애니메이션을 활용한 영어 듣기능력 향상 방안 (Improving English listening comprehension by using animation)

  • The purpose of this study is to help the students in middle school improve their English listening comprehension by presenting effective teaching and learning techniques using animation. A good animation provides a self-contained world with language expressed in a virtual context. A few animation such as "Mulan", "The Emperor's New Clothes", and "Gulliver's Travel" are presented. The materials are primarily for English listening comprehension, enhance awareness of American culture and life-styles, and to encourage students' active role in learning English. It is suggested that their use with content-based instruction, where animation provides relevant schema background, makes language relevant and comprehensible. Practical aspects of classroom instruction are discussed, focusing on the adaption of pre-viewing, while-viewing, and post-viewing activities to the selected animation. It is concluded that careful animation selection, purposeful lesson planning, and the integration of pre-viewing, while-viewing, and post-viewing activities into the content-based lesson encourage natural language skills, especially the listening comprehension and students' interest in English.

  • NPR 스타일은 3D 애니메이션의 사실적이고 차가운 이미지를 벗어나 창조적인 아트디렉션 도구로서 활용되게 하는 것을 가능하게 한다. 그리고 이러한 표현기법은 기술적으로 도 접근이 되고 있고 다양한 2D적인 재질 이미지 외에도 조명을 활용하여 좀더 폭넓은 연출로 새로운 애니메이션 스타일을 창조하고 있다.

애니메이션 모듈 개발 및 적용을 통한 학생들의 과학과 관련된 태도변화 -중학교 과학과 '태양계의 운동' 단원을 중심으로- (Changes in Students'Science-Related Attitudes Through the Development and Application of Animation Module - With Focus on'Movement of the Solar System Unit in Middle School Science -)

  • The present study aims to develop animation module-based teaching-learning materials for a unit of middle school 3rd grade science, which contains the movement of the solar system, through the utilization of various forms of multimedia elements. The developed materials consist of 12 in total flash animation modules covering ‘movement of the Earth,’ ‘movement of the Moon,’ movement of the Planets,‘ etc. To analyze the student responses to the science classes to which the developed animation modules were to be applied, the researcher selected for subjects two third-grade classes that were made up of 60 students and later divided for an experimental group and a control group in a middle school located in Jeonju. The experimental group was treated with the animation module-based lessons developed in the present study while the control group was taught in the traditional teacher-centered ways. Tests for the science-related attitudes of the two groups were administered and the results showed that the mean score of the experimental group was significantly higher than the mean score of the control group (p<0.05) in the categories of ‘interest’ and ‘scientific attitude’. It was thus believed that the animation module-based teaching has a positive effect on the categories of ‘interest’ and ‘scientific attitude’. To assess the qualitative dimension of the developed materials, the researcher subjected them to the utilization of the 30 local science teachers and afterwards a survey was done with the 8 crucial items taken from the WBI evaluation test developed by Multimedia Education Support Center in 1998. The result was broadly positive in terms of lesson design and from a technological point of view.

초등학교 과학 수업에 적용한 입자 모델의 컴퓨터 애니메이션 교수자료의 학습 효과 (The Learning Effect of Teaching Materials Using Computer Animation of Particulate Model in Elementary School Science Classes)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate effects of computer animations using particulate model in elementary science classes related to air pressure. To do those, four classes of 5th grade in an elementary school located in a city were selected. As an experiment group, two classes were applied the teaching materials of computer animations developed for this study based on particulate model. The other classes as a control group were not applied these materials in science classes. The total scores of experiment group in which computer animation using particulate model was applied in science classes are higher than those of the control group in the conception test. Only in one conception related to high and low atmospheric air pressure, the scores of the two groups are not significantly different at 0.05 significance level.

어린이 식생활 교육을 위한 만화와 애니메이션의 개발 (Development of Comic Books and an Animation as Dietary Education Materials for Children)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop children-friendly comic books and animation for dietary education of 3rd or 4th grade elementary students. Through a literature review on current dietary problems and dietary education for children, 15 educational themes were chosen on both healthy eating and safe dietary life. Comic books and animation were developed based on the themes by the brainstorming and help of professional animators, and they were applied and evaluated in the field. The developed comic books and animation, with its own characters, proved to be of high quality and effective educational materials for children's healthy and safe eating. Compared with the reference group, the tested group has shown a significant improvement in dietary knowledge and attitude (p < 0.05). And both parents (level of understanding 4.29, level of interest 4.49, level of usefulness 4.46, level of design satisfaction 3.95 in 5-point Likert scale) and children (level of understanding 4.63, level of interest 4.57, level of usefulness of 1st comic book 4.44, 2nd comic book 4.49, level of design satisfaction 4.06, level of usefulness for knowledge pages 4.22 in 5-point Likert scale) have shown high levels of interests and satisfaction. Therefore, these materials could be utilized as effective educational materials for elementary students in school lunch time, extra-curricular activities, or after school programs.

  • Technology in the animation industry has evolved significantly over the past decade. The tools to create animation are becoming more intuitive to use. Animators now spend more time on the artistic quality of their work than wasting time figuring out how to use the software that they rely on. However, one particular tool that is still unintuitive for animators is the motion graph editor. A motion graph editor is a tool to manipulate the interpolation of the movements generated by the software. Although the motion graph editor contains a lot of options to control the outcome of the animation, the emotional rhythm of the movements desired by the animator still depends on the animator's skill, which requires a very steep learning curve. More often than not, animators had to resort to trial and error methods to achieve good results. This inevitably leads to slow productivity, susceptible to mistakes, and waste of resources. This research will study the connection between the motion graph profile and the emotions they portray in movements. The findings will hopefully be able to provide animators reference materials to achieve the emotional animation they need with less effort.

