응집과 균질화가 팽화슬러지의 용존공기부상과 침전에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Coagulation and Homogenization on the Dissolved Air Flotation and Sedimentation of Bulking Sludge)

  • The objective of this study is to examine the effect of the coagulation and homogenization in bulking sludge thickening of paper manufacturing plant using DAF(Dissolved Air Flotation) and gravitational sedimentation. The effects of parameters such as dosage of coagulant and homogenization time were examined. The results showed that DAF and sedimentation was affected aluminum sulfate and anion polymer coagulant differently. At the optimum dosage of aluminum sulfate, thickening efficiency of DAF and sedimentation process were increase 1.25 time and 2.02 time, respectively. At the optimum dosage of anion polymer coagulant, thickening efficiency of DAF process was increase 1.35 time, but thickening efficiency at sedimentation was 1.06 time. When anion polymer coagulant of 0.5 mg/l was added in DAF process, water content of sludge was decreased from 96.6% to 90.7% in dewatering process using Buchner funnel test device. After homogenization(20500 rpm, 10 min), Sauter mean diameter of sludge floc was decreased from 631 ${\mu}m$ to 427 ${\mu}m$, however increase of flotation efficiency by DAF was only 1.09 time.

Effect of Propolis on the Activity of Antioxidant Enzymes in Rat Liver Irradiated by X-ray

  • We investigated the effect of propolis on the activity of antioxidant enzymes in rat liver exposed by X-ray irradiation. The dosage of propolis showed the effect of lowering the concentration of superoxide anion in irradiated rat liver, suggesting that propolis has a significant role to remove superoxide anion as an antioxidant and/or by activating the antioxidant enzyme. The activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione reductase (GR), disturbed by X-ray irradiation, were restored in 30 days to normal status in the group which dosed propolis before X-ray irradiation. Interestingly, catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GPOX) activities were highly increased with feeding propolis to rat compared to untreated group, whereas glutathione s-transferase (GST) activity was little affected. Taken together, it suggests that the propolis has a protective role in the rat liver cells against X-ray irradiation by increasing and recovering the activities of antioxidant enzymes.

  • 본 연구에서는 NaCl수용액의 초저이온 농도범위 ($1.0{\times}10^{-4}M$ 이하)에서 양이온 교환수지 대 음이온 교환수지의 비, 수지량, 계의 온도를 함수로 한 혼합층 이온교환의 거동을 실험적으로 연구하였다. 실험실 크기의 연속흐름 칼럼을 통하여 양이온 교환수지와 음이온 교환수지의 교환능이 소모될 때까지의 유출농도를 처리된 유량의 함수로 측정하여 파과곡선을 구하였다. 초기누출은 수지량이 적은 경우 양이온과 음이온의 파과곡선에 나타났으나, 선택도계수가 낮은 양이온의 파과곡선에 현격하게 크게 나타났다. 선택도계수는 파과곡선의 기울기에 영향을 미쳤으며, 계수값이 큰 음이온의 파과곡선의 기울기가 급격하였다. 온도변화는 파과곡선의 기울기에 영향을 미쳤으며, 온도가 증가할수록 이온교환속도가 증가하였다. 이 온도효과는 수지비에 관계없이 수지총량이 증가할수록 또는 이온교환수지의 교환능이 감소하여 파과곡선이 평형에 가까워질수록 감소하였다.

부위별 꽈리(Physalis alkekengi var. francheti) 추출물의 항산화효과 (Antioxidative Activities of Different Part Extracts of Physalis alkekengi var. francheti (Winter Cherry))

