  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find the relationship between Michell Foucault's the primary, secondary, and tertiary spatialization of disease and spatial composition for the development of architectural planning of the healthcare architecture. Methods: Literature review of spatialization of disease and comparison between medical and dental disease have been conducted. The synchronic structure and diachronic change of spatialization process have been analyzed through spatial composition and history of Seoul National University, School of Dentistry and Dental Hospital. Results: The result of this study can be summed up in three points. First of all, spatialization of dental disease is similar to that of medicine but it should be more focused on the tertiary spatialization. The second one is that the process of spatialization of dental disease started the secondary spatialization first and the primary spatialization followed after a short interval and spatial composition has been followed the process of spatialization of dental disease in Korea. The third one is that the tertiary spatialization has not been actively gone along until recently and it has to be developed in near future. Implications: It is necessary to analyze spatialization of dental disease in other dental facilities to develop the relationship between spatial composition and program in healthcare system.

  • The Chinese Architect Wangshu, who won the Pritzker Architecture Prize at 2012, is the first and only winner in China. This study focused on the expression of his unique architectural ideas. Especially with a high interest in Chinese traditional calligraphy and landscape painting, Wangshu tried to use its traditional features to form his own architectural way. First this study looked at the features of calligraphy and landscape painting. Second this research studied the expression of Wangshu's architectural practice in calligraphy's way. Lastly this study furthered study of Wangshu's architecture combined with landscape paintings' features. The results state these following. 1) For calligraphy, he used the "modular composition" of Chinese characters to architectural composition, which included architectural form and materials. The "similarities" and "space creation" of calligraphy are respectively applied to architectural spatial details and site planning. 2) For landscape painting, Wangshu borrows its elements to compose his architecture with "gardening consciousness". The "view method" of paintings was used to his architectural pedestrian flows, and Wangshu also based on the "space creation" of landscape painting to do architectural space design with creating the similar atmosphere.

The composition system of Domus which is formed of urban house in the Roman period is presented by spatial arrangement of palace architecture centering around atrium in the Renaissance period. Thus plan type of Domus is used by atrium from which is composed of peristyle from the palace and villa in the Renaissance period. 2. The circular temple in the Roman period is composed of element such as podium, stair, peristyle centering around the basic circular plan. Bramante planed to revive above elements for the Tempietto to concept from the circular temple in the Roman period. 3. The triumphal arch in the Roman period is strong monument to the independent building in the city, but thus arch is used of church facade as the important example which is composed with building elevation in the Renaissance period. 4. The composition system and element of Roman temple which is planned to rectangular plan is composed of high podium, stair, portico, prostyle and pediment. The facade plan of church is used by the partial elements and total elements perfectly from the temple in the Roman period. 5. The linearly successive and repetitive composition which is composition system and element of aqueduct arches of same dimension shows to the palace facade, arcade for gallery space and side elevation plan of S.Fracesco church. 6. Such as background of Colloseum, Rucellai palace can be called good example which is created by the new architectural form to the creative starting point from the classical architecture from.

  • The aim of this study is to understand the original methods of architectural composition in F. L. Wright's works, For this purpose, the principal thoughts based on his organic architecture was examined over all others, and the results of this study are as follows. 1. F. L. Wright knew Taoist Philosophy, especially Lao-tzu's thought about space based on traditional oriental arts included traditional japanese arts by his superior intuition. this is similar to Froebel Thought in the principal theory, that is, his own unique field of abstract architectural education with three-dimensional geometry learned through Froebel Gifts. 2. Space is reality ; such Lao-tzu's thought, reversed the sense of values, influenced F. L. Wright's way to accomplish his own continuous space. that is to say, he attempted taking precedence of spatial organization by the unit of three-dimensional module made the substance, Froebel Blocks (3, 4, 5, 6 Gifts) into non-substance, and trying to do the methods of continuous liberal composition in architecture. which is his original accomplishment, namely his mentioned 'democratic' because of judging the space and the mold of architecture as individualities. 3. F. L. Wright treated the space as a positive entity, so that he created his own architecture organically combined with spaces and forms. : This was the result that he comprehended both formative, physical worth in West and spatial, non-physical worth in East as equivalence. It is understood that F. L. Wright's works combined with East and West are the significance of his architecture and the progress of true internationalities and modernization in modern architecture. 4. From the analyses of his works, we knew the fact that F. L. Wright's architecture, especially in the spatial organization were performed by the reasonable methods with geometric system of Froebel Gifts. In the observation of our fundamental way of thinking on his architecture, this study shows the necessity to let us get out of preconceptions and conclusions that the organic architecture is mysterious and difficult, but to systematize and put his organic methods to practical use.

  • This study is about the Spatial Composition and Area Calculation in Plastic Surgical Clinics. 1. The space of the plastic surgical clinics are divided into 4 sections; exam, exam support, the staffs, and waiting and reception area. 2. The average G/N ratio of width was 1.46. The Plastic surgical clinics which had great deviation in the ratio showed these characteristics; first, when they were planned at first, the operation rooms were not assigned enough space; second. space for supporting exam and the activities of staffs was given too little consideration in their first drafts. 3. The average size of operation rooms was $21.76m^2$. The most desirable size was found to be $26.4m^2$ when we put the number of staffs, the movement area of stretcher, and the movement lines of operation room into consideration.
