고액공존재료의 변형거동에서 재료의 크기가 액상편석에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Test Peace Size on Liquid Segregation in deformation Behavior in Mushy state Material)

  • For the optimal net shape forging of semi-solid materials (SSM), it is important to predict the deformation for variation of strain rate. It should be necessruy to conduct a formation of stress-strain curve in semi-solid alloys for analysis of the thixoforming process. Particularly, important problem to application of computer aided engineering in SSM processing is to prevent a segregation of liquid component during compression process. The liquid segregation is studied as multistage change of the strain rate and test piece size to prevent the liquid segregation during the compression process. The compression test for semi-solid aluminium alloy with a controlled solid fraction is performed by dynamic material test system with a furnace. Moreover morphology of structure and fraction of pore are investigated through compression test.

반용융 단조를 위한 소재의 유도 가열 (Induction Heating of a Billet for Semi-Solid Forging)

  • Semi-solid forging is a compound forging technology to develop conventional forging process. Among several steps of semi-solid forging process, the heating step of a billet prior to semi-solid forging step is necessarily required to obtain globular microstructure. For the forming operation to work properly, it is also important to heat the billet uniformly for the uniformity of solid-liquid distribution. To satisfy these requirements, induction heating has been generally used for a long time. This paper presents the method to find heating condition and the temperature distribution inside a billet with a induction heating apparatus by comparing the computer simulation with experiment for aluminium alloys A12024 and A356.

알루미나 단섬유 및 입자강화 알루미늄 청동기지 복합재의 마모특성 (On the Wear Properties of the Alumina Short Fiber and Particle Reinforced Aluminium Bronze Alloy Composite)

  • In order to investigate the effect of the ceramic reinforcements on the wear properties of aluminum bronze composites, Cu-8wt%Al aluminum bronze alloys reinforced with the Saffil alumina short fiber were produced by the powder metallurgical method and tested by a pin-ondisc wear testing machine. The wear surfaces of the pin specimens and discs, wear debris, and the cross sections of the wear specimens were observed by SEM. The wear mechanism according to various wear conditions and the change of microstructure in the composites were also discussed. In the results, the reinforcement of the composites with alumina short fiber was very effective at the higher applied load over 10N. The material transportation to the counter disc was observed in the alloy specimens without reinforcements. However, the composites reinforced with ceramic particles and fibers showed the resistance against the material transportation.

  • In this paper we observe the protective coatings carbon for steel, aluminium and titanium alloys were obtained by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) under unipolar and bipolar conditions. The anticorrosion properties and the thermal stability of the surface layers were studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and potentiodynamic polarization. It was found that the application of the bipolar PEO mode enables one to synthesize the surface layers that possess enhanced anticorrosion and mechanical properties. results of research of antiscale PEO - coatings for marine power equipment are presented. The combined method of prevention of corrosion and scale formation was tested at the industrial plants of Russian Shipyard "Zvezda".

Al7050합금의 단조 시제품 제작에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Forging Prototype Manufacture of Aluminium 7050 Alloys)

  • In this paper, process conditions are investigated for elimination of the grain coarsening and improved material flow during forging process by both of experiments and FEM analysis. Particular interest has been given to understand role of preform shape on the grain coarsening behavior and magnitude of the hammer forging load. As the results of FEM simulation by using DEFORM-3D, the simulated forging loads were 2,200ton in the case of a machined bar which is machined from 65mm to 60mm diameter, and below 1,900ton in the case of machined preform, respectively. The use of preform has been beneficial for reduction of the forging load and elimination of the grain coarsening. However, in the case of as received bar and the round bar, which was machined to 2.5mm thickness in surface layer, some degree of local grain coarsening behavior has been observed. The optimized preform shape could be properly designed by applying the FEM simulation.

