A Study on Improving Spam Management Index (스팸메일 관리지표 개선에 관한 연구)

  • Although the average amount of spam users receive a day is statistically decreasing in Korea, they still complain of spam and insist there is a gap between the amount of spam users receive in reality and the amount of spam the users feel due to spam. This study analyzes the cause of the gap and suggests the way of complementing the traditional measure of the amount of spam receipt. In addition, we provide the conceptual framework of 'spam management index' that explains the overall spam counteract performances from the users' point of view. Especially, we develop the method of measuring 'spam stress' which can be used as an qualitative output element. Finally we apply the model in Korea to develop spam counteract policies.

  • Lower flux leakage designs have become important in the development of microspeakers used in thin and miniaturized mobile phones. We propose four methods to reduce the flux leakage of the magnetic circuit in a microspeaker. Optimization was performed based on the proposed approach by using the response surface method. Electromagnetic analyses were conducted using the finite element method. Experimental results are in good agreement with the simulated results obtained in one degree-of-freedom analysis from 100 to 5 kHz. Both the simulated and experimental results confirm that one of the proposed methods is much more effective in reducing flux leakage than the other methods. In the optimized method, compared with a default approach, the average radial flux density in the air gap decreased only by 5.5%, the maximum flux leakage was reduced by 28.6%, and the acoustic performance at primary resonance decreased by 0.45 dB, which gap is indiscernible to the human ear.

Influence of the Combustion Flame on the Dielectric Strength of an Air Gap due to Fire Occurrence (화재발생에 따른 연소화염이 공기의 절연내력에 미치는 영항)

  • Occurring fire or burning bushes beneath overhead power lines have caused system disturbances in many countries. In this study, various tests in the simulated condition of power lines were conducted so as to investigate the reduction in insulation strength caused by combustion flame. Characteristics of the ac and dc flashover voltages in the vertical needle-plane, sphere-plane and rod-plane electrode system were investigated when the combustion flames were present near the high-voltage electrode. As the results of an experimental investigation, It was found that the average reduction characteristics of flashover voltages with the sphere-plane system, in comparison with the no-flames case, were about 1/3 times when the ac voltages were applied.

Accident Analysis and Usage Actual Condition about Roller (롤러기 재해분석 및 사용실태 조사)

  • The purpose of this study is to try to find the risk of roller(mixing mill) in working site. In order to achieve the purpose, accident analysis and survey was carried out. This analysis revealed that average of loss days is 334.3 by roller jamming accident and 229.2 by other causes. It means jamming accident entails serious bodily harm. According to our research, we realize that most of rollers have some risk of the jamming accidents. It is simply because the roll gap in the roller is not more than 10cm. It also does not meet minimum distance so as to avoid the risk for jamming accident by KS. Furthermore, 28% of rollers have only one switch and 40% of rollers have two switches operating emergence stop equipment so as to reduce the risk of jamming accidents. Therefore, we presume that it is very difficult to turn on the switch of emergence stop equipment when they confront the accident because most of engineers are working alone.

Prediction of Elastic Bending Modulus of Multi-layered Graphene Sheets Using Nanoscale Molecular Mechanics (나노스케일 분자역학을 이용한 다층 그래핀의 굽힘 탄성거동 예측)

  • In this paper, a description is given of finite element method (FEM) simulations of the elastic bending modulus of multi-layered graphene sheets that were carried out to investigate the mechanical behavior of graphene sheets with different gap thicknesses through molecular mechanics theory. The interaction forces between layers with various gap thicknesses were considered based on the van der Waals interaction. A finite element (FE) model of a multi-layered rectangular graphene sheet was proposed with beam elements representing bonded interactions and spring elements representing non-bonded interactions between layers and between diagonally adjacent atoms. As a result, the average elastic bending modulus was predicted to be 1.13 TPa in the armchair direction and 1.18 TPa in the zigzag direction. The simulation results from this work are comparable to both experimental tests and numerical studies from the literature.

Estimating an Adequate Income Replacement Rate and Suggesting Roles for Pension and Non-Pension Incomes (소득계층별 노후 필요소득대체율 추정과 연금 및 비연금 소득원의 역할 분담)

  • This study estimate the adequate replacement rate of retirement income by income brackets and suggests roles of pension and non-pension income sources to achieve it for each income bracket. Priori research focused on elderly poverty; however, there has been little discussion about an adequate income level for retirement. We calculate an adequate income replacement rate separately for the poor, middle, and high income group as well as the average level of replacement rate for all groups. We also investigate the gap between the adequate income replacement rates and realized rates, and propose roles for each income source to curtail the gap. It is essential to recognize that the adequate income for retirement is unable to be met only by an annuity. To emove the gap, it is vital to utilize non-pension income although annuity is a primary source for retirement. Especially, the public and private pension plays a role to overcome poverty and live affluent in retirement, respectively.

