The effect of alteration of light-darkness cycle on the protein metabolism was studied in the rat. The light-darkness cycle was altered either every 3 or 9 days, and animals consumed diets containing 8 or 25% casein. The results were summarized as follows : 1) Food consumptions and body weight gains of the 25% casein groups were higher than those of the 8% casein groups, and, among the animals consumed 25% casein diet, the light-darkness cycle altered group had lower food consumption and body weight gain than the unaltered group. 2) Weights of liver and adrenal gland per l00g body weight were not different with the dietary protein levels, but, at the end of experimental period, the 8% casein diet group of which light-darkness cycle altered every 9 days had the smallest liver weight and the largest adrenal gland weight. 3) Liver nitrogen and plasma protein concentrations of the 25% casein groups were slightly higher than those of the 8% casein groups. 4) Percentages of nitrogen retention of the 25% casein groups at period III were slightly lower in the light-darknerr cycle altered animals than that of the unaltered group.

Speech synthesis coding is classified into three categories: waveform coding, source coding and hybrid coding. To obtain the synthetic speech with high quality, the synthesis by waveform coding is desired. However, it is difficult to apply waveform coding to synthesis by syllable or phoneme unit, because it does not divide the speech into excitation and formant component. Thus it is required to alter the excitation in waveform coding for applying waveform coding to synthesis by rule. In this paper we propose a new pitch alteration method that minimizes the spectrum distortion by using the behavior of cepstrum. This method splits the spectrum of speech signal into excitation spectrum and formant spectrum and transforms the excitation spectrum into cepstrum domain. The pitch of excitation cepstrum is altered by zero insertion or zero deletion and the pitch altered spectrum is reconstructed in spectrum domain. As a result of performance test, the average spectrum distortion was below 2.29%.

The methodology of applying fabric stretch ratio in the grants pattern drafting was evaluated. The experimental fabrics employed in this study were 3 different knit fabrics with various stretch ratio in vertical or horizontal direction. The firm fitting pants pattern was modified by applying the fabric stretch ratio in vertical ana horizontal direction. The computer automatic drafting method was used for pants pattenl alteration. The suitability of the altered pattern was evaluated by the 7 clothing specialists, The results showed that fit of all experimental garments was improved in general. The garment which was constructed with the fabric having large difference between horizontal stretch ratio and vertical stretch ratio showed poor fit at crotch area. This result implies that computer aided pattern alteration is not appropriate when fabric stretch ratio is vary by the fabric directions.
Total body oxygen uptake was measured in rats following hemorrhage (16 rats) and blood transfusion (7 rats) under light Nembutal anesthesia. Arterial blood Pressure measured on the tail artery decreased or increased following hemorrhage or transfusion. No direct relationship was observed between arterial blood pressure alteration and oxygen intake variation. Hematocrit ratio which changed after hemorrhage or transfusion showed a direct relationship with oxygen intake. Decrease in hematocrit ratio resulted in a decrease in oxygen intake of rats. The correlation coefficient between decrement of hematocrit ratio and decrement of oxygen intake was r=.56. The correlation coefficient between increment of hematocrit ratio and increment of oxygen intake was r=.86. Thus it was concluded that alteration in oxygen intake was limited by the systemic oxygen transport capacity of blood.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder, characterized by varying or persistent hyperglycemia, which induces several changes in the erythrocyte membrane and its cytoplasm, leading to alteration in the deformability. Techniques applied to measure this are based on filtration of erythrocyte suspension through a membrane and to obtain diffraction pattern under sheared conditions. Ektacytometry requiring less quantity of blood with disposable flow chamber used to measure the deformability of erythrocytes obtained from patients with diabetes and also associated with nephropathy and retinopathy. A decreasing trend of deformability in these patients is observed. The shape parameter form factor, as determined by image processing procedure, increases with the increased of blood glucose levels and shows a pattern similar to filtration time of erythrocyte suspensions through cellulose membranes. Further work is suggested to detect micro-level changes in cell membrane in diabetic patients

To provide more safe road and better travelling service for Expressway customer, we minimize settlement of bridge backfill and properly repair the occurred settlement. So, we devide this study to two parts one is construction part and the other is management part, in construction part we remove settlement occuring elements and in management part we grasp proper repair time, and then we produce general settlement management program. In construction part, for the purpose of developing construction method of reducing settlement, we developed construction method models and they are composed of abutment back section alteration and backfill material alteration by literature reviews and site investigation of backfill settlement. And then, we carried out laboratory model test and full size field test of some developed models.

Personal Communication Networks will be composed of ATM-based broadband ISDN in the future. However, unlike the wired networks, many challenges will arise in the wireless communication service such as PCS. These callenges are frequency alteration of cell routing path, relatively very high error rate at transmission over the wireless interface, etc. Particularly, the alteration of cell routing path caused by handoff makes temporary deterioration of QoS. In this paper, the signaling flows of handoff scenarios which may occur on Personal Communication Networks are presented, and verified by Pertri-Net toolkit. In addition, the cell flow control scheme which minimizes the lagging gap between cells and maintains the cell sequence during handoff is proposed. The proposed scheme can be summarized as the differentiation of normal queue and handoff queue, and the cell flow control between these queues. For verification of the proposed scheme, we used two approaches, which are mathermatical manipulation and SLAM simulation.
Recently, knitted materials are used more often than ever before in fashion. Therefore it is necessary to study their application into garment patterns. The purpose of this study was to develop a system by which the tensile property of knitted fabrics can be applied. In this study, 5 different distribution methods of tensile property were tested on 2 sample fabrics which have a lower and higher tensile property than moderate-stretch. The subjects were five women within an age range from 18 to 24 who showed average body figures. The major findings derived from this investigation were as follows; The 4th method was regarded as the most valid. The 4th method was fixed proportional alteration based on the reduction amount of bust girth, i.e. front (back) width and shoulder width reduced by 60% of the bust girth reduction and neck point reduced by 28% of the bust girth reduction. When the reduction was based on the proportion of the actual measurements, the alteration was too severe, so that the armhole curve was changed into a very uncomfortable curve.

The waveform coding are concerned with simply preserving the wave shape of speech signal through a redundancy reduction process. In the case of speech synthesis, the wave form coding with high quality are mainly used to the synthesis by analysis. However, because the parameters of this coding are not classified as either excitation and vocal tract parameters, it is difficult to applying the waveform coding to the synthesis by rule. In this paper, we proposed a new pitch alteration method that can change the pitch period in waveform coding by using scaling the time-axis and compensating the spectrum. This is a time-frequency domain method that is preserved in the phase components of the waveform and that has a little spectrum distortion with 2.5% and less for 50% pitch change.
In the area of the speech synthesis techniques, the waveform coding methods maintain the intelligibility and naturalness of synthetic speech. In order to apply the waveform coding techniques to synthesis by rule, we must be able to alter the pitches of synthetic speech. In this paper, we propose a new pitch altering method that compensates phase distortion of the cepstral pitch alteration method with time scaling method in the time domain. This method can remove some spectrum distortion which is occurred in conjunction point between the waveforms. For performance test the spectrum distortion rate was used as objective criterion and the MOS(Mean Opinion Score) was used as subjective criterion. As a result, the spectrum distortion and MOS are obtained by 0.66% and 3.9, respectively.
