Vibration Characteristics of High Pressure Multi-Stage Pump with Anti-Swirl Injection Balance Sleeve (역스월 유로 입력을 가지는 밸런스 슬리브를 적용한 고압 다단 펌프의 진동 특성)

  • As the tangential flow inside the clearance of tribe elements such as bearings and seals is increased as the shaft speed increases, the system stability will be decreased due to the increment of the instability parameter. To reduce the tangential flow inside the clearance of the balance sleeve, anti-swirl injection mechanism is applied. The balance sleeve is used in resisting the axial force induced by impeller in high pressure multi-stage pump. In this paper, total three cases are experimentally investigated; original balance steeve, anti-swirl injection balance steeve with 0 axial degree and anti-swirl injection balance sleeve with 30 axial degree. Experiments are focused in the comparison of vibration level and leakage flow rate. The results clearly shows that the anti-swirl injection balance sleeve with 0 axial degree improves the vibration characteristics. However, the anti-swirl injection balance sleeve with 30 degree aggravates the vibration characteristics. In the standpoint of leakage performance, both anti-swirl injection balance sleeves show the better result than the original balance sleeve.

Sensitivity Analysis of Anti-resonance Frequency for Vibration Test Control of a Fixture

  • The test specimen in environmental vibration test is connected to the fixture through several attachment points. The forces generated by the shaker must be transmitted equally to all attachment points. The forces transmitted to attachment points, however, are different because of the flexural vibration of the fixture. The variations of the transmitted force cause the under-test, especially at anti-resonance frequencies, in vibration test control. Anti-resonance frequencies at the attachment points of the fixture must be same in order to avoid the under-test in vibration test control. The structural modification of the fixture is needed so that anti-resonance frequencies at attachment points have the same value. In this paper, the method to calculate the anti-resonance frequencies and those sensitivities is presented. This sensitivity analysis is applied to the structural modification of the fixture excited at multi-points by the shaker. The antiresonance frequencies at the attachment points of the fixture can have the same value after structural modification, and the under-test in the vibration test control can be removed. Several computer simulations show that the proposed method can remove the under-tests, which are not removed in conventional vibration test control.

  • With the increase of storage density, high rotational speed and high access technologies in optical disk drive, mechanical issues, mainly noise and vibration, become critical. Up to now the researches of rubber mount for anti-vibration focused on how to calculate the static and the dynamic stiffness of rubber mount and leaved out of consideration of the dimensional tolerance of rubber mount for anti-vibration. This paper presents the effects of dimensional tolerance of rubber mount for anti-vibration on the dynamic characteristics of optical disk drive by finite element analysis and dynamic test. The relation between dimensional tolerance and dynamic characteristics of optical disk drive is observed and discussed.

  • One of trend of portable devices is convergence with other devices, especially with navigation system. This converged system is generally called PND (Personal Navigation Device). This detachable device is developed for personal entertainment in everyday life and navigation system when deriving, so it should meet the specification of vehicle thermal environment, anti-vibration as well as the anti-shock by sudden drop. In this paper, the way to design the hard disk drive damper with CAE, is introduced to get a reliable system from the beginning of the design step.

  • The mechanical impedance and stiffness of the foundation of shipboard equipments and hulls supported by anti-vibration mount are very important so that the anti-vibration mount can accomplish its performance effectively. But, it is frequently argued how much stiffness and mechanical impedance are necessary for those foundations and hulls. In this research, it is discussed by evaluating the dynamic stiffness of the commercial anti-vibration mounts used in a naval vessel. Consequently, in this research, the minimum level of the mechanical impedance and stiffness of the foundation of shipboard equipments and hulls are suggested considering the dynamic stiffness of the mount which varies as frequency.

  • Optical devices and electronic equipments used in the laboratory of the synchrotron light source building of the accelerator have stringent vibration limits. In order to control the vibration of the building structure and HVAC systems which are main vibration sources are evaluated using experimental modal analysis. Double anti-vibration system is used for the HVAC system and results show that the double anti-vibration system reduces the vibrations of the building to acceptable levels.

  • Constructing urban public housing built adjacent railway site has the noise and vibration problem coming from operation of trains. Thus, anti-vibration plans utilizing anti-vibration pads must be established to minimize the impact of train noise and vibration from the tunnels on the residents of the public housing. Under various difficulties and expectation from the citizens, many efforts were taken to satisfy the amenity requirements on noise and vibration for the residential area. As a results, it can be recognized that amenity standards can be satisfied. But great caution is required to prepare ourselves for various situations that might occur during construction, especially considering that the relevant railroads are still under operation.