The Effects of Fuel Pellet Eccentricity on Fuel Rod Thermal Performance (핵연료의 편심이 연료봉 열적 성능에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigates the effect of fuel pellet eccentricity on fuel rod thermal performance under the steady state condition. The governing equations in the fuel pellet and the cladding region are set up in 2-dimensional cylindrical coordinate (r, $\theta$) and are solved by finite element method. The angular-dependent heat transfer coefficient in the gap region is used in order to account for the asymmetry of gap width. Material propeties are used as a function of temperature and volumetric heat generation as a function of radial position. The results show the increase of maximum local heat flux at the cladding outer surface and the decrease of maximum and average fuel temperatures due to eccentricity. The former is expected to affect the uncertainties in the minimum DNBR calculation. The latter two are expected to reduce the possibility of fuel melting and the fuel stored energy. Also, the fuel pellet eccentricity introduces asymmetry in fuel pellet temperature and movement of the location of maximum fuel pellet temperature.

Postoperative Complications of Esophageal Atresia and Role of Endoscopic Balloon Dilatation in Anastomotic Strictures

  • Purpose: Esophageal atresia (EA) with or without tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF) is a congenital anomaly that can cause frequent digestive and nutritional problems, even after repair. The most common complication is anastomotic stricture, for which reoperation or balloon dilatation is performed. This study aimed to evaluate the postoperative complications of EA and the role of endoscopic balloon dilatation (EBD) in cases of anastomotic stricture. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed patients diagnosed with EA with or without TEF between January 2000 and February 2021. Patients' baseline characteristics, associated anomalies, and postoperative complications were reviewed. Results: Among 26 patients, 14 (53.8%) were male, 12 (46.2%) had coexisting anomalies, and the median follow-up was 6.1 years (range, 1.2-15.7 years). In univariate analysis, prematurity, low birth weight, and long-gap EA were associated with postoperative complications in 12 (46.2%) patients. Among the 10 (38.5%) patients with anastomotic stricture, nine (90.0%) required EBD. Regarding the first EBD, it was performed at a median of 3.3 months (range, 1.2-7.6 months) post-repair, while the average patient weight was 4.6 kg. The mean diameter ranged from 3.3 to 9.1 mm without major complications. In univariate analysis, long-gap EA alone was significantly associated with EBD. Conclusion: Approximately half of the patients experienced complications after EA repair. In particular, patients with a long-gap EA had a significantly increased risk of complications, such as anastomotic strictures. EBD can be safely used, even in infants.

A Gap analysis of Logistics Functions between Expected Service level and Perceived Service Level (물류서비스 품질에 대한 물류기능별 기대수준과 인지수준에 대한 차이 분석 연구)

  • More manufacturing companies tend to outsource their logistics functions to logistics service providers to ensure their own competitiveness than before. This paper investigates the differences between customer perceptions and expectations on three key logistics outsourcing decisions. For testing logistics service qualities, a research model which employs a SERVQUAL model was developed and a survey targeting manufacturing companies has been conducted. The average difference of logistics service level between customer perceptions and expectations was derived as 8% from a result of gap analyses. The findings here reveal the level of service quality of Korean logistics service providers as well as suggest core capabilities for them in order for gaining a competitive edge on the competitors and improving their performances.

Treatment of Old Achilles Tendon Rupture using Modified Flexor Hallucis Longus Tendon Transfer (변형된 장 족무지 굴건 이전술을 이용한 진구성 아킬레스 건 파열의 치료)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical results of the old Achilles tendon rupture treated with modified flexor hallucis longus (FHL) tendon transfer. Materials and Methods: Seventeen patients with old Achilles tendon rupture treated with modified FHL tendon transfer between March 2004 and February 2008 were enrolled in this study. Technically FHL was pass through the distal portion of the ruptured tendon instead of the drilled hole made on the calcaneus. The mean age of the patients was 37 years (range, 22~67 years), mean follow-up period was 28 months (range, 12~30 months). Patients' subjective satisfaction, calf circumferential diameter, range of motion of ankle and AOFAS ankle-hind foot score and Arner-Lidholm score was evaluated. Results: The average gap between the ruptured tendon was 52 mm (range, 47~56 mm). The AOFAS score improved from 47 pre-operatively to 91 points at the last follow-up. Sixteen patients were satisfied with the result free from discomfort, a patient had mild discomfort who had DM. fourteen patients had decreased range of motion less than 5 degrees while 2 patients had more than 7 degrees decrease compared to the intact side but had no discomfort in daily activities. Nine patients had less than 1 cm calf circumferential diameter difference and 7 patients had 1 to 3 cm diameter difference compared to the intact side. One who had more than 3 cm diameter difference had deteriorated muscle strength. Conclusion: Modified FHL tendon transfer can be a useful technique for the treatment of old Achilles tendon rupture when the gap is with large gap placed too proximal.