고규소(高珪素)-AI합금(合金)의 고온강도(高溫强度)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Strength of High-Silicon Aluminium Alloys at Elevated Temperatures)

  • In this study, the variations of tensile strength and yield strength of Al-20% Si alloy were studied. Copper, magnesium and nickel as alloying elements added from 1% to 3% respectively. The temperature range was from room temperature to $350^{\circ}C$. The refinement of primary silicon crystal was treated with phosphorous addition. The results obtained are as follows: 1. Tensile strnegth and yield strength showed more increased strength in refining treated alloy than that of in nonrefining alloy at elevated temperature. 2. Tensile strength and yield strength were increased with the contents of copper. Tensile strength showed the maximum at $150^{\circ}C$, but yield strength was decreased with increasing temperature. 3. The effect of magnesium addition on tensile strength and yield strength showed the maximum at 1% addition and $150^{\circ}C$. 4. Tensile strength and yield strength showed a slight increase with the content changes of nickel and they were decreased with increasing temperature.

  • One of the factors influences on microstructure of semi-solid product is forging pressure. Generally, the more forging pressure makes the more fine microstructure in semi-solid compression test. The microstructure and mechanical properties were investigated according to the forging pressure. The applied pressure is 110MPa, 140MPa and 170MPa, respectively. Heat treatment conditions also influence to the microstructure and mechanical properties of semi-solid product. T6 heat treatment was performed and the evaluation of microstructure and mechanical properties was investigated according to the aging time in T6 heat treatment.

  • Semi-Solid Forming Process(Thixoforming, Rheocasting) is a novel forming process which has some advantages compared with conventional die casting, squeeze casting and hot/cold forging. In this study. Thixoforming process was selected as analysis processing in terms of billet handling and easiness of automation process. The Thixoforming process consists of reheating process of billet, billet handling, filling inot the die cavity and solidification of SSM part. In filling process, two rheology models which were Newtonian and Non-Nettonian model (Ostwald-deWaele)were verified with experimental results. The Ostwald-deWaele model shows the good agreement to the real flow and filling phenomena in die cavity. To give a boost the economical efficiency of Thixoforming process and to ensure the good forming result, reheating device coupled die set was proposed and the initial billet temperature for system that was found from experimental resluts. This study presents an overview of application of numerical analysis for simulation of semi-solid metal forming process to reduce the lead time for development of manufacturing part in industrial field.

알루미늄 용탕 보온로의 열해석 및 하부 구조물의 강도해석 (Analysis of Temperature of Molten Aluminium Holding Furnace and Stress of Substructure Frame)

  • The demand on thermos furnace of Al molten metal has recently been getting higher and higher according to the increase in use of Al and Al alloys. This study considers the estimation of the thermal and mechanical stability in the thermos furnace for Al casting. It is executed through the analysis of heat transfer on the refractory material and heat stress on each steel shell. Also, the estimation of structural stability was appraised through the strength analysis of the lower structure. In result, the temperature of steel shell rose to 320.15K and its elastic deformation was about 1.5mm. The elastic deformation of the lower structure was about 0.66mm. As a result of it, the data obtain from the analysis in this study are regarded as stable value on considering that the size of the furnace is 2500mm.

알루미늄 7075 합금의 PEO 처리 기술 및 첨가제 영향 분석 (Study of PEO Process for Al 7075 and Effect of additives)

  • In this study, we developed plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) process for aluminum 7075 alloy to improve the corrosion and mechanical properties. The electrolyte consists of potassium hydroxide and sodium silicate. Additionally, sodium stannate was added into the electrolyte to investigate its effect on PEO film formation. Titanium was used as the counter electrode. Plasma generation voltage reduced from 300V to 150 V by adding 4 g/L of sodium stannate. The thin oxide films were observed by SEM(Scanning Electron Microscopy)/EDS (Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy) for quantitative and qualitative analyses. XRD (X-ray diffraction) and XRF (X-ray Fluorescences) analyses were also carried out to identify oxide layer on aluminum 7075 surface. Vicker's hardness test was performed on the PEO-treated aluminum 7075 surface.
