아크릴섬유 폐수의 생물학적 질소제거공정의 개선 (Improvement of the Advanced Treatment for Nitrogen Removal of Acrylic Fiber Wastewater)

  • The effluent discharge standards of industrial wastewater has become more stringent since 2003. Many industrial wastewater treatment plants has been upgraded to advanced treatment facilities. There are high concentrations of nitrate(>200 mg/L) and ammonium(>50 mg/L) nitrogen in the acrylic fiber wastewater of H textile Co. Wastewater from acrylic fiber industry containing acrylonitrile, which may affect the subsequent biological treatment process. Manufacturing of acrylic fiber also produces shock loadings. Excessive acrylonitrile and polymer debris produced in the polymerization process was screened, coagulated with CaO and settled down. A preaeration system was added to treat this high pH effluent to remove volatile organic compound and ammonia nitrogen by the air stripping effect. it was found that nitrification rate was not sufficient in the Anoxic/Oxic(AO) process. One denitrification tank was converted to nitrification reactor to extend HRT of nitrification. Nitrification rate of ammonia nitrogen was promoted from 32% to 67% by this modification and effluent nitrogen concentration was well satisfied with the effluent standards since then.

고온호기성 소화공정을 이용한 탄소원 회수에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Recovery of Carbon Energy by Thermophilic Aerobic Digestion)

  • A lab-scale thermophilic aerobic digestion (TAD) system was operated at $64^{\circ}C$ with mixed primary and secondary sludges taken from a large wastewater treatment plant. The semi-continuously operated reactor at HRTs of 1, 3 and 6 days indicated that longer HRT could stabilize sludge organics and solids comparable to anaerobic digestion. It has been found that reduced HRT of 3 and 1 day produced the effluent with highly biodegradable soluble organics, indicating the possibility of energy recovery in TAD. No proof of biological nitrification was observed at thermophilic operating temperature of $64^{\circ}C$, while nitrogen removal seemed due to nitrogen exertion during the aerobic thermophilic cell synthesis as well as ammonia stripping.

  • The solvent extraction process for the recovery of vanadium from leaching solution of SCR(selective catalytic reduction) spent catalyst was investigated by using Alamine336 as an extractant. The effects of experimental conditions, such as initial pH and concentration of sulfate ion, and ammonia concentration of stripping solution were studied. The extraction percentage of vanadium were increased with the increase of initial pH of leaching solution and decreased with the increase of sulfate ion. More than 99% of vanadium in leaching solution were extracted and stripped at the A/O ratio of 1.0 in 2 stages. On the basis of these results, an optimum solvent extraction process which vanadium was effectively recovered from SCR spent catalyst was proposed.

  • Lab-scale experiments have been carried out to investigate the effect of F/R ratio of ASBR (Anaerobic Sequencing Batch Reactor) process on the removal of the organic matters in ammonia stripped swine wastewater. Three ASBR inoculated with sludge mixed with granular sludge of UASB (Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket) and anaerobic digested sludge of municipal wastewater treatment plant were operated. Ammonia stripped swine wastewater was used as influent. Prior to conducting the experiments with varied conditions, the effect of increasing organic loading rate from 2.34 to $5.79gTCOD_{Cr}/L$-day at a fixed F/R ratio of 0.1 on the organic removal efficiency has been studied during start-up period. As the result of the experiment, under the condition of varied organic loadings, less than $4.14gTCOD_{Cr}/L$-day, the removed efficiency $TCOD_{Cr}$ of the ASBR process is 83% resulted from the mean value of effluent $TCOD_{Cr}$, 9,125 mg/L during the start-up period. Then ASBRs were operated with F/R ratio of 0.024, 0.303 and 0.91 respectively. Organic loading rate was increased from 4.56 to $15.43gTCOD_{Cr}/L$-day to investigate the effects of F/R ratio and organic loading rate on the organic removal efficiency. As the result of the experiment, less than $6.23gTCOD_{Cr}/L$/L-day, F/R ratio haven't an effect on the organic removal efficiency and the mean removal efficiency of TSS, $TCOD_{Cr}$ and $SCOD_{Cr}$ was about 80%, 86% and 78% at the all of F/R ratio. But as organic loading rate was increased from 8.54 to $12.04gTCOD_{Cr}/L$-day at the F/R ratio of 0.024, the removal efficiency of $SCOD_{Cr}$ decreased from 71% to 63%. The range of decreased removal efficiency of $SCOD_{Cr}$ at the F/R ratio of 0.024 was much more higher than at the F/R ratio of 0.303, 0.91. Thus, as organic loading rate was increased, ASBRs were operated with high F/R ratio to obtain high removal efficiency.

