  • The thin films were obtained by plasma polymerization of phenyl isothiocyanate. Polymerizations were carried out in rf(13.56[MHz]) glow discharge generated in an inter-electrode capacitively coupled gas flow system. It was found that this monomer produces uniform films with a wide range of thicknesses, from hundreds of nanometers to tens of micrometers. The deposition rate appeared to be dependent on the substrate distance from the monomer inlet. The IR data revealed significant decrease in -NCS groups content in the polymer as compared with the monomer spectrum and indicated for the appearance of new absorption bands corresponding to the -CN and C-H aliphatic groups. The soluble fraction by GC was found to be composed of numerous low molecular-weight compounds.

고급 지방산 N-아실 콜라겐 유도체의 합성 및 계면활성 (Synthesis and Surface Active Properties of Long Chain N-Acyl Collagen Derivatives)

  • The Surfactants composed of acylated aterocollagen which is produced by the acylation of the side chain amino radicals of aterocollagen with an aliphatic acid having 12 to 18 carbon atoms will be discussed in this study. This condensation is done at moderate reaction temperature (<$25^{\circ}C$) in aqueous alkaline solution. The products of this reaction were identified by UV/VIS spectroscopy and infrared spectroscopy. For these compounds, surface active properties and physical properties including isoelectric point, Krafft point, surface tension, critical micelle concentration(cmc), foaming power, viscosity behaviour, water holding capacity, skin irritation and emulsifying power were measured respectively. The experimental results received that the products have a good emulsifying power, excellent water holding capacity while having low skin irritation. Thus, these derivatives will be expected to be used as an emulsifying agent for O/W type cosmetic emulsion.

플라즈마 고분자에 대한 기체의 투과특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Gas Permeation Characteristics of Plasma Polymers)

  • 플라스마 고분자막을 통한 일반기체들(He, $H_2,\;CO_2,\;O_2,\;N_2,\;CH_4$등)의 투과특성을 조사하였으며 IR 분석을 통하여 플라즈마 고분자의 화학적 구조를 살펴 보았다. 플라즈마 고분자막은 불소를 함유한 방향족 화합물의 플라즈마 중합에 의하여 제조하였으며 이 막을 통한 기체투과실험은 $35^{\circ}C$, 1기압에서 행하였다. 이 막들의 투과계수는 투과기체의 분자 크기가 커질수록 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 플라즈마 고분자의 $O_2/N_2$ 선택투과도는 상용고분자보다 약간 낮았으나 $CO_2/CH_4$ 선택투과도는 상용고분자보다 매우 높은 것으로 나타났다. FT-IR 분석을 통하여 플라즈마 고분자는 방향족과 지방족 구조를 모두 포함한 구조를 이루고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Effective Local Exhaust Ventilation on Cooking Fumes of Seasoned Meats

  • This study identified the fumes produced from the cooking of the seasoned meats containing various condiments such as garlic, onion, pepper, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Concentrations, at the breathing zone of the cook, of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and aldehydes included in the cooking fumes of seasoned meats were identified. Many chloro- and fluoro-aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, ketones, and aldehydes, which could be carcinogen suspecting chemicals, were producing from the cooking fumes of the seasoned meats. This study also identified the ventilation efficiencies of the cooking fumes of the six exhaust ventilation systems, which were widely being used in the general apartments, houses, and small-food factories. For a comparison of the ventilation efficiencies of the systems, acetaldehyde was chosen as a marker pollutant and its concentrations at the breathing zone of the cook were identified. The laboratory fume hood showed the best ventilation efficiency of the six ventilation systems studied, and then the lateral hood ventilation and the down draft ventilation followed the laboratory fume hood. Finally, this study identified that both a wall factor nearby pollutant sources and a distance factor between the hood face and pollutant sources should be also considered for an effective local exhaust ventilation system design.

장쇄 알킬 질산에스테르류의 위험성 평가에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Evaluation of Hazadous Properties for Long Chain Alkyl Nitrates)

  • Hazadous properties were evaluated for Alkyl nitrates such as hexyl nitrate, decyl nitrate, dodecyl nitrate and 2-methyl pentyl nitrate, 2-hexyl ethyl nitrate. The thermochemical properties such as heat of vaporization, boiling point, flash point and kinetic parameter for aliphatic nitrate were measured to determine the hazadous properties of these compounds. The boiling points and heat of vaporization increase as the increase of alkyl chain length in alkyl nitrates. Flash point is a linear function of boiling point as same as alkanes. The rate equation in isothermal decomposition are 1/2 order and compensation effect is found between logarithm of frequency factor the activation energy, then the decomposition preceeds with simlar reaction mechanism for each nitrate.

  • Crystal structure of two inclusion compounds Cd(pn)Ni(CN)4·0.25G (G=toluene and p-xylene, pn=1,2-diaminopropane) have been determined from single-crystal X-ray diffraction data; toluene clathrate: monoclinic P21/n, a=13.838(6), b=26.893(5), c= 7.543(5) Å, γ=90.92(3)°, Z=4, R=0.0616; p-xylene clathrate: monoclinic P21/n, a=13.895(2), b=26.900(3), c=7.613(1) Å, γ=91.06(1)°, Z=4, R=0.0486. The host structures determined for toluene- and pxylene-guest clathrates are substantially identical to the U-type structures observed for the straight chain aliphatic-guest clathrates. However, the alternating arrangement of occupied channels with the guest molecules and vacant channels appears in the host structure. The non-centrosymmetric toluene molecules are distributed about the inversion center to give an image like p-xylene molecule. The guests, toluene and p-xylene, prefer the U-type channel, favoring the interaction between the π-electrons of the aromatic ring and the pn-amino groups to hold the aromatic ring vertical to the cyanometallate meshes.

