  • In this work the AC loss measurement setup based on an iron core background magnet, not used in a conventional one, has been successfully developed, To prove its validity, a round-robin test for the same Bi-2223 tape sample among three institutes has been done. The results show that test data from the developed setup well agree with losses measured at different institutes.

  • Hydraulic systems of rope brake for elevators are modelled to evaluate design parameters such as cylinder pressure, pis-ton displacement, accumulator capacity, and so on. To assure the results, experiments were performed. The analysis results agree well with the experimental results. The scheme in this study is expected to be utilized in the design of rope brake system for elevators to get design parameters and to improve the safety.

  • This study is concerned with process capability index in single process. We enumerated issues on the calculation of process capability index and described the effects of these issues. We explained the development process and the reason of the representative existing process capability indices. We investigated whether the indices agree with the concept of process capability and drew the problems from those results. In addition, we proposed alternative and direction to seize the process capability necessary to the field.

  • The electric fields of the sheath region in an argon do discharge were measured using a laser optogalvanic spectroscopy in a pressure range from 0.88 to 10 Torr, where collisions are significant in the sheath region. The sheath width is estimated as the position where the electric field becomes zero, and the pressure dependence of the measured sheath width was obtained to be $(pressure)^{-1/3}$. The measured electric fields agree well with one-dimensional simulation results but are slightly different from collisional sheath theory in the mobility limited region.

  • A circuit of sigmoid function for neural network is designed by using Piecewise Linear (PWL) method. The slope of sigmoid function can be adjusted to 2 and 0.25. Also the circuit presents both sigmoid function and its differential form. The circuits is simulated by using ViewLogic. Theoretical and simulated performance agree with 1.8 percent.

  • A multidimensional numerical simulation of turbulent combustion in a constant volume bomb is implemented to clarify the effects of swirl on combustion. This simulation includes the ICED-ALE numerical technique, the skew-upwind differencing scheme, the modified .Kappa.-.epsilon. turbulence model, and the combustion model of the Arrhenius type and the turbulence-mixing-control type. The calculations of the turbulent combustion with swirl are carried out. It shows that the results agree with the measurements allowably. Therefore, the effects of swirl on turbulent combustion are examined through the parametric study of swirl.

  • In this paper, Designed Quadrature hybrid coupler apply Open-PI equivalent transmission line. Using the proposed structure we achieve significant size reduction with the same results of conventional quadrature hybrid coupler at 912MHz. The measured frequency responses agree well with simulated one.

The comparison was performed for the recently develop 1 A and 5 A current shunts at KRISS. The results of the both phase angle and ratio error of the resistive shunts are agree within the level of $\pm$1.5ppm and $\pm$5ppm respectively at 50 Hz.

  • In this paper a new fading model is proposed, which is well consistent with the real environment of smart antenna applications since it is spatially and temporally correlated simultaneously. The new model(STCFM: Spatially and Temporally Correlated Fading Model) is derived statistically in spatio-temporal domain so that it can provide high accuracy in the evaluation of the smart antenna system. As will be seen, the simulation results agree well with the theory.
