A study on sequential iterative learning for overcoming catastrophic forgetting phenomenon of artificial neural network (인공 신경망의 Catastrophic forgetting 현상 극복을 위한 순차적 반복 학습에 대한 연구)

  • Currently, artificial neural networks perform well for a single task, but NN have the problem of forgetting previous learning by learning other kinds of tasks. This is called catastrophic forgetting. To use of artificial neural networks in general purpose this should be solved. There are many efforts to overcome catastrophic forgetting. However, even though there was a lot of effort, it did not completely overcome the catastrophic forgetting. In this paper, we propose sequential iterative learning using core concepts used in elastic weight consolidation (EWC). The experiment was performed to reproduce catastrophic forgetting phenomenon using EMNIST data set which extended MNIST, which is widely used for artificial neural network learning, and overcome it through sequential iterative learning.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a logical basis for guarantee the effectiveness of the tax support system, which is one of the main measures to prevent the side effects of commercial gentrification. For this purpose, this study analyzes the combination of tax support to replace the loss of net rental income due to stabilize commercial rents and annual rent increase rate that can be substituted through the tax support system based on economic utility of commercial lessors in Seoung-dong, Seoul. The result of this study shows that the tax support system can be used as an effective means to substitute a considerable portion of the net rental income loss due to stabilize commercial rents of Seongsu-dong. However if the rent price continues to rise every year, the tax support system does not work. In order to guarantee the sustainability of the tax support system, annual rent increase rate should be kept below a certain level.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the manner in which Edith Wharton's Ethan Frome conveys contemporary, (culturally) imperialistic ideology. Especially by focusing on the difference between the European germ (or invasion) theory and the 'Americanized' invasion theory, this paper elucidates how the American $20^{th}$ century fiction represents contemporary 'fear' of the immigration of non-whites, that generated anti-immigration public sentiment in early $20^{th}$ century America. Also, this study investigates how racial or gendered biases contribute to attributing all (societal or individual) evils or illnesses to minorities such as (non-Nordic or non-white) immigrants, including women. Wharton's Ethan Frome isn't short of reflecting cultural imperialism.

Reconsidering Confucius' Conservatism: A Response to Archeological Evidence (공자의 "보수성"에 대한 재검토: 고고학적 발견에 대한 응답)

  • Confucius has been viewed as a conservative thinker. Quite a few scholars even argued that it was Confucius who laid the foundations stone of the conservative tradition of Chinese politics. No matter how one defines "conservatism," it seems clear that the relevant passages in the Analects support such interpretation. However, Lothar von Falkenhausen, an archeologist, recently argued that what Confucius upheld as venerable tradition was not a distant past but Confucius own times. This paper attempts to resolve the contradiction between the archeological evidence of Falkenhausen's claim and the textual evidence of the Analects through closer reading of the evidence.

Intratendinous Fibroma with a Flexor Profundus Tendon Tear in the Finger of an Adolescent Baseball Player: A Case Report (야구 선수의 수지에서 심수지굴곡건 파열을 동반한 건내 섬유종: 증례 보고)

  • Flexor digitorum profundus (FDP) tears in adolescents appear as avulsion tears in the FDP tendon, whereas longitudinal tears are very rare. Moreover, there has been only one reported case of intratendinous fibroma occurring in the flexor tendon of a finger. A longitudinal tear of the flexor profundus tendon associated with an intratendinous fibroma has not been previously reported. We report one case of a longitudinal partial tear accompanied by an intratendinous fibroma at the FDP tendon of the left middle finger after a hyperextension injury caused by the impact of a baseball. Given the rarity of longitudinal flexor tendon tears in adolescents, in such cases, the possibility of an underlying pathology should be considered.

Transglutaminase 2 Promotes Autophagy by LC3 Induction through p53 Depletion in Cancer Cell

  • Transglutaminase 2 (TGase 2) plays a key role in p53 regulation, depleting p53 tumor suppressor through autophagy in renal cell carcinoma. We found that microtubule-associated protein 1A/1B-light chain 3 (LC3), a hallmark of autophagy, were tightly associated with the level of TGase 2 in cancer cells. TGase 2 overexpression increased LC3 levels, and TGase 2 knockdown decreased LC3 levels in cancer cells. Transcript abundance of LC3 was inversely correlated with level of wild type p53. TGase 2 knockdown using siRNA, or TGase 2 inhibition using GK921 significantly reduced autophagy through reduction of LC3 transcription, which was followed by restoration of p53 levels in cancer cells. TGase 2 overexpression promoted the autophagy process by LC3 induction, which was correlated with p53 depletion in cancer cells. Rapamycin-resistant cancer cells also showed higher expression of LC3 compared to the rapamycin-sensitive cancer cells, which was tightly correlated with TGase 2 levels. TGase 2 knockdown or TGase 2 inhibition sensitized rapamycin-resistant cancer cells to drug treatment. In summary, TGase 2 induces drug resistance by potentiating autophagy through LC3 induction via p53 regulation in cancer.

A New Effective Mobile Crowdsourcing Control Scheme Based on Incentive Mechanism (인센티브 매커니즘에 기반한 효율적인 이동 크라우드소싱 기법에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, we design a new mobile crowdsourcing control scheme based on the incentive mechanism. By using a novel incentive mechanism, mobile nodes can get the maximum payoff when they report their true private information. As mobile nodes participate in the overlapping coalition formation game, they can effectively invest their resource while getting the higher reward. Simulation results clearly indicate that the proposed scheme has a better performance than the other existing schemes under various mobile crowdsourcing environments.

  • Wireless power transfer systems require an algorithm to determine the presence of the target object for mitigating standby power and safety issues. Although many schemes that sense various external objects have been actively proposed for inductive power transfer systems, not many studies on capacitive power transfer systems have been conducted compared with those on inductive power transfer systems. This study proposes a target object detection algorithm by monitoring the capacitance in transmitter-side electrodes without additional pressure sensors or distance sensors. The proposed algorithm determines the presence of a target object by monitoring the change in capacitance in transmitter-side electrodes using the step pulse of the microcontroller unit. The algorithm is verified by two step processes. First, the performance in capacitance measurement is compared with that of an LCR meter. Then, the verification is conducted in a 5-W capacitive power transfer hardware. Experimental result shows that the interelectrode capacitance increases by 6 times when the target object is fully aligned. Thus, the proposed scheme can successfully detect the presence of the target object.

Study IoT Asset Management System Based on Block-Chain Framework (블록체인 프레임워크 기반 IoT 자산관리시스템)

  • In this paper, we developed the tools enabling to manage the IoT systems owned by managers. Since equipment agents consists based on open-source block-chain framework, we can secure the invariance on data and furthermore can locate the resources by searching the AP connected to the equipments. Also the manager can trace the connecting details on equipments from their block-chain accounts. In addition, we work on the possibility of protecting ARP poisoning attacks by removing the credibility on additional ARP requests being generated during the process of network creation.

  • Fast Fourier Transform in the vibration acceleration analysis system has recently been utilized in the field of sensor measurement. In this paper, we propose a Fast Fourier Transform based method of detecting the normal frequency among the many frequency types of diffuse field. This normal frequency is expressed by the formula of frequency damping recognition which is calculated in a similar way to the octave center frequency. Based on this theory, this paper can more accurately inform noise producers of the degree of damping, which is different from the vibration type of diffuse field.