  • 본 실험에서는 꽈리를 열매, 꽃받침, 잎, 줄기, 뿌리 등 부위별로 구분하여 메탄올로 추출하고 추출 수율, 총페놀 함량, 총플라보노이드 함량, DPPH radical 소거능, 아질산염 소거능, superoxide anion radical 소거능, 환원력, 철 이온에 대한 킬레이트 효과 등을 측정하였다. 추출 수율은 열매가 가장 높았고 그 다음으로 꽃받침, 잎, 줄기, 뿌리 순이었다. 총페놀 및 총플라보노이드 함량은 잎 추출물이 가장 높았고 그 다음으로 꽃받침 추출물이었다. DPPH radical 소거능은 1 mg/mL 및 5 mg/mL의 농도에서 잎 추출물이 가장 높았고 꽃받침 추출물도 높은 활성을 나타내었다. 아질산염 소거능은 모든 부위에서 농도에 따라 유의적인 차이 없이 높게 나타났다. 꽈리 추출물의 superoxide anion radical 소거능은 꽃받침과 잎 추출물이 높은 활성을 나타내었다. 환원력은 잎 추출물에서 가장 높게 나타났고 철 이온에 대한 킬레이트 효과는 꽃받침, 줄기 및 뿌리 추출물이 높은 활성을 나타내었다. 이상의 결과를 종합하여 보면 꽈리의 잎 추출물에서 총 페놀 함량, 총플라보노이드 함량과 항산화 활성이 탁월하게 높게 나타났고 그 다음으로 꽃받침 추출물이 우수한 항산화 활성을 나타내어 향후 이를 이용한 천연 항산화제로 개발 가능성이 시사되었다.

사과락(絲瓜絡)의 항산화효과 및 3T3-L1분화 시 Cytokine류에 미치는 영향 (Experimental Study on Antioxidative Effect of Luffae Fructus Retinervus and Their Effects on Cytokines to 3T3-L1 Cell Lines)

  • In recent year, We are concerned in anti-aging, disease-protection, long-life, many method are used in solving this problem. Recently, We heard that Luffae Fructus Retinervus(LFR) has effect of anti-aging, disease-protection, long-life. So I let made a experiment for this result. The purpose of this study is to; 1) the anti-oxidant effect of Luffae Fructus Retinervus(LFR) used for 3 methods, those are DPPH radical scavenging activity, Nitric oxide(NO) radical scavenging activity, Superoxide anion radical scavenging activity, 2) cultivation 3T3-L 1 Preadipocytes and Protein chip used for ProteoPlexTM 16-Well Murine Cytokine Array Kit. We measured level of DPPH radical scavenging activity. And we experienced that the ability of DPPH radical's elimination was increased by rising concentration of LFR. When the concentration of LFR was 5 mg/ml, the ability of DPPH radical's elimination was Maximum. We measured level of Nitric oxide(NO) radical scavenging activity. And we founded that the ability of NO radical's elimination was significant when concentration of LFR was from 1.25 mg/ml to 2.5 mg/ml. We measured level of Superoxide anion radical scavenging activity. And we founded that the ability of Superoxide anion radical's elimination was maximum when concentration of LFR was 0.3125 mg. When we inspected Antioxidative Effects with BSA, we experienced that ability of defense was increased by rising concentration of LFR. We known the immunity of LFR about 3T3-L1 Preadipocytes and gained the increase of Cytokines(IL-2, IL-4, GM-CSF) without IL-12p70, $INF-{\gamma}$, $TNF-{\alpha}$ So I guess that Luffae Fructus Retinervus(LFR) has effects of anti-aging, disease-protection, long-life, etc.

이온교환수지와 활성탄의 혼합수지를 이용한 과염소산 이온의 탈착 특성 연구 (Study on desorption characteristics by mixed resins of active carbons and ion exchange resins for perchlorate ion)

  • 과염소산 음이온은 암모니움 과염소산 염 형태로서 로켓의 추진체, 폭발물의 재료로 사용되는 물질이다. 고농도의 암모니움 과염소산은 비군사화과정을 통해 폐로켓으로부터 회수된다. 음용수나 음식을 통해 사람이 섭취하게 되면, 갑상선 호르몬을 합성하는데 필요한 물질인 요오드의 흡수를 방해하게 된다. 소량이라도 장기 노출 시 신장 및 갑상선 기능장애, 생식기능 장애 그리고 암을 유발할 수 있다. 따라서 수질에서의 과염소산이온을 효과적으로 제거할 수 있는 방법이 필요하다. 경제적인 관점을 고려하여, 본 연구에서는 이온교환수지에 흡착된 과염소산 이온을 효과적으로 탈착(재생)시킬 수 있는 조건을 최적화하는 것이 목적이다. pH, 탈착용액의 이온형태, 농도에 따라서 탈착량을 파악하였으며, 이온교환수지와 활성탄을 혼합한 혼합수지를 이용하여 탈착효율이 증가하는 시너지효과를 보았다.

