Description of Feeding Apparatus and Mechanism in Nemopilema nomurai Kishinouye (Scyphozoa: Rhizostomeae)

  • Feeding apparatus, mechanism and passage of ingested prey were described for Nemopilema nomurai (Scyphozoa: Rhizostomeae). N. nomurai medusae without central mouths have developed complicated canal systems connecting the tip of the tentacle and oral arm to the gut cavity. The number of junctions in the canal system increases with the bell diameter. The prey is gathered by paralyzing nematocyst at the tentacles and by adhering cirri at the oral arms and scapulets. They are engulfed into the terminal pore located at the oral arms and scapulets, and entered into the gut cavity via the canal system. The estimated digestion time is 1 hour and 20 min. The diameter of terminal pore is always about 1 mm, implying that they could not eat prey larger than that pore size. On the other hand, ephyrae have central mouths and could swallow prey as large as adults could. Exploitation of the same size of food by adult and ephyra implies that N. nomurai can affect seriously the whole food web, massively ingesting micro- and mesozooplankton and cutting the energy transfer toward the higher level of carnivores.

마을 공동 우물용 지하수 정수 장치의 원격 모니터링 시스템 개발 (Development of Remote Monitoring System for groundwater purifier apparatus for community wells)

  • 최근 지하수의 오염이 심각해지고 있다. 특히 축산농가 근처의 지하수 오염은 더욱 심해지고 있으며, 음용수로 마시기 어렵다. 그러나 일부 지역에서는 오염된 것을 알면서도 마시고 있다. 본 논문에서는 마을 공동우물에 설치할 수 있는 지하수 정수 장치를 설계 하였다. 설계된 지하수 정수 장치는 RO 멤브레인 필터를 사용하고, UV 살균을 통해 중금속, 박테리아, 유기화합물 등의 오염물질을 제거할 수 있게 하였다. 또한 원격 모니터링을 위해 전기 전도도, 압력, 유량 등의 센서를 부가하였다. 원격으로 모니터링하는 압력 및 유량 데이터로 RO 멤브레인 필터의 파울링 및 오염의 여부를 판단할 수 있으며, 급수의 전기전도도를 통해 유입되는 지하수의 오염 및 상태의 변동을 파악할 수 있다. 본 논문에서 설계된 지하수 정수 장치를 시골 농가에 설치하여 원격 모니터링 하였다. 15일간 지하수 정수 장치를 운영하고 모니터링 데이터를 분석한 결과, 생산수 유량은 평균 2.67L/min이고 급수의 압력 평균 7.09kgf/㎠로 RO 멤브레인 필터가 파울링 및 막힘없이 필터링되고 있음을 파악할 수 있었다. 또한 평균 전기전도도는 급수 796.6 uS/㎠이고 생산수 55.6uS/㎠로 일반적인 수돗물과 유사한 값을 나타내고 있어 주변에 오염원이 발생하지 않았음을 확인 할 수 있었다. 따라서 설계된 지하수 정수 장치는 원격 모니터링을 통해 필터의 교체 시점을 미리 확인할 수 있고, 지하수의 오염 여부에 대한 상태 확인이 가능하다.

전기식 온구기에 대한 안전성 및 성능 평가 가이드라인 개발 연구 (Study on Developing Assessment Guideline for Safety and Performance of Electric Moxibustion Apparatus)

  • Objectives : We developed and proposed a guideline for safety and performance assessment of electric moxibustion apparatus (class II medical device). Methods : We drafted the guideline for safety and performance assessment of electric moxibustion apparatus by referring the existing standards, guidelines and measurement data from commercially available products. Temperature characteristics such as maximum temperature and ramp time, and physical characteristics such as weight, noise and diameter were measured. User friendliness was also evaluated for commercial devices. Results : This guideline only can be applied to the electric moxibustion apparatus where moxa is being heated by electricity for medical proposes. Maximum temperature of higher than $50^{\circ}C$ can be achieved mostly. Ramp rate of temperature seems to be reliable. Control of temperature is needed to be improved. Moxa and its derivative products seem to be regulated for reliable temperature performance for clinical application. Requirements for design and development of electric moxibustion apparatus are suggested : temperature indicator, temperature control and its accuracy, safety measure, surge protection, user friendliness and instruction for use (IFU). Design recommendation of the reduction of noise level and energy loss are suggested for better products. Conclusions : We proposed a guideline for safety and performance assessment of electric moxibustion apparatus to improve the quality of relating products and aid their commercialization by aiming higher industrial competitiveness of the medical device sectors in Korea. Discussion with related institutes such as industry, academy and government is further required. Public hearings also need to be held prior to the establishment of a final guideline and standard.

  • Objectives: This research aimed to develop a guideline for evaluating safety and performance of electronic warm-acupuncture apparatus. With the development of medical devices like electronic warm-acupuncture apparatus with improved performance, convenience and safety measures compared to traditional warm-acupuncture needling, safety and performance guideline is a necessity. Methods: By referring to existing standards and guidelines of other electronic devices for Korean medicine with heating function, guideline for safety and performance assessment of electronic warm-acupuncture apparatus was drafted Results: The guideline, presents explanation for adequate temperature and settings of the apparatus, and safety measurements providing against thermal runaway situations along with guidelines for the manual. Guideline for detailed test method for the performance of the apparatus such as accuracy of temperature increase and the timer, and safety unit was also provided. The test items and suggested test methods for the requirements of biological, electrical and electromagnetic safety were referred to Korean approval documents of ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Conclusion: We proposed the relevant items to verify performance and safety of warm-acupuncture apparatus to assure patient safety and improve the quality of currently developing devices for application in clinical field.

