Recent modeling and simulation technology is being used in various fields. Especially in the field of military, Simulation-Based Acquisition (SBA) is recognized as a essential policy. To effectively carry out SBA, modeling and simulation techniques should be applied in the whole life-cycle for the weapon system development, and simulation architecture framework which provides easily reusable and interoperability is needed. Through reusability and interoperability, the costs of constructing the integrated collaborate environment for simulation based acquisition can be minimized. In this study, we define requirements, issues for enhancing reusability and interoperability, and propose simulation framework as a solution of the problem including structural design. Proposing simulation framework provides common functions for producing simulator as reusable units and easily changeable structure on user's purpose. In addition, we provide the result for applying simulation framework to our project.
As CBD technologies and researches have been matured, component framework as a larger reuse unit than component is being introduced. Especially issues related with adaptation and integration of components in CBD are being raised as a new research topic. The component framework is given as a solution to resolve these issues. However, current approaches don't suggest a sound and comprehensive reference model and development process applying reference model. In order to develop practical and stable component framework, reference model and concrete guidelines are essential elements. In this paper, we propose a generic reference model integrating existing reference models and a design technique of component framework based on it. Especially, we propose concrete and pragmatic guidelines such as how to design component framework architecture's view and style, how to design commonality and variability of component framework, how to design macro workflows among components, and so on. We believe that the proposed reference model becomes basis for component framework development, and the proposed design technique will support reliable and effective development of the component framework.

This paper presents a component-based integration framework and its software component architecture for supporting the rapid integration of legacy design supporting systems in the distributed environment. Also, using standard interface, this software component architecture provides flexibility, extensibility and compatibility which ensure software components to be independent of the integration middleware and systems to be integrated.

The human expression contains a lot of information that can be used to detect complex conditions such as pain and fatigue. After deep learning became the mainstream method, the traditional feature extraction method no longer has advantages. However, in order to achieve higher accuracy, researchers continue to stack the number of layers of the neural network, which makes the real-time performance of the model weak. Therefore, this paper proposed an expression recognition framework based on densely concatenated convolutional neural networks to balance accuracy and latency and apply it to humanoid robots. The techniques of feature reuse and parameter compression in the framework improved the learning ability of the model and greatly reduced the parameters. Experiments showed that the proposed model can reduce tens of times the parameters at the expense of little accuracy.

The functions of various systems inside the naval ships have been improved and diversified to prepare for the future battlefield and satisfy new requirements. The number of missions and operating displays with which a crew has to deal has increased. In this paper, Integrated Service Framework for Naval Ships is proposed. The proposed framework is based on REST architecture and it interfaces the networks of each systems in the ship. The connected data and functions are rebuilt as an object and they are provided as HTTP and JSON based APIs. The prototype of the framework was implemented in a combat system test-bed and its feasibility was proved with performance tests. With the proposed framework, operational efficiency for a naval ship can be achieved by designing new integrated displays and HCI which utilize whole ship's capabilities.

As naval ships become more complex with the reduced cost and time for their development, modeling and simulation are increasingly used. The US navy has being applied the concept of a simulation-based acquisition(SBA) to their acquisition process. However, there have been few studies on a simulation-based acquisition for naval ships (SBA-NS) in the Korean naval shipbuilding. In this paper, we discuss a framework to establish collaborative environment(CE) for an advanced naval ships acquisition based on PLM. For this, we propose architectures and a naval ship information model for design the framework of the SBA-NS. To design the framework, we develop the methodology that is composed of three major processes that are the requirement analysis process, the SBA-NS architectures design process and the design process of a reference model of a naval ship product information. Applying the methodology, the framework suitable for the Korean Navy context is developed.

Engineering system problems consist of multi-objective optimisation and the performance analysis is generally time consuming. To optimise the system concerning its performance, many researchers perform the optimisation using an approximation model. The Response Surface Method (RSM) is usually used to predict the system performance in many research fields, but it shows prediction errors for highly nonlinear problems. To create an appropriate metamodel for marine systems, Lee (2015) compares the prediction accuracy of the approximation model, and multi-objective optimal design framework is proposed based on a confirmed approximation model. The proposed framework is composed of three parts: definition of geometry, generation of approximation model, and optimisation. The major objective of this paper is to confirm the applicability/usability of the proposed optimal design framework and evaluate the prediction accuracy based on sensitivity analysis. We have evaluated the proposed framework applicability in derrick structure optimisation considering its structural performance.

To promote process effectiveness and efficiency, it is necessary that port logistics employ automated equipments for handling containers. There exists a system for automatically managing the container flow, called Control Module. However, it has limitation to assign the execution order to the machine and monitor the container flow in real time process. Business process management (BPM) provides a suitable and effective framework to address this problem including controlling and monitoring the flow of each container. Since the nature of container handling process is different with the common process in BPM that is conducted by human performer, it is necessary to adjust the BPM framework in the domain of port logistic management. This study presents a BPM framework corresponds with both human-based and machine-based activity to enhance the efficiency of port process flow including container flow. This framework is introduced as an integrated approach and mechanism of BPM application into the container handling system for the purpose of port logistics process automation.

Until now there have been many kinds of enterprise architecture frameworks including the DoDAF in defense domain, the FEAF in administration domain, and the TEAF in finance domain. These EAFs define EA viewpoints for supporting each domain and propose perspectives and models for each viewpoint. These EAFs provide consistent models from different perspectives that interact with each other. However, they have too many perspectives so that their complexities are too high, or they do not define enough models for concrete architecture description. Especially, they neither consider business values, that mean the ultimate purpose of an organization nor execute processes for achieving the business values. This paper thus proposes the VBEAF, business value based enterprise architecture framework that considers and executes business values in organizational business processes.

A rapid growth of IT convergence into different application areas draws a lot of interest in high performance platform and embedded system. Industry needs well educated computer professionals with the practical understanding on the emerging technologies and core issues of contemporary popular services. In this paper, we present an education framework for computer system architecture based on rigorous analyses of the characteristics of IT convergence services and information technology trends. The proposed framework puts emphasis on real-world and hands-on subjects related to multicore architecture, embedded system and parallel processing. We believe effective use in the development and management of computer system architecture courses encouraging both industries and students.
