  • In order to investigate the soil disturbance induced by anchor-shoe for PVD installation and the anchoring mechanism, a new two dimensional testing system was developed. By using the developed testing system, 1g and centrifuge model tests were performed, simulating the driving-retrieval process of both conventional symmetric anchor shoe and new asymmetric anchor shoe. Various size anchor-shoes were simulated and the results were compared. The images recorded during the installation were analyzed by image processing technique. The results of the image analysis presented the clay disturbance depending on the size and type of anchor shoe. In addition, from the retrieval process, the anchoring mechanism was revealed and the holding capacity was measured. As results, the size of anchor shoe influences the soil disturbance and holding capacity. The new asymmetric anchor shoe reduces the soil disturbance and improves anchoring performance.

  • In suspension bridges, the axial farces in the wires are transferred by side pressure on the semicircular face, and further from the strand shoe through rods to a base plate fixed to the massive concrete part of the anchor block. For prefabricated strands the most common way of anchoring is by socketing the ends of the strands. In this study, strand shoe and hanger socket are analyzed far various load conditions using Finite Element Method. The finite element models are built using MSC/PATRAN and analysis is carried out using MSC/NASTRAN. Results are again completely processed using MSC/PATRAN. From the results of the analysis, trends of deformation and stress distribution are reviewed and important factors to consider in the design of strand shoe and hanger socket are discussed.

  • In this paper the factors developing ground disturbance with the penetration of PDB mandrels are analysed by using field reconnaissance and laboratory test. In the laboratory tests, the amount of smear zones around the PDB mandrels is compared with respect to the shape and the size of mandrels by penetrating model mandrels of various shapes into the reconstituted clay. The shapes of mandrels selected are circular, oval and rectangular. It was recognized from the field reconnaissance that the size and shape, driving techniques of mandrels, as well as the size and shape of anchor shoe could develop ground disturbance. The mandrels that would reduce the smear effect of clay is oval and rectangular shapes rat her than circular one. It was found that the smear effect becomes smaller as the ratio of the long and short edge of the rectangular shape mandrel becomes larger.

  • This study focused on accomplishment of successful life development after discharge a child-care facility even though they had a variety of diversity in hard environment on their own past. Furthermore the research analyzed expression progress and detail information of resilience effect on twenty healthy members of society, who lived theirselves for more than 10 years at out of chid-care centers, based on grounded theory methodology participants. As written in the result section of the study, using the paradigm model analysis showed that it was caused by 'Practical planning for the future', 'Organization of positive meaning' and 'Understanding in another's shoe'. The contextual condition appeared as 'Self examination, 'Seeking anchor as ontology' and 'Natural intimacy among family members'. The centralization phenomenon came in 'Living philosophy of internal stabilities'. The intervention condition appeared as 'Rise up through the world' and 'faith all the world'. The action-interaction showed up as 'Strict self-discipline' and 'Growing up own family'. The consequence appeared as 'Making social family' and 'Being a someone's social mentor'. This research shows discussion in depth based on above analyzed result.
