In this paper, a multi-agent control system for DC-coupled photovoltaic (PV), fuel cell (FC), ultracapacitor(UC) and battery hybrid power system is studied for commercial buildings & apartment buildings microgrid. In this proposed system, the PV system provides electric energy to the electrolyzer to produce hydrogen for future use and transfer to the load side, if possible. Whenever the PV system cannot completely meet load demands, the FC system provides power to meet the remaining load. A multi-agent system based-power management and control algorithm is proposed for the hybrid power system by taking into account the characteristics of each power source. The main works of this paper are hybridization of alternate energy sources with FC systems using long and short storage strategies to build the multi-agent control system with pragmatic design, and a dynamic model proposed for a PV/FC/UC/battery bank hybrid power generation system. A dynamic simulation model for the hybrid power system has been developed using Matlab/Simulink, SimPowerSystems and Stateflow. Simulation results are also presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed multi-agent control and management system for building microgrid.

Yhis paper describes a fault diagnosis simulation of the Real-Time Multiple Fault Dignosis System (RTMFDS) for forcasting faults in a system and deciding current machine state from signal information. Comparing with other diagnosis system for single fault, the system developed deals with multiple fault diagnosis, comprising two main parts. One is a remotesignal generating and transimission terminal and the other is a host system for fault diagnosis. Signal generator generate the random fault signal and the image information, and send this information to host. Host consists of various modules and agents such as Signal Processing Module(SPM) for sinal preprocessing, Performence Monotoring Module(PMM) for subsystem performance monitoring, Trigger Module(TM) for multi-triggering subsystem fault diagnosis, Subsystem Fault Diagnosis Agent(SFDA) for receiving trigger signal, formulating subsystem fault D\ulcornerB and initiating diagnosis, Fault Diagnosis Module(FDM) for simulating component fault with Hierarchical Artificial Neural Network (HANN), numerical models and Hofield network,Result Agent(RA) for receiving simulation result and sending to Treatment solver and Graphic Agent(GA). Each agent represents a separate process in UNIX operating system, information exchange and cooperation between agents was doen by IPC(Inter Process Communication : message queue, semaphore, signal, pipe). Numerical models are used to deseribe structure, function and behavior of total system, subsystems and their components. Hierarchical data structure for diagnosing the fault system is implemented by HANN. Signal generation and transmittion was performed on PC. As a host, SUN workstation with X-Windows(Motif)is used for graphic representation.

Three different improvements of the Velocity-based model were proposed in a minimal velocity-based pedestrian model. The improvements of the models are based on the different agent forms. The different representations of the agent lead to different results, in this paper, we simulated the pedestrian movements in some typical scenes by using different agent forms, and the agent forms included the circles with different radiuses, the ellipse and the multi-circle stand for one pedestrian. We have proposed a novel model of pedestrian dynamics to optimize the simulation. Our model specifies the pedestrian behavior using a dynamic ellipse, which is parameterized by their velocity and can improve the simulaton accuracy. We found a representation of the pedestrian much closer to the reality. The phenomena of the self-organization can be observable in the improved models.
Recently the intelligent agent systems have been emerged as one of key issues for developing the defense M&S systems. However, most conventional agent architecture of M&S systems utilize the script-based models and can only deal with the individual behaviors so that they cannot suitably describe the precise tactical/strategic behavior and/or complex warfare environment. To overcome these problems, we have proposed the hierarchical multi-agent system architecture that is able to intelligently cope with the complex missions based on the functional role of each agent on the hierarchy such as an intelligence officer, captain, warship commander. Several simulation tests performed on 2:2 warship warfare models will illustrate our techniques.
In this study, we propose a reinforcement learning agent to control the data transmission rates of nodes in carrier sensing multiple access with collision avoidance (CSMA/CA)-based wireless networks. We design a reinforcement learning (RL) agent, based on Q-learning. The agent learns the environment using the timeout events of packets, which are locally available in data sending nodes. The agent selects actions to control the data transmission rates of nodes that adjust the modulation and coding scheme (MCS) levels of the data packets to utilize the available bandwidth in dynamically changing channel conditions effectively. We use the ns3-gym framework to simulate RL and investigate the effects of the parameters of Q-learning on the performance of the RL agent. The simulation results indicate that the proposed RL agent adequately adjusts the MCS levels according to the changes in the network, and achieves a high throughput comparable to those of the existing data transmission rate adaptation schemes such as Minstrel.
This paper focuses on the sensitivity analysis for the calibration of an agent-based simulation that analyzes the brand-level diffusion dynamics of competing products in the domestic premium mid-sized car market. In this paper, we employ a consumer-agent model that imitates the purchasing characteristics and behaviors of the consumers. The group of consumer agents that are socially interconnected represents a virtual market. By spreading the product information from previous adopters to potential consumer agents in the virtual market, the word-of-mouth phenomenon emerges like in the real market. The phenomenon influences the product choice of potential consumer agents that causes the variation of the product diffusion dynamics. In this simulation model, it is important to calibrate the virtual market parameters(e.g., ratio of innovators, social network structure, purchase time decision method) so that the virtual market can simulate the real market. However, it is difficult to measure these parameters directly from the real market. In this paper, we analyze the diffusion dynamics of simulations under various conditions in comparison with real sales data to calibrate the parameters.
In this paper, we consider a two-agent single-machine scheduling problem with exponential job-dependent position-based learning effects. The objective is to minimize the total weighted completion time of one agent with the restriction that the makespan of the other agent cannot exceed an upper bound. First, we propose a branch-and-bound algorithm by developing some dominance /feasibility properties and a lower bound to find an optimal solution. Second, we design an efficient simulated annealing (SA) algorithm to search a near optimal solution by considering six different SAs to generate initial solutions. We show the performance superiority of the suggested SA using a numerical experiment. Specifically, we verify that there is no significant difference in the performance of %errors between different considered SAs using the paired t-test. Furthermore, we testify that random generation method is better than the others for agent A, whereas the initial solution method for agent B did not affect the performance of %errors.

