articles in International Herald Tribune and New York Times. Driving force of Louis Vuitton's design innovation could be summarized as designer's creativity and full supports for designers, establishment of BI by strategic cooperation between design and marketing parts, active design plans by collaboration with modern artists, existence of Logo as a symbol of brand, business mind pursuing adventures and dreams, and directors' artistic sensitivity and supports for culture and art.
