Texture analysis has been efficiently utilized in the area of terrain classification. In this application features have been obtained in the 2D image domain. This paper suggests 3D co-occurrence texture features by extending the concept of co-occurrence to 3D world. The suggested 3D features are described using co-occurrence histogram of digital elevations at two contiguous position as co-occurrence matrix. The practical construction of co-occurrence matrix limits the number of levels of digital elevation. If the digital elevation is quantized into the number of levels over the whole DEM(Digital Elevation Map), the distinctive features can not be obtained. To resolve the quantization problem, we employ local quantization technique which preserves the variation of elevations. Experiments has been carried out to verify the proposed 3D co-occurrence features, and the addition of the suggested features significantly improves the classification accuracy.

The purpose of the study is to analyze the regional effectiveness of wall-plantings by applying a biotope area ratio when wall-plantings are constructed in high density areas. For this, this study required a sample of the wall-planting's regional plan. Therefore, types of wall-planting were determined and applied to a sample site. Four types of wall-plantings were developed by formative features and functional features. Type "A" had simple and functional features, Type "B" had both mixed and functional features, Type "C" had both simple and landscape features and Type "D" had mixed and landscape features. Jung-gu District in Seoul was chosen as the sample site. Total investigations were performed three times for three months from June to August, 2011. Total green-able walls were located in 498 places with a total length of 8,449m and gross vertical area of $23,754.90m^2$. The classification results of total green-able walls by the four types were Type "A" at $1,936.65m^2$, Type "B" at $5,875.30m^2$, Type "C" at $12,487.85m^2$ and Type "D" at $3,455.10m^2$. This study analyzed how all facade areas of the green-able walls impacted the biotope area ratio at the site. First, the biotope area ratio regarding all the zones in Jung-gu District was defined as the gross biotope area ratio while the biotope area ratio regarding all of the artificial zones was defined as the net biotope area ratio. In the case of the gross biotope area ratio, 17.97% is current ration with a projected increase to 0.10% after wall-planting. In the case of the net biotope area ratio, 4.73% is the current ration with a projected increase to 0.11% after wall-planting. This 0.11% is about 2.28% of 4.73%. This study looks at all wall-plantings that have been constructed throughout a high density area to observe their impact on the improvement of ecological function therein. With consideration of the landscape value of the facade, the regional effectiveness of wall-planting is expected to increase even more.

This dissertation was aimed at finding an implication of selecting and educating the gifted of information science discovering features of gifted learner in the field of math and science and the gifted of information science through comparative analysis of observing evaluation for the gifted of information science. Subjects of the study are foundation course learners of University Science Education Institute for the Gifted in the field of physics, earth science, math, information science. We have compared the features of learners of each field through one-way ANOVA about an observing evaluation for one year. In consequence, information science learners showed mostly different features from physics and earth science learners in details of an attitude area and a problem solving area. And an analysis of each subject of information science learners showed that the test of attitude area in the fields of math and information was relatively superior to that of science. On this, the researcher concluded that there must be features of the gifted on information science and their difference from gifted learners in math and science was caused by learner levels and features of each field. Based on the result of this study, we expect that we can imply it to selecting and educating the gifted of information science.