발포 폴리스티렌 폼을 이용한 다기능 열선가공장치 개발 (Development of Multi-functional Hotwire Cutting System using EPS-foam)

  • The objective of this paper is to develop a multi-functional hotwire cutting system (MHC) using EPS-foam block or plate as the working material. Because the MHC apparatus employs a four-axis synchronized hotwire cutter with the structure of two XY movable heads and a turntable, it allows the easy fabrication of various 3D shapes, such as (1) an axisymmetric shape or a sweeping cross-sectioned pillar shape using the hot-strip in the form of sweeping surface and EPS foam block on the turntable, (2) a polyhedral complex shape using the hotwire and EPS foam block on the turntable, and (3) a ruled surface approximated freeform shape using the hotwire and EPS foam plate. In order to examine the applicability of the developed MHC apparatus, an axisymmetric shape, a polyhedral shape and a large-sized freeform shape were fabricated on the apparatus.

  • The study relates to achievement and analysis of 3-dimensional spatial pulse wave archived by a spatially arterial pulse diagnostic apparatus (SAPDA), wherein a pulse sensing part array consists of multiple hall devices and is located over a skin contacting part which consists of a magnetic material. When a radially arterial pulse is transferred to the magnetic material, which is contacted skin that results in changes in a magnetic field of the lower part of the pulse sensing part array, the changes in a magnetic field can be detected by the commercial Hall semiconductor device of the pulse sensing part array. Finally, according to development of SAPDA, the 3-dimensionally arterial pulse waveform can be measured noninvasively by detecting the changes of the magnetic field.

단일 PC기반의 역감 및 촉감 제시 시스템 개발 (Development of One PC-Based the Haptic Interface and Tactile Apparatus System)

  • 본 논문에서는 초음파 모터 구동형 역감 장치의 말단에 전기 자극 촉각 장치를 부착함으로써 역감과 촉감을 동시에 제시할 수 있는 단일 PC 기반의 역감-촉감 제시 시스템을 제안한다 인간이 가상 현실 공간에서 가상 물체와 접촉했을 때 동시에 역감과 촉감 정보를 제시받으면 역감 또는 촉감의 한가지 감각만을 제시받은 것 보다 더 큰 몰입감을 느끼게 된다. 또한 다양한 가상 물체를 복잡한 알고리즘 없이 쉽게 표현 또는 인식할 수 있다. 예를 들자면, 사용자가 역감장치를 사용하면 딱딱한 가상 벽과 탄성이 높은 고무공에 대한 차이점을 확실하게 구별할 수는 있으나, 송곳과 같은 날카로운 가상 물체의 경우에는 단지 딱딱함만을 제시하여 가상 벽과의 구별하기가 매우 어렵다 만약 전기 자극형 촉감장치(The Electric Stimulus Tactile Apparatus System : TESTAS)를 함께 사용한다면 딱딱함과 동시에 송곳에 찔렸을 때의 촉감을 함께 제시할 수 있어 가상 벽과의 차이점을 확실하게 구별할 수 있다.

새로운 Tension Split Hopkinson Bar를 이용한 박판의 고속 인장시험 (High strain rate tensile test of sheet metals with a new tension split hopkinson bar)

  • A split hopkinson bar could be used for obtaining the high strain rate material properties of sheet metals for an autobody. In high speed tensile tests of sheet matals, a new design of a tension split Hopkinson bar apparatus is needed. The design of grips and an anvil length are numerically analyzed with ABAQUS/Explicit for the new apparatus of split Hopkinson bars. From the experiments with the new apparatus, the material properties of SPCEN in the high strain rate state have been acquired and compared with quasi-static experimental results. The material properties of SPCEN as well as other sheet metals in an autobody are indispensible for the analysis of crashworthness. Nevertheless the experiment of sheet metal in the high strain rate state has not been done or reported.

  • In this paper, we described the export system to monitor and diagnose 765KV power apparatus. To develop this expert system, we studied the knowledge bases and data bases for 765KV transformer and GIS. In order to make the reliable inference of knowledge base and the good MMI(Man Machine Interface), the data bases were consisted of the tables of power apparatus information, limit level value, measured input data, inference result and diagnosis result. The knowledge base had various rules to infer the conditions of transformer and GIS. We applied both the forward chaining and backward chaining methods to these rules of system for good inferences. This paper describes the applied methods for expert system. Also, this developed system was tested with dissolved gas analyzing result and the result was shown.

액중 방전 성형의 실험 장치 개발 및 실험적 연구 (Development of Electrohydraulic Forming Apparatus and Its Experimental Study)

  • Electrohydraulic forming is a high-speed forming process that deforms a blank using electric discharge in liquid. When high voltage is discharged in the water, a shock wave is propagated from the tip of the electrodes to the blank, causing the blank to be deformed into the die. Electrohydraulic forming has many advantages including improved formability and reduced bouncing effect and springback. The objective of this paper was to conduct a feasibility study to identify the electrohydraulic effect. An electrohydraulic forming apparatus was developed and experiments were carried out. The results of the experiment showed that the developed apparatus had sufficient energy to deform the blank into the die. Using the hole to emit residual air in the die was more effective than using the vacuum pump in terms of saving on experiment time.
