Suitable rapeseed cultivation techniques of domestic agriculture are essential for stable security, supply and demand of rapeseed. This research developed a rapeseed seeder for bio-diesel and analyzed the seeding performance improving an existent granule fertilizer applicator. The relational expression of metering groove size and discharge rate per time displayed high correlation with a coefficient of determination of 0.988. Also, the scattering types were analyzed by forwarding speed and discharge rate. Validity application width was decided as 7.0 m by analyzing application uniformity at application widths of 7.6 m, 6.6 m, 5.6 m. All average coefficients of variation values were less than 20%. The best application uniformity was obtained in the condition of a work speed of 1.3 m/s and a sowing rate of 19.0 g/s. It was better average coefficient of variation values under 10% at superposition application of rapeseed seeder. Also, scattering amount rates of right and left were within 0.89${\sim}$1.0.

Approximately 240,000 tons of waste shells are produced annually in the south and west coast of South Korea. Some of these waste shells (oyster, cockle) are recycled as seeding collector and fertilizer, but most are dumped illegally near the coast. One of the alternative solutions that can economically utilize a large amount of these waste shells is to apply them to the production of construction materials. In this research, the basic physical properties of waste shells such as oyster, cockle, clam, manila clam were investigated, and were used to prepare cement mortar with a 25% replacement ratio of sand. According to the results, the 28 day compressive strength of cement mortar with cockle and manila clam shells was similar to that of plain cement mortar. The compressive strength decreased by about 18% when clam was used. However, the cement mortar with oyster shell showed about a 35% reduction in 28-day compressive strength, and two times the absorption capacity of plain cement mortar. The reduction in compressive strength and the increase in absorption capacity were mostly associated with the porous nature of the oyster shell.

In order to improve applicability of a microbial fuel cell the laboratory-scaled study has been performed by adopting an air-cathode MFC system with high concentrated anaerobic slugies in this study. The concentrations of microbes are grouped into three types, Type A (TS 1.7%), Type B (TS 1.1%) and Type C (TS 0.51%). The open circuit voltage $(V_{oc})$ characteristics showed that the medium microbes concentration of 1.10% (Type B) kept a constant voltage of 1.0 V for 150 hours, which showed the longest time among three types (Type A and Type C). The discharge charge curves for a closed circuit with $500 \Omega$ also showed that Type B generated a stable discharge voltage of 0.8 V for a longer time as in the open circuit voltage case. This could be explained by the relatively large amount of the attached microbes. Under the $V_{oc}$condition the COD removal efficiency of Type B was found to be low for a long time, but those of Type A and C were found to be high for a short period of time. Therefore, the suspended microbes could decrease the coulombic efficiency. It was concluded that the high $V_{oc}$ was caused by low COD and the $V_{oc}$ became low after the COD removal. The COD reduction resulted in an unstable and low working voltage. From the polarization characteristics Type A was found to show the highest power density of $193\;mW/m^2$ with a fill factor of 0.127 due to the relatively high remaining COD even after the MFC reaction.

BACKGROUND: In Korea, green manure has been cultivated for reducing chemical fertilizer application, maintaining soil fertility, and feeding livestock in winter season. We evaluated the phosphate balance under green manure-rice cultivating system with different removal rates of green manure for maintaining soil fertility. METHODS AND RESULTS: The barley and hairy vetch mixture was selected as the green manure in this study. The barley and hairy vetch was sowed at a rate of 135 and 23 kg/ha, respectively, without fertilizer application. Total aboveground biomass was 12000 (barley: 5400 kg/ha, hairy vetch: 6600 kg/ha) kg/ha, and these green manure were incorporated with different input rates before rice planting. The input rates of green manure in this study were 0 (NPK+0%), 25 (NPK+25%), 50 (NPK+50%), 75 (NPK+75%) and 100 % (NPK+100) and the standard fertilization (NPK) without green manure cultivation. All treatments were applied with standard fertilizer (N-P-K: 90-19.6-48.3 kg/ha) before rice planting. The highest rice yield was observed in NPK+50% which was 20% higher compared with NPK. The phosphate balance with different incorporation rates of green manure was-104.0,-76.8,-52.9,-27.4, and 6.0 kg/ha for NPK+0%, NPK+25%, NPK+50%, NPK+75%, and NPK+100%, respectively. CONCLUSION(S): The use of green manure for livestock feeding in green manure-rice cropping systems could remove a huge amount of phosphate. This cropping system strongly requires phosphate application before green manure seeding for maintaining soil fertility.