Removal of different anionic dyes from aqueous solution by anion exchange membrane

  • Adsorption is a widely used technique for the removal of dyes from wastewaters by variety of adsorbents. In this work, the main focus is on the potential assessment of anion exchange membrane for the removal of different dyes using batch system and investigation of experimental data by applying various kinetic and thermodynamic models. The removal of anionic dyes i.e., Eosin-B, Eriochrome Black-T and Congo Red by anion exchange membrane BII from aqueous solution was carried out and effect of various parameters such as contact time, membrane dosage, temperature and ionic strength on the percentage removal of anionic dyes was studied. The experimental data was assessed by kinetic models namely pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, Elovich liquid film diffusion, Bangham and the modified Freundlich models equation have been used to analyze the experimental data. These results indicate that the adsorption of these anionic dyes on BII follows pseudo-second-order kinetics with maximum values of regression coefficient (0.992-0.998) for all the systems. The adsorption of dyes was more suitable to be controlled by a liquid film diffusion mechanism. The adsorptive removal of dye Eosin-B and Eriochrome Black-T were decreased with temperature and thermodynamic parameters such as free energy (${\Delta}G^o$), enthalpy (${\Delta}H^o$) and entropy (${\Delta}S^o$) for adsorption of dyes on membrane BII were calculated at 298 K, 308 K and 318 K. The values of enthalpy and entropy were negative for EB and EBT representing that the adsorption of these dyes on BII is physiosorptive and exothermic in nature. Whereas the positive values of enthalpy and entropy for CR adsorption on BII, indicating that its adsorption is endothermic and spontaneous in nature. It is evident from this study that anion exchange membrane has shown good potential for the removal of dyes from aqueous solution and it can be used as adsorbent for dues removal on commercial levels.

Vinyl Benzyl Chloride로 제조된 음이온 교환막의 구조적 고찰 및 전기화학적 특성 (Structural Studies in Anion Exchange Membrane Prepared by Vinyl Benzyl Chloride and its Electrochemical Properties)

  • 음이온 교환막의 치환체 특성을 파악하기 위하여 탄화수소의 분자구조가 다른 세 종류의 음이온 교환기를 vinyl benzyl chloride (VBC) base 막에 도입하였다. 지방족계로 trimethylamine (TMA), 고리형계로 N-methylpiperidine (MP), 방향족계로 pyridine (Py)은 아민화 반응을 통하여 도입되었다. 각각의 반응속도는 막저항(MER)과 이온교환능력(IEC) 변화의 관측으로부터 Py < MP < TMA의 순서로 반응하고 있음을 보여주었다. 한편 SEM image에서는 Py 치환체 막이 가장 균일하고 치밀한 구조를 보여주었으며, 전기화학적 특성에서도 Py이 상용막(AMX)과 비슷한 막저항($5.0{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$ >, in 0.5 mol/L NaCl)을 나타내었다. 이 모든 결과로부터 치환체의 공명구조는 균질한 이온교환막의 제조에 기여하고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

원적외선과 음이온이 인체에 미치는 효과 (A Study of Influences Caused by Far Infrared and Anion on Human Body)

  • A survey was performed for 2 weeks in October 2004 in order to examine the effects and changes of far infrared and anion of office workers aged 40 and older before and after wearing the underwear. In the survey, questionnaires and photoplethysmography were used to measure the difference between the two tests conducted with one week interval. The findings could be summed up as follows: 1. There was no statistically significant difference in changes of vascular aging points and photoplethysmogram wave form before and after wearing the far infrared and anion underwear but the points showed the increasing tendency(p>0.05). 2. A statistically significant difference was confirmed since the total points of each item in the questionnaires increased after wearing the underwear(p<0.001). 3. In connection with the systemic symptoms, a significant difference was found with increased points in all items except for no. 6 after wearing the underwear(p<0.05). 4. With regard to the difference before and after wearing the underwear depending on the Kidney symptoms, there was a significant difference with increased points in all items except for item no. 1 after wearing the underwear(p<0.05). In conclusion, to put on the underwear with effect of far infrared and anion is believed to smooth metabolism and blood circulation, contributing by thus to promoting health and preventing disease. Further studies with wider sampling of subjects are requested to diversify and refine the findings from this sectional study.
