  • XML is a standard markup language for exchange and storage of formed or well-formed information in World Wide Web. Because the source data of XML message for exchange of information in World Wide Web is stored in legacy database, it is necessary for the easy connection between XML application and database system. In Oracle8i, 9i, Informix and SQL2000, DBMS vendors make upgrade to DBMS for using XML. This method of upgrade between XML application and database system is Platform-dependent and DBMS-dependent. Also It is necessary for the method of the platform- and DBMS-independent connection between XML application and database system. The methods for the connection between XML DTD and RDB schema are studied for the easy connection between XML application and database system. But the study for the easy connection between XML DTD and ORDB schema is a little. For multimedia application, we use the extended DBMS from RDBMS. It is necessary for the study to the transformation from XML DTD to ORDB schema. In this paper, for easier connection between XML application and database system, we propose the method of the transformation from XML DTD to ORDB schema using Object Model.

  • As the cloud-based ICT(Information & Communication Technology) infrastructure matures, the existing monolithic software development method is evolving into a micro-service structure based on cloud native computing. To develop and operate the services efficiently under the cloud native environment, DevOps-based application development plans through MSA(Micro Service Architecture) design based are essential. A cloud native environment is an approach to developing and running applications that take advantage of cloud computing models such as automation of source distribution, container-based virtualization, application scalability, resource efficiency, and flexible maintenance through object independence. To implement this approach, the utilization of key elements such as DevOps, continuous delivery, micro service, and containers is essential, but there are not enough previous studies on case analyses or application methods of these key elements. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze the cases of application development in cloud native environment and propose the optimized application development process and development method through small and medium-sized SI projects.

  • A New Direct AC LED Driver has been proposed for wide output power range and precise constant current regulation using an advanced auto commutation topology. The conventional shunt regulation method provides a stepped input current shape by fixed regulation references in the linear regulator of the each channel, which results in poor current regulation and high THD. The conventional method needs to assign a linear regulator in each LED channel so that the number of linear regulator increases when extending the number of channels especially at high power application. The proposed regulation method can drive multiple switches to regulate each LED channel current by a single amplifier with sinusoidal reference so that large number of LED channel can be simply extended with less BOM cost and low THD is obtained with the accurate current regulation thanks to the sinusoidal input current control in the closed loop control. To confirm the validity of the proposed circuit, theoretical analysis and experimental results from a 20-W LED driver prototype are presented.

  • This paper presents a smartphone application for the clinical practice education conducted in hospitals, with an aim to evaluate its effectiveness. A nonequivalent control group posttest design was used, which included a total of 100 nursing of school students who conducted their clinical practice. They were divided into one control and one experimental group (50 students each). The control group was directly trained in the clinical practice orientation, and the experimental group was a group who self-learned the clinical practice orientation using a smartphone application. Research data were collected between March 5 and April 27, 2019. They were analyzed with descriptive statistics and independent t-test, using the SPSS Statistics Version 24. The smartphone application customized for the clinical practice education was implemented through the following four phases: analysis, design, development, and evaluation. The developed application was registered in Google Play (for Android apps) and Apple Store, and related information was provided, making it available for download. The study showed that the satisfaction with and self-confidence in learning differed significantly between the groups. However, technology acceptance and knowledge acquired through practice showed no statistically significant difference. The research results serve as basic data for applying smartphone applications as an educational method that can replace traditional modes of education, serving as a significant indicator of the education delivery method diversification.

  • Leakage magnetic flux is occurred in the cracked area of magnetized specimens, and also it changes the magnetic domain area of the magneto-optical film positioned on the specimen. It causes the change of the optical permeability of the magnetic domain on the crack area. So crack images can be obtained easily using this principle. On the other hand, utilizing a laser in this method makes possible to perform a remote sensing by detecting the light intensity contrast between cracked area and normal area. This paper shows the application of non-destructive inspection system taking advantage of magneto-optical method for micro-cracks and presents examples applied to the several types of specimens having fatigue cracks and fabricated cracks using this method. Also the authors prove the possibility of this method as a remote sensing system under the oscillation load considering application to real fields.

  • We propose ROI(region of interest) image coding application to still image using PSBS(partial significant bitplane shift)method combined with human face region detecting system. PSBS is an encoding algorithm for ROI image coding in JPEG2000, and takes advantages of both generic scaling based method and maximum shift method defined in JPEG2000. The Powerful advantages of PSBS are able to adjusting image quality in ROI and background flexibly, and support arbitrarily shaped ROI coding without coding the shape. In this letter, we show how to compress an image for human face region using PSBS method combined with human face region detecting system, and propose its application.

  • This study presents an application of the 3D patch extraction method which is based on gradient-driven properties to obtain 3D planar patches over the terrain and man-made objects from lidar data. The method which was exploited in this study is composed of a sequence of processes: segmentation by slope, initiation of triggering patches by mode selection, and expansion of the triggering patches. Since urban areas contain many planar regions over the terrain surface, application of the method has been experimented to extract 3D planar patches not only from non-terrain objects but also from the terrain. The experimental result shows that the method is efficient to acquire 3D planar patches.

  • The field of load modeling has attracted the attention since it plays an important role for improving the accuracy of stability analysis and power flow estimation. Also, load modeling is an essential factor in the simulation and evaluation of power system performance. However, conventional load modeling techniques have some limitations with respect to accuracy for nonlinear and composite loads. Thus, precision load modeling technique and reasonable application method is needed for more accurate power system analysis. In this paper, we develop an intelligent load modeling method based. on neural network and application techniques for power system. The proposed method makes it possible to effectively estimate the load model for nonlinear models as well as linear models. Reasonable application method is also proposed for stability analysis. To demonstrate the validity of the proposed method, various experiments are performed and their results are presented.

  • PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was investigate the changes of gastrocnemius (GCM) muscle activity by applying different hot and cold therapeutic modalities. METHODS: A total of 20 healthy subjects were enrolled into the study. We selected transfer modalities that are frequently used in clinical settings: conduction, radiation, and convection. We performed hot pack, ice pack, and infrared therapy for 10, 20, and 30 minutes. After each application, a break was taken between each day. In addition, we performed cryotherapy for 3 min (airflow rate = $-6{\sim}-20^{\circ}C$). We measured muscle activity changes in the GCM muscle. RESULTS: For the conduction method, muscle activity significantly increased after ice pack therapy for 10 min and 20 min but decreased after hot pack therapy for 10 min and 20 min. For the radiation method, muscle activity significantly decreased after infrared therapy for 10 min and 20 min. For the convection method, muscle activity significantly increased after cryotherapy for 3 min and 10 min. There were no differences in the change of muscle activity in the conduction and radiation transfer method using heat. However, there were differences in the change of muscle activity in the conduction and convection transfer method with cold application. CONCLUSION: For a reduction in muscle activity, regardless of the transfer type, thermal application for 20 min would be effective. For an increase in muscle activity, cold pack application or cryotherapy for 20 min would be effective. This study could contribute toward therapeutic modality application in changing muscle activity.