Seed production of italian ryegrass has a problem of lodging during ripening and a decrease in quality due to difficulty in drying seeds during harvest. Therefore, in order to produce high-quality Italian ryegrass in paddy fields, it was carried out to reduce the density and solve the lodging problem through transplanting. In this experiment, Lolium multiflorum cv. Kowinearly was transplanted in autumn from a paddy field in Sindong-ri, Gwansan-eup, Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do. var. Kowinearly was made into a bed at 90 g/box and stacked in boxes. It was transplanted on October 27th after 2 days of germination at 30℃ and 15 days of seedling and greening. When transplanting, they were transplanted at intervals of 30×14cm. The existing cultivation method, drill seedling, was sowed at a level of 50 kg/ha, and both transplanting and drilling were carried out at a nitrogen fertilization rate of 45 kg/ha. The number of ears during transplant cultivation was 1,016/m2 and the drilling tended to be higher at 2,278/m2, but this was probably due to the difference in seeding amount. The seed number of an ear tended to be 56% higher in transplantation, which had a significant impact on yield. The seed yield was 2,096 ka/ha in transplantation, which was 21% higher than that of drilling. When looking at the relationship with weed occurrence, there were areas where all the weeds, such as amul foxtail, occurred due to the low density. Even in the same transplanting area, the seed yield was about 1,000kg/ha less in the area where the weeds were abundant. It seems that weed management is important in paddy cultivation. Therefore, it seems necessary to develop an exclusive herbicide for Italian ryegrass cultivation.
Seed coat anthocyanin can be purified by soaking 3 times in methanol solution supplemented with one percent of HCl. Anthocyanin content was very wide range in collected lines and average anthocyanin content of black seed coat lines was 15.07 permillage, but that of white mottled on brown seed coat lines was 0.31 permillage. In black seed coat lines green seed embryo type has more anthocyanin in amount compare to yellow seed embryo. Anthocyanin accumulation was promoted in late maturing lines compare to early maturing lines. Positive correlations were observed among 100 seed weight, days to flowering, days to growing and anthocyanin content, but negative correlation between days from flowering to maturity and anthocyanin content. Collected black seed coat lines were divided into two maturity groups. Group VI which has longer than group V in days to maturity accumulated more anthocyanin compare to group V. When the seeding date was May 15, highest anthocyanin content was observed.