  • Emulsion liquid membrane (ELM) process suffers from emulsion instability problem. So far, emulsion produced by mechanical methods such as stirrer and homogenizer has big size and high emulsion breakage. This paper discussed the application of emulsion produced by sonicator to extract cadmium in a batch ELM system. The emulsions consist of N,N-Dioctyl-1-octanamine (trioctylamine/TOA), nitrogen trihydride (ammonia/NH4OH), sorbitan monooleate (Span 80), and kerosene as carrier, stripping solution, emulsifying agent, and organic diluent, respectively. Effects of comprehensive parameters on extraction efficiency of Cd(II) such as emulsification time, extraction time, stirring speed, surfactant concentration, initial feed phase concentration, carrier concentration, volume ratio of the emulsion to feed phase, and pH of initial feed phase were evaluated. The results showed that extraction efficiencies of Cd(II) greater than 98% could be obtained under the following conditions: 15 minutes of emulsification time, 4 wt.% of Span 80 concentration, 4 wt.% of TOA concentration, 15 minutes of extraction time, 250 rpm of stirring speed, 100 ppm of initial feed concentration, volume ratio of emulsion to feed phase of 1:5, and initial feed pH of 1.53.

생물학적 영양염류 제거를 위한 돈사폐수의 반응 특성 (Reaction Characteristics of Piggery Wastewater for Biological Nutrient Removal)

  • This study was performed to investigate the reaction characteristics of piggery wastewater for biological nutrient removal. The reaction characteristics were discussed the fraction of organics, the behavior of nitrogen, nitrification, denitrification, and the behavior of phosphorus. The fraction of readily biodegradable soluble COD was 11-12 percent. The ammonia nitrogen was removed via stripping, nitrification, autotrophic cell synthesis, and heterotrophic cell synthesis. The removal percents by each step were 12.1%, 68.9%, 15.0%, and 4.0%, respectively. Nitrification inhibition of piggery wastewater was found to occur at an influent volumetric loading rate over 0.2 NH$_{3}$-N kg/m$^{3}$/d. Denitrification rates were the highest in the raw wastewater and the lowest in the anaerobic effluent. The denitritation of piggery wastewater came out to be possible, and the rate of organic carbon consumption decreased about 10 percent. The phosphorus removed was released in the form of ortho-p in the aerobic fixed biofilm reactor, it was caused by autooxidation. The synthesis and release of phosphorus were related to the ORP and the boundary value for the phase change was about 170mV. In the synthesis phase, the phosphorus removal rate per COD removed was 0.023mgP$_{syn}$/mgCOD$_{rem}$. The phosphorus contents of the microorganism were 4.3-6.0% on a dry weight basis.

상향류 인 결정화공정을 이용한 슬러지 발효 유출수로 부터의 영양소 회수 (Nutrient Recovery from Sludge Fermentation Effluent in Upflow Phosphate Crystallization Process)

  • 연속 회분식 방식의 실험실 규모 상향류 반응조를 사용하여 인 결정화공정을 이용한 영양물질 회수에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 양이온 공급원으로서 산업폐기물인 폐석회와 마그네슘염을 이용하여 그 운전특성을 비교하였다. 이 연구는 고성능 발효조와 인 결정화 반응조로 구성된 새로운 통합 슬러지 처리 공정에 있어서 인 결정화공정의 성공적인 적용성 평가에 초점을 두고 있다. 발효조 유출수와 유사한 특성으로 제조된 합성폐수를 이용한 첫 번째 struvite 결정화 실험에서 반응은 $0.5{\sim}1$ hrs 사이의 반응시간에서 빠르게 진행되었는데, 그 동안 상당량(약 60% 이상)의 암모니아와 인이 제거되었다. 알칼리성 조건이라는 기질의 고유특성으로 인하여 암모니아 탈기 현상이 다소 발생하였으나 그 정도는 미미한 것(<5%)으로 나타났다. 또한 공기주입에 의한 이산화탄소 탈기조건을 추가적으로 제공하였을 때 struvite 형성속도의 향상은 일어나지 않았다. 실폐수로서 발효조 유출수를 사용한 두 번째 실험에서 stuvite 결정화를 위한 마그네슘염의 최적주입량은 struvite형성질량비와 유사한 0.86 g Mg $g^{-1}$ P이었다. 반면에 폐석회의 최적주입량은 0.3 g $L^{-1}$으로 다소 높게 나타났으며, 약 3시간의 반응시간 조건에서 $NH_4$-N과 $PO_4$-P의 제거효율은 각각 80%와 41%로 나타났다. 각 실험에서 침전물을 현미경으로 분석한 결과 마네슘염을 사용한 경우 프리즘과 같은 결정체가 관찰된 반면 폐석회를 사용한 경우는 비결정질의 결정체가 주로 관찰되었다. 하수처리용량 158,880 $m^3\;d^{-1}$의 실규모 처리시설의 경우를 대상으로 한 통합 슬러지처리시스템의 물질수지 분석결과 결정화 반응조 유출수로 부터의 반송되는 영양물질의 재순환 부하(각각 하수 1 $m^3$ 당 0.13 g N와 0.19 g P)는 매우 낮게 유지되는 것으로 나타났다. 그러므로 이미 산업폐기물 형태로 존재하는 폐석회를 본 연구에서와 같이 통합 슬러지 처리시스템의 영양물질 회수 공정에서 재이용하는 것은 높은 환경적 및 경제적 이익과 동시에 산업폐기물의 지속발전적 처리/처분이라는 다양한 장점을 가질 것이다.

