PURPOSE. Articulation paper mark size is widely accepted as an indicator of forceful tooth contacts. However, mark size is indicative of contact location and surface area only, and does not quantify occlusal force. The purpose of this study is to determine if a relationship exists between the size of paper marks and the percentage of force applied to the same tooth. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Thirty dentate female subjects intercuspated into articulation paper strips to mark occlusal contacts on their maxillary posterior teeth, followed by taking photographs. Then each subject made a multi-bite digital occlusal force percentage recording. The surface area of the largest and darkest articulation paper mark (n = 240 marks) in each quadrant (n = 60 quadrants) was calculated in photographic pixels, and compared with the force percentage present on the same tooth. RESULTS. Regression analysis shows a bi-variant fit of force % on tooth (P<.05). The correlation coefficient between the mark area and the percentage of force indicated a low positive correlation. The coefficient of determination showed a low causative relationship between mark area and force ($r^2$ = 0.067). The largest paper mark in each quadrant was matched with the most forceful tooth in that same quadrant only 38.3% of time. Only 6 2/3% of mark surface area could be explained by applied occlusal force, while most of the mark area results from other factors unrelated to the applied occlusal force. CONCLUSION. The findings of this study indicate that size of articulation paper mark is an unreliable indicator of applied occlusal force, to guide treatment occlusal adjustments.
The purpose of this study was to make an empirical analysis of the influence of the participation of students in high school-college articulation programs during their high school days on their career or college entrance in an effort to explore how to ensure successful high school-college articulation to facilitate the normalization of public education. The subjects in this study were 371 students in a college and 62 high school teachers. After a survey was conducted, the following findings were given: As for the participation rate of high school-college articulation programs, the largest number of the students attended "college entrance presentations," and the second most popular programs were about major/career exploration. The participation rate of the girls was higher than that of the boys. As a result of comparing the impact of these programs on college entrance by different types of admission process, "college entrance counseling programs" exercised a larger influence on college entrance through the admission officer system. The teachers responded that "major/career exploration" was the high school-college articulation program which had the best effects on the normalization high school education and college admission. The findings of the study imply that it can make it possible to expedite the normalization of public education if diverse efforts are directed into high school-college articulation and its improvement.
In this paper, a recurrent cerebellar modulation articulation control (RCMAC) has been developed for improvement of noise attenuation performance in active noise control system. For the narrow band noise, a filter-x least mean square (FXLMS) method has bee frequently employed as an algorithm for active noise control (ANC) and has a partial satisfactory noise attenuation performance. However, noise attenuation performance of an ANC system with FXLMS method is poor for broad band noise and nonlinear path since it has linear filtering structure. Thus, an ANC system using RCMAC is proposed to improve this problem. Some simulations in duct system using harmonic motor noise and KTX cabin noise as a noise source were executed. It is shown that satisfactory noise attenuation performance can be obtained.

Co-articulation is one of major factors that make connected word recognition difficult. This Study Considers the fact that the head Part Of the following word is changed by the Preceding word in a connection point, by applying the co-articulation model, and adj usting the following word .We choose a critical damping second order linear system for the co-articulation model, combining a one-stage DP matching recognition algorithm with this model, and Investigating the effects. The recognition experiment is carried out for 35 Korean 4 connected digits spoken by 5 male speakers, and recognition rate Is upgraded by 4.7 percent.
Vehicular safety and occupant injury have been of considerable interest to the public. The dynamic response of an articulated vehicle is different from that of single body vehicle due to its geometric and inertia properties. Articulated vehicles have the tendency to jackknife if they lose driving safety. Influence of factors for driving safety of an articulated vehicle(Tractor-Semitrailers) has been analysed by the EDVTS, a kinetic analysis program for an articulated vehicle. EDVTS permits an analyst to investigate the effect of many variables in a short period of time, and enables to obtain an accurate explanation of driving safety. The factors used in the analysis include the load, friction coefficient, tire flat, increase of braking force, and trailer geometry. Based on the results, the articulation angle and driving safety were influenced remarkably by the load, coefficient of friction, increase of braking force. However, trailer geometry, such as length and width, did not affect articulation angle and driving safety

In this paper, a recurrent cerebellar modulation articulation control with praticle swarm optimization (PSO) method has been investigated for improvement of noise attenuation performance in active noise control system. For narrow band noise, FXLMS and RCMAC has a partial satisfactory noise attenuation. However, noise attenuation performance is poor for broad band noise and nonlinear path since it has linear filter structure. To improve this problem, a RCMAC with PSO is proposed and it is shown that satisfactory noise attenuation performance is obtained by some simulations in duct system using harmonic motor noise and KTX cabin noise as a noise source.

Background and Objectives : Dysarthria refers to speech disorder that causes difficulties in speech communication due to paralysis, muscle weakening, and incoordination of speech muscle mechanism caused by damaged central or peripheral nerve system. Pitch, strength and speed are influenced by dysarthria during detonation due to difficulties in muscle control. As evaluation items, alternate motion rate and diadochokinesis have been commonly used, and articulation is also an important evaluation items. The purpose of this study is to find acoustic characteristics on sound production of dysarthria patients. Materials and Methods : Research subjects have been selected as 20 dysarthria patients and 20 subjects for control group, and voice sample was composed of bilabial, alveolar sound, and velar sound in diadochokinetic rate, while consonant articulation test was composed of bilabial plosive, alveolar plosive, velar plosive. Analysis items were composed of 1) speaking rate, energy, articulation time of diadochokinesis, 2) voice onset time (VOT), total duration (TD), vowel duration (VD), hold of plosives. Results and Conclusions : The number of diadochokinetic rate of dysarthria was smaller than control group. Both control group and dysarthria group was highly presented in the order of /t/>/p/>/k/. Minimum energy range per cycle during diadochokinetic rate of dysarthria group was smaller than control group, and presented statistical significance in /p/, /k/, /ptk/. Maximum energy range was larger than control group, and presented statistical significance in /t/, /ptk/. Articulation time, gap, total articulation time during diadochokinetic rate of dysarthria group was longer than control group and presented statistical significance. The articulation time was presented in both control group and dysarthria group in the order of /k/>/t/>/p/, while Gap was presented in the order of /p/>/t/>/k/ for control group and /p/>/k/>/t/ for dysarthria group. VOT, TD, VD regarding plosives of dysarthria group were longer than control group. Hold showed large deviation compared to control group that had appeared due to declined larynx and articulation organ motility.
The complex number system is supposed to introduce first chapter in the first grade of high school. When number system is expanded to complex numbers, the main aim is to understand preservation of algebraic structure with regard to the flow of curriculum and textbook. This research reviewed overall alternative articulation and treatment of textbooks from a logical viewpoint. Two research questions are developed below. First, in the structure of the current curriculum, when we consider student's 'level', how are the alternative articulation and treatment of textbooks in complex unit on a logical point of view? Second, What are more logical alternative articulation and treatment? What alternative articulation and treatment are suitable for a running goal? and what are the improvement which is definitive?

Deafs train articulation by observing mouth of a tutor, sensing tactually the motions of the vocal organs, or using speech training aids. Present speech training aids for deafs can measure only single speech parameter, or display only frequency spectra in histogram of pseudo-color. In this study, a speech training aids that can display subject's articulation in the form of a cross section of the vocal organs and other speech parameters together in a single system is to be developed and this system makes a subject know where to correct. For our objective, first, speech production mechanism is assumed to be AR model in order to estimate articulatory motions of the vocal organs from speech signal. Next, a vocal tract profile model using LP analysis is made up. And using this model, articulatory motions for Korean vowels are estimated and displayed in the vocal tract profile graphics.