This study conducted an analysis using IPA metrics targeting college students to get strategic implications for marketing in the recently fast-growing mobile shopping market. The IPA analysis result about the selection of mobile shopping malls is as follows. First, out of the 21 features, 'reliability of the offered products(6.09)' had the highest level of importance and 'convenience of payment(5.29)' had the highest level of performance. Second, in the area of 'Doing great, Keep it up' 11 features were included such as 'convenience of payment' and 'reliability of the offered products'. Third, the feature that needed to be corrected in the area of 'Focus here' was 'shortening the waiting time for exchange, refund or warranty service'. Fourth, low priority areas in terms of importance and performance, there were 3 features including 'push/notification helps purchases'. Fifth, to the area of 'overdone' 4 features belonged such as 'variety in the type of products'.
A study was made on the feature extraction for non-metallic one deposits and their related geology using the Remote Sensing and Airborne Radiometric data. The area chosen is around the Haenam area, where dickite and Quarzite mines are distributed in. The geology of the area consists mainly of Cretaceous volcanics and PreCambrian metamorphic. The methods applied are study on the reflectance characteristics of minerals and rocks sampled in the study area, and the feature extraction extraction of histogram normalized images for Landsat TM and Airborne Radiometric data, and finally evaluation of applicability of some useful pattern recognition techniques for regional lithological mapping. As a result, reflectances of non-metallic minerals are much higher than rock samples in the area. However, low grade dickites are slightly higher than rock samples, probably due to their greyish colour and also their textural features which may scatter the reflectance and may be capable of capturing much hychoryl ions. The reflectances of rock samples may depend on the degree of whiteness of samples. The outcrops or mine dumps in the study area were most effectively extracted on the histogram normalized image of TM Band 1, 2 and 3, due to their high reflectivity. The Masking technique using the above bands may be the most effective and the natural colour composite may provide some success as well. The colour composite image of PCA may also be effective in extracting geological features, and airborne radiometric data may be useful to some degree as an complementary tool.
We propose a bicycle detection system riding on people based on modified projected local binary pattern(PLBP) for vision based intelligent vehicles. Projection method has robustness for rotation invariant and reducing dimensionality for original image. The features of Local binary pattern(LBP) are fast to compute and simple to implement for object recognition and texture classification area. Moreover, We use uniform pattern to remove the noise. This paper suggests that modified LBP method and projection vector having different weighting values according to the local shape and area in the image. Also our system maintains the simplicity of evaluation of traditional formulation while being more discriminative. Our experimental results show that a bicycle and motorcycle riding on people detection system based on proposed PLBP features achieve higher detection accuracy rate than traditional features.
In this paper, we present a face detection algorithm which uses the features of color and Geometry of faces and hairs appeared in images. after candidate area detection using color features, background areas are removed by the deviation of luminance in each of candidate areas. And then, final face area is detected using feature of geometry between face and hair. Performance of the presented algorithm is evaluated by detection rate test. The test result showed high detection rate.
In the area of speech processing, raw signals used to be presented into 2D format. However, such kind of presentation methods have limitation to extract characteristics from the signal because of the presentation method. Generally, not much information can be detected from the 2D signal. Strange attractor in the field of chaos theory provides a 3D presentation method. In the area of recognition problem, signal presentation method is very important because good features can be detected from a good presentation. This paper discusses a new feature extraction method that extracts features from a cycle of the strange attractor. A neural network is used to check whether the method extracts suitable features or not. The result shows very good points that can be applied to some areas of signal processing.

After the 1988 Seoul Olympics, a lot of Culture & Arts Centers have been built in Korea. There have been raised questions on the frequency of room use and the occupancy of seats, but there are not enough architectural data for the Culture & Arts Centers in Korea. This paper focuses on the investigation of the architectural features of the Culture & Art Centers, such as the spatial sizes, the composition ratio of the performing art hall area to the overall facility area, the sizes and proportions of seat zone to stage zone, the average area per one person at the seat zone, the wide and the height of the procenium, the height of fly loft, and the number of users per one program. We could find out some meaning results. The composition ratios of the performing art hall area to the overall area of the facilities distribute with a wide range. The floor areas of 1500 through 2000 seat performing art halls are larger than $13,000m^2$. The average area per one person for seat zone and stage zone is approximately $0.8m^2$. All facilities we investigated have the types of the procenium stage. Almost all of the facilities have high quality stage conditions and equipments, but few programs use the various stage equipments and all of the main, side, and rear stages. To resolve this problems, various programs have to be developed for encouraging more people to use the Culture & Art Centers.

It is highly for the research in artificial intelligence area to be able to manage knowledge as human beings do. One of the fantastic natures that human knowledge management systems have is being active. Human beings actively manage their knowledge, solve conflicts and make inference. It makes a major difference from artificial intelligent systems. This paper focuses on the discussion of the features of that human knowledge systems, which underlies the active nature. With the features extracted, further research can be done to construct a suitable infrastructure to facilitate these features to build a man-made active knowledge management system. This paper proposed 10 features that human beings follow to maintain their knowledge. We believe it will advance the evolution of active knowledge management systems by realizing these features with suitable knowledge representation/decision models and software agent technology.