해수에서 분리된 Zhongshania marina DSW25-10T 의 유전체 서열분석 (Draft genome sequence of Zhongshania marina DSW25-10T isolated from seawater)

  • 이 연구에서는 Illumina Hiseq platform을 사용하여 동해 심층 해양수로부터 분리된 Zhongshania marina $DSW25-10^T$의 유전체 염기서열 해독을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 유전체는 대략 4.08 Mbp의 길이 및 49.0%의 G + C 함량으로 구성되었고, 전체 3,702개의 단백질 암호 유전자, 3개의 rRNA 유전자, 39개의 tRNA 유전자, 4개의 non-coding RNA 유전자 및 36개의 위 유전자(pseudogenes)가 확인되었다. 또한, 지방족 및 방향족 화합물의 대사 경로가 확인되었다. 이러한 대사 경로들로 비추어 Zhongshania marina $DSW25-10^T$는 유용한 생물 정화 자원으로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

쑥갓으로부터 추출한 정유의 휘발성 향기성분 분석 (Analysis of Volatile Flavor Components of the Essential Oil from Chrysanthemum coronarium var. spatiosum Bailey)

  • This study investigated the volatile flavor components of the essential oil from Chrysanthemum coronarium var. spatiosumBailey. The essential oil obtained from the aerial parts of the plant by the hydrodistillation extraction method was analyzed by gas chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. One hundred and one (99.11%) volatile flavor components were identified in the essential oil from the Chrysanthemum coronarium var. spatiosum Bailey. The major compounds were hexanedioic acid, bis(2-ethylhexyl) ester (12.45%), 6.10.14-trimethyl-2-pentadecanone (7.94%), 1-(phenylethynyl)-1-cyclohexanol (6.34%), α-farnesene (5.55%), phytol (4.99%), and α-caryophyllene (4.39%). When the volatile flavor components of Chrysanthemum coronarium var. spatiosum Bailey were classified by functional group, the content was high in the order of hydrocarbons, alcohols, esters, ketones, aldehydes, and phthalides. Sesquiterpene hydrocarbons were the most common hydrocarbons, mainly due to α-farnesene and α-caryophyllene. Among the alcohols, the content of aliphatic alcohols was significantly higher, mainly due to 1-(phenylethnyl)-1-cyclohexanol (6.34%) and phytol (4.99%). The analysis of the volatile flavor components of Chrysanthemum coronarium var. spatiosum Bailey in this study will provide useful information to consumers when purchasing food and to industries using fragrance ingredients.

재래식 정수처리 공정에서 수질계 휴믹물질의 구조 및 화학적 특성분석 (Structural and Chemical Characterization of Aquatic Humic Substances in Conventional Water Treatment Processes)

  • 한강을 상수원으로 하는 재래식 정수처리 시설의 각 단위공정으로부터 휴믹물질(HS; humic substances)을 분리하여 작용기 분포, 화학적 조성, FT-IR(Fourier transform infrared) 그리고 $^1H-NMR$(proton nuclear magnetic resonance) 스팩트럼을 분석하여 구조 및 화학적 특성을 평가하였다. HS의 농도분포는 정수처리 동안 47.2%에서 26.4%(0.97 mgC/L에서 0.54 mgC/L)로 단계적으로 감소하였다. HS 중 페놀기(phenolic groups)의 농도분포는 정수처리 동안 60.5%에서 21.8%($12.2{\sim}6.0\;{\mu}M/L$ as phenolic-OH)로 점차 감소하였으며, 카르복실기(carboxylic groups)의 경우 전염소처리 이후 39.5%($7.9\;{\mu}M/L$ as COOH)에서 46.9%($10.6\;{\mu}M/L$ as COOH)로 증가하였지만 응집 침전 그리고 모래여과 이후 34.2%($9.4\;{\mu}M/L$ as COOH)까지 단계적으로 감소하였다. 또한 원소분석과 FT-IR 및 $^1H-NMR$ 분석결과 정수처리 공정을 거치면서 카르복실기의 분율이 증가하고 방향족에 대한 지방족 양성자의 비($P_{Al}/P_{Ar}$)가 증가하는 것으로 조사되어 상대적으로 지방족 화합물의 물질분율이 증가하는 것을 확인하였다.

홍삼에 함유된 갈변물질 및 산성다당체에 대한 연구현황 (Current Studies on Browning Reaction Products and Acidic Polysaccharide in Korean Red Ginseng)

  • 우리나라의 건강기능식품법에서는 인삼 또는 홍삼의 기능성이 자양강장, 면역증진 및 원기회복으로 한정되어 있다. 지금까지 홍삼에 함유된 갈변물질과 산성다당체에 대해서 많은 연구가 수행되었는데, 갈변물질은 항산화 활성과 면역증진기능, 그리고 산성다당체는 소화기관암의 증상개선, 면역기능 증진, 혈압개선, 혈액응고방지, 조혈기능, 알콜해독(간기능 회복, 고지혈 개선 등) 등의 효능이 우수하다고 보고되었다. 이러한 관점에서 현재 인삼과 홍삼의 3가지 기능성외에 항산화활성이라든지 그 외 더 많은 기능성을 추가할 필요성이 있으며, 또 홍삼에 함유되어 있는 활성성분을 적극적으로 이용하여 기준규격형제품은 물론이고 질병위험감소에 대해서 기능성을 표시할 수 있는 개별인정형 제품이나 나아가서는 일반 또는 전문의약품으로 개발하여 홍삼의 이용 가능성을 극대화시키고 국제적으로 경쟁력이 있는 한국인삼으로 그 위상을 제고시켜야 한다고 생각한다.
