  • We present preliminary results about the quasi-simultaneous near-infrared light curves of the long-period eclipsing polar V1309 Ori in the J, H, K', and K bands with almost complete orbital phase coverage using the CFHT-IR camera. The optical light curve in the V and R bands, obtained by 1.8m Telescope at BOAO, will be also presented. The shape and the amplitude of the orbital light curve change significantly from optical to near-infrared wavelengths.

  • Germanium in various botanical drugs was determined by flameless atomic absorption spectro-photometry with a graphite tube atomizer. The amounts of Ge in Zingiberis Rhizoma and Angelicae Radix were $169{\mu}g/g$ and $146{\mu}g/g$, respectively. The amounts of Ge in some other drugs ranged from $70{\mu}g/g$ to $130{\mu}g/g$. There is much more Ge in botanical drugs than in foods.

  • $Str\ddot{o}mgren$-system colors for 23 OV stars compiled by Crawford have been compared with colors calculated by Mihalas from non-LTE model atmospheres. In this way, effective temperatures of these stars have been determined and plotted against spectral type, $c_1$ (u-b), (b-y), (U-B), and (B-V). Within the accuracy of the observations, effective temperatures derived from the photometry for these 23 main-sequence stars are found to be in good agreement with Contiis spectroscopical temperatures.

  • We have examined bulge morphology of 104 bright barred galaxies, using V-band surface photometry based on the Kiso Schmidt plates. By measuring the bulge ellipticity and bulge-disk misalignment, we have classified bulges into four morphological types: sphere, oblate spheroid, triaxial ellipsoid, and pseudo triaxial ellipsoid. About half of the observed galaxies are found to have triaxial bulges with mean ellipticity of 0.24. They are distributed uniformly along the Hubble sequence.

  • We derive a new relationship between the giant branch slope as measured in the color-magnitude diagram (K, J - K) and [Fe/H] metallicity for old open clusters. Previously such relationships have been derived for globular clusters, while similar tendency has been expected for open clusters. New derived correlation, [Fe/H]=-17.2($\pm$0.23)GB slope - 1.95($\pm$0.02), is based on a collection of data for 10 old open clusters. Most clusters behave as expected from the theoretical predictions.

  • We present a deep(B, V) color-magnitude diagram (CMD) of the Galactic globular cluster NGC 4372. According to the recent inside-out picture of Galaxy formation, this cluster is predicted to be one of the oldest globulat clusters in the Galaxy. Our CMD shows a well defined main-sequence extending ∼ 2 magnitudes below the trunoff. Despite the uncertainty that stems from the small sample size of bright stars, comparison with the Revised Yale Isochrones suggests that this cluster may indeed be one of the oldest (∼16.6 Gyrs) globular clusters in our Galaxy.