  • 최근 3D 애니메이션은 스마트폰, 태블릿PC, 스마트TV 등 새로운 플랫폼이 미디어 환경의 급격한 변화 속에서 애니메이션은 이에 적합한 새로운 콘텐츠를 개발하고 미디어의 전략을 수립해야 하는 상황에 놓여 있다. 동일한 스토리, 캐릭터 소재를 가지고 스마트폰, 태블릿PC, 스마트TV 등 새로운 스마트 미디어의 특성에 맞게 콘텐츠 형식을 다각화하는 개발방법과 새로운 미디어 기술을 기반으로 애니메이션 영상콘텐츠의 개발이 시도되고 있다. 본 연구는 아바타의 3D 동영상 제작 기술인 iClone를 활용하여 아바타를 만들고 의상편집과 모션편집을 통한 3D 애니메이션 제작 방법을 연구하였다.

  • 21세기 영상산업이 고부가가치산업으로 부상하면서 영상산업의 대표적인 장르인 애니메이션도 정부가 주목하는 산업으로 발전하였다. 한국과 중국 또한 2000년대 이후 정부가 애니메이션 산업진흥정책을 실행해 애니메이션의 발전을 꾀하고 있다. 하지만 아직까지 기대만큼의 성과를 거두고 있지는 않다. 한국은 시장의 한계로 인해 중국시장진출을 희망하고 있고, 중국 또한 한국의 영상시장이 활성화되어 있어 함께 성장하고 싶은 시장중의 하나이다. 이에 아직 정부정책의 영향을 많이 받는 한국과 중국의 애니메이션산업의 특성을 살펴보고, 서로 신뢰하고 지속적으로 교류할 수 있는 방안을 모색하기 위해서 양국정부의 정책특성을 분석해 보고자 한다. 한국은 창작기획을 중심으로 하는 제작지원정책이 주를 이루었던 반면, 중국은 애니메이션 수요시장을 확보하고, 제작할 수 있는 공간을 설립하는 지원정책에 주력하였다. 10여년이 지난 지금 한국은 애니메이션 수요시장이 불안정하고 창작공간이 부족해 새로운 인재의 배출이 어려워지고 있는 반면, 중국은 애니메이션 수요시장을 확보하고, 창작공간을 전국 각 지역에 성립했지만, 소재와 캐릭터의 제한과 기획, 창작요소의 결핍으로 원하는 성과를 거두지 못하고 있다. 이런 한국과 중국의 애니메이션산업의 특징을 살려 합작이나 공동제작을 하고 시장을 공유할 경우 양국은 더 좋은 성과를 이룰 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

중학교 화학전지에 관련된 동영상교수 자료의 개발 및 교육적 효과에 관한 연구 (Development of Animation Materials for a Unit related to )

  • 이 연구의 목적은 눈에 보이지 않는 미시세계의 현상을 눈으로 볼수 있도록 애니메이션 자료를 개발하고 그 교육적 효과를 알아보는 것이다. 개발한 11개의 애니메이션 자료는 분자, 이온, 전자 등 입자 수준의 미시세계를 동영상으로 나타내었으며 교사가 ''전기화학''단원을 가르칠 때 사용할 수 있도록 하였다. 연구대상은 중학교 3학년 151명이었으며, 실험 집단과 통제 집단으로 나누어 애니메이션 자료를 이용한 수업과 전통적 수업을 16차시 동안 실시하였다. 처치 전에 학습자의 특성을 조사하기 위해 논리적 사고력 검사와 사전 개념 검사를 실시하였고 처치 후에는 사후 개념 검사, 과학에 관련된 태도 검사, 수업에 대한 인식 검사를 실시하였다. 그리고 4개월 후에 파지 효과를 알아보기 위해 사후 개념 검사를 다시 한번 실시하였다. 연구 결과에 의하면, 애니메이션 자료를 활용한 수업을 실시한 실험 집단이 개념 이해 검사에서 통제 집단보다 유의미하게 높은 점수를 얻었으며, 파지 검사와 태도 검사에서도 유의미하게 높은 점수를 얻었다. 이는 눈으로 볼 수 없는 미시세계에서 입자의 움직임을 보여준 수업 자료가 학생들의 개념이해와 학습 흥미도 증진에 효과적임을 의미하는 것이다.

감정 이입 학습 전략을 활용한 애니메이션 기반 초등학생용 환경교육 프로그램의 개발 및 적용 (The Development and Application of Animation-Based Environmental Education Program using Empathic Learning Strategy for Elementary School Students)

  • We developed animation-based environmental teaching program using empathic learning strategy in order to motivate elementary school students' willingness to practice environmental-friendly behavior and applied it to elementary school students. The subjects were 56 fourth graders, who were divided into the experimental and controlled groups. Experimental group was taught with animation programs using the empathic learning strategy and controlled group took typical classes. There was significant difference between experimental and controlled groups(p<.05) in terms of environmental practice willingness. When examining students' environmental-friendly recognition, this study showed positive result that they were more interested and motivated in the learning process. Thus, it concluded that the environmental animation program using empathic learning strategy was an effective teaching method. It showed that it was more effective to improve environmental knowledge and motivates students to actively participate in instructions and to concentrate on educating materials.