Since the competitive market environment was introduced into the electric power industry, the structure of the industry has been changing from vertically integrated system to functionally unbundled and decentralized system composed of multiple (decision-making) market participants. So the market participants such as Gencos or LSE (load serving entity) need to forecast the market clearing price and thus build their offer or bidding strategies. Not just these market players but also a market operator is required to perform market analysis and ensure simulation capability to manage and monitor the competitive electricity market. For fulfilling the demand for market simulation, many global venders like GE, Henwood, Drayton Analytics, CRA, etc. have developed and provided electricity market simulators. Most of these simulators are based on the optimization formulation which has been used mainly for the least cost resource planning in the centralized power system planning and operation. From this standpoint, it seems somehow inevitable to face many challenges on modeling competitive market based on the method of traditional market simulators. In this paper, we propose a kind of new method, which is MAS based market simulation. The agent based model has already been introduced in EMCAS, one of commercial market simulators, but there may be various ways of modeling agent. This paper, in particular, seeks to introduce an model for MAS based market simulator.
Modeling and Simulation (M&S) systems which deal with situational complexity often require human involvement due to the high-level decision-making that is necessary for ship movement, navigation, control center management, shipping company logistics, meteorological system information, and maritime transportation GIS. In order to properly simulate maritime traffic, it is necessary to accurately model the human decision-making process of the ship officer, including aspects of the ship officer's behavioral tendencies, personal navigation experience, and pattern of voyage errors, as this is the most accurate way in which to reproduce and predict realistic maritime traffic conditions. In this paper, which looks at agent-based maritime traffic simulation, we created a basic survey in order to conduct behavior analysis on ship operators' collision avoidance strategies. Using the information gathered throughout the survey, we developed an agent-based navigational behavior model which attempts to capture the behavioral patterns of a ship officer during an instance of ship collision. These results could be used in the future in further developments for more advanced maritime traffic simulation.
In the past, most of battle occurred in flatland and simple military force size gave a big influence in combat result. However, after the World War I, most of battles took place at the various terrain features such as forest, downtown, jungle and many others. Therefore, terrain factor exerts big influence on battle with weapon system in the ground warfare. However, effect of terrain has been explained only by quantitative manner in the battle. Furthermore, combat simulation and modeling applied a method that lower the combat capability of battle factors. In this paper, we present instrumentation that evaluate impact of terrain using fractal dimension. We determine the fractal dimension value by the "box counting dDimension" and density to calculate impact of terrain. Furthermore, we analyzed correlation with fractal dimension and density for battle result that obtained from the EINSTein model which is an agent-based simulation. We compare with 'Stalingrad battle' result out of battle example and analyzed. This study presented a method combat effectiveness that effect of terrain calculate quantitatively using fractal dimension.