Kinetics of Removing Nitrogenous and Phosphorus Compounds from Swine Waste by Growth of Microalga, Spirulina platensis

  • Abstract Spirulina platensis was grown in SWlUe waste to reduce inorganic compowlds and simultaneously produce feed resources. Spirulina platensis prefers nitrogenous compounds in Ibe order: $NH_4^{+}-N>NO_3^{-}-N>simple-N$ such as urea and simple amino acids. It even consumes $NH_4^{+}-N$ first when urea or nitrate are present. Therefore, the content of residual $NH_4^{+}-N$ in Spimlina platensis cultures can be determined by the relative extent of the following processes: (i) algal uptake and assimilation; (ii) ammonia stripping; and (iii) decomposition of urea to NH;-N by urease-positive bacteria. The removal rates of total nitrogen ffild total phosphorus were estimated as an indicator of the treatment effIciency. It was found that Spirulina platensis was able to reduce 70-93% of $P_4^{3-}-P$, 67-93% of inorganic nitrogen, 80-90% of COD, and 37-56% of organic nitrogen in various concentrations of swine waste over 12 days of batch cultivation. The removal of inorganic compounds from swine waste was mainly used for cell growth, however, the organic nitrogen removal was not related to cell growlb. A maximum cell density of 1.52 dry-g/l was maintained with a dilution rate of 0.2l/day in continuous cultivation by adding 30% swine waste. The nitrogen and phosphorus removal rates were correlated to the dilution rates. Based on the amino acid profile, the quality of the proteins in the Spirulina platensis grown in the waste was the same as that in a clean culture.ulture.

혐기성 질소제거를 위한 고농도 질소폐수의 부분질산화 (Partial Nitrification of Wastewater with Strong N for Anaerobic Nitrogen Removal)

  • 세정단계를 거치는 혐기성 소화시스템(ADEPT, Anaeorbic Digestion Elutriated Phase Treatment)에서 돈사폐수를 처리한 유출수를 혐기성 암모늄 산화공정(ANAMMOX)에 적용하기 위하여 부분질산화 반응조의 기질로 사용하였다. 중온($35^{\circ}C$)에서 아질산성 질소를 축적하는 조절인자는 용존산소보다는 오히려 HRT, pH, 유리 암모니아(FA)였다. 중탄산의 스트립핑과 완충에 사용된 양을 포함한 중탄산알칼리도의 소모량은 전환된 $NH_4-N$ g당 8.78 g이었다. HRT 1일, DO 농도가 $2.7{\sim}4.4mg/L$의 안정상태에서 부분질산화 반응 유출수의 $NO_2-N/NH_4-N$ 비는 약 $1{\sim}$으로서, 부분질산화-혐기성 암모늄산화 결합공정의 ANAMMOX 반응조의 유입수로서 적합하였다.

해수의 포말분리시 공기분산기 기공크기 영향 (Effect of Air Distributor Pore Size in Foam Separator of Sea Water)

  • Effect of the air distributor pore size for the removal of aquacultural waste, such as protein, total suspended solids (TSS), chemical oxygen demand (COD), turbidity and total ammonia nitrogen (TAN) from sea water was investigated by using foam separator. With the increase of pore size of air distributor, removal rates and efficiency of protein decreased. Removal rate by commercial air stone was in the range between the removal rates by G2 and G4 sintered glass discs. Within the range of pore size distributor from Gl to G4, the removal efficiency of protein were ranged from 21 to $42\%.$ The changes of removal rates and efficiencies of TSS, COD and turbidity were similar to proteins. TAN was removed by stripping. The pore size of air distributor for a higher overall oxygen mass transfer coefficient and saturation efficiency provided the condition for higher protein removal rate. Also the foam separator could be used as an aerator.