High-density micromass culture was needed to take three dimensions culture with ASCs(adipose derived stromal cells) and chondrogenesis. However, the synthetic polymer has hydrophobic character and low affinity to cells and other biomolecules. Therefore, the surface modification without changes of physical and chemical properties is necessary for more suitable condition to cells and biomolecules. This study was performed to investigate the effect of surface modification of poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA) scaffold by plasma treatment (P(+)) on the adhesion, proliferation and chondrogenesis of ASCs, and not plasma treatment (P(-)). ASCs were isolated from human subcutaneous adipose tissue obtained by lipectomy and liposuction. At 1 hour 30 minutes and 3days after cell seeding onto the P(-) group and the P(+) group, total DNA amount of attached and proliferated ASCs markedly increased in the P(+) group (p < 0.05). The changes of the actin under confocal microscope were done for evaluation of cellular affinity, at 1 hour 30 minutes, the shape of the cells was spherical form in all group. At 3rd day, the shape of the cells was fiber network form and finely arranged in P(+) group rather than in P(-) group. RT-PCR analysis of cartilage-specific type II collagen and link protein were expressed in 1, 2 weeks of induction. Amount of Glycoaminoglycan (GAG) markedly increased in P(+) group(p < 0.05). In a week, extracellular matrix was not observed in the Alcian blue and Safranin O staining. However in 2 weeks, it was observed that sulfated proteoglycan increased in P(+) group rather than in P(-) group. In conclusion, we recognized that plasma treatment of PLGA scaffold could increase the hydrophilic property of cells, and provide suitable environment for high-density micromass culture to chondrogenesis
In order to get healthy seedling of rice suitable for rice transplanter, the growing characteristics of the seedling grown under different growing days and sowing densities were invesigated and the results obtained were summarized as follows; In the 20 days old seedling, the difference of growing state of seed ling and its characteristics between the two types of nursery bed was not found, but for the 30 days old seedling, both of the crop growth rate and the relative growth rate on the band-type nursery bed appeared higher than those on the mat-type nursery bed. And also, "the dry weight, the content of cardohydrate and the ratio of dry weight to plant height of the seedling grown on the band-type nursery bed were much higher than those on the mat-type nursery bed, however the amount of difference of seedling characteristics between two types of nursery bed was decreased for 40 days old seedling and leaf number was not increased. The amount of the seedling growth was increased with less density of sowing and for the difference between the higher and the less density, the difference getting bigger with the longer nursery days. The maximum density of sowing was approximately 200cc per nursery case on the band-type nursery bed and 250cc per nursery case on the mat-type nursery bed. It was seemed that the growing uniformity of the seedling grown on the mat-type nursery bed was better than that on the band- type nursery bed, As the coefficient of variation of the plant height and the leaf numbers of the seedling grown on the band- type nursery bed was higher than that on the mat-type nursery bed.
This study was carried out to analyze the effect of the farm management and productivity increase of cabbages growing in the plastic house based on application of green manure crops such as silage corn, haussolgo (Sorghum bicolar L. Moench), hairy vetch, etc. According to the effect of green manure crop grown in summer season, the biomass amount of the silage corn was the highest; 7,630 kg per 10a, the next was haussolgo, 5,620 kg per 10a. In terms of the fertilizer ingredients, the first of forage soybean was 3.84% of nitrogen, whereas hairy vetch was 1.74% of phosphate and kalium, 4.74%. Productivity increase of cabbages was the highest in the haussolgo plot of which the yield of showed 10,090 kg per 10a and the farm household income would be worth 8,053 thousand won. By growing forage crops in the winter season, the biomass amount was the highest in the mixed sowing plot with rye (50%) and hairy vetch (50%) of 3,590 kg per 10a, whereas the productivity in the mixed seeding with rye (70%) and hairy vetch (30%) was highest, 6,249 kg per 10a and the farm household income would be worth 7,387 thousand won. Judging from these results, more practical on-farm research on applying different green manure crops as a basal fertilizer with cabbage in the plastic house should be considered to analyze the farm management and the farm household income at different sites.
Cultivation area of garlics is 9% of all cultivation area of vegetables. The amount of annual demand is increased in 1,000~1,500ton. Also, the amount of demand per person has a tendency to increase as above 10kg. So, garlics has become important crops in agriculture. The purpose of this study is to acquire the basic information to design the garlic seeder attached power tiller. We used Working Model 3D program to design an automatic aligning device which is the most important part of the garlic seeder. The results are as follows; 1. The optimum depth of garlics seeding was shown as 3cm. 2. The garlic seed has to he discharged from the garlic seeder at intervals of 0.75sec in order to seed at intervals of seeds of 15cm. 3. The optimum design factors of the automatic aligning device were shown as cylinder diameter of 4cm, cylinder gap of 1cm, revolution of 36rpm and inclined angle of cylinder of $8.4^{\circ}$.
