  • Value is an intellectual and an affective concept that influences behavior. It does not exist individually but is conveyed through generation with some system. Korean students showed high achievement scores in spite of low emotion in mathematics learning. The objects of value recognition ought to be extended to social value as well as mathematics for balancing intellectual and affective features. Since the value formed at the first step in mathematics learning keeps its influence even after learning, it is important to form a positive recognition in the value. The following conclusions were drawn. First, the mathematics learning value instrument developed in this study. It is appropriate to explain a students' imbalance of intellectual and affective characteristics. Second, it is possible that the intellectual achievement of Korean students are influenced by the others-oriented value in particular. Third, the recognition of the mathematics learning value of elementary school students would have an influence on secondary school learning. Therefore, education for parents of elementary school students is required. This study can provide a basis on the view of the mathematics learning value which influences the educational result of Korean elementary students as well. It is expected from the following studies that focus on improving affective characteristics on mathematics learning of Korean students is beneficial.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine changes in Korean middle school students' affective attitudes toward mathematics over the past 5 cycles of TIMSS. To this end, we first analyzed the changes in students' affective attitudes towards mathematics in five major countries, and then analyzed the changes in Korean students' affective attitudes toward mathematics by item. As a result of the study, there were positive changes in Korean students' interest, confidence, and value perception of mathematics during the recent 5 cycle of TIMSS. Korean male students' affective attitude toward mathematics is higher than that of female students, and the gender gap has been increasing recently. There was a large difference in the affective attitudes toward mathematics among Korean students, depending on their achievement level, and in particular, the affective attitudes toward mathematics of students at the lower achievement level remained significantly low. Item-level analysis revealed a decrease in Korean students' awareness of the necessity of mathematics in daily life. Based on these results, we discussed the implications for cultivating Korean students' affective attitudes. It is hoped that the results of this study will be meaningfully used as basic data for examining the performance of mathematics education in Korea and contribute to developing measures to foster students' positive attitudes toward mathematics.

  • According to the social learning theory, leader' organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) is a predisposing factor for follower' OCB, because they acknowledge and imitate leader as a desirable example of behaviors for organizational and individual success. We investigate social learning effect of leader OCB on follower OCB and examine the moderating role of political skill in the mediated relationship between leaders OCB and follower OCB (with followers' affective organizational commitment as the mediator). We find that follower's affective organizational commitment may mediate the relationship between leader OCB and follower OCB. Furthermore, we find that follower with high political skill may focus on the instrumental value of OCB. Political skill moderates the relationship between follower' affective organizational commitment and follower OCB. Data from 325 leader-follower dyads support the hypothesis. Theoretical and practical implications of these findings are also discussed.

  • This study aimed to explore the affective characteristics of primary and middle school students in mathematics and to analyze the relationship between the affective characteristics and initiative in mathematics learning. For the purpose of this study, a survey was conducted for students in a primary and a middle school in Incheon area. The questionnaires using in this study consisted of five affective domains of interest, self-efficacy, value, self-regulation, and mathematics anxiety. The results of this study showed that the participant students' affective characteristics tended to be decreased by grades. Moreover, the gender differences were increase as the participant students grew older. Students who take the initiative in mathematics learning showed better affective characteristics in general than students who depends on other assistants.

  • Recently market potentials of Asian cruise service have driven big western incumbents to make an strategic entry into Asian cruise market. However Korean cruise industry has been on the initiating stage focused on coastal cruise service. Under the circumstances, Korean firms which have intention to provide cruise service ought not to depend mainly on government's institutional supports such as expansion of social infrastructure and consolidation of related law, but to explore and utilize service-oriented factors for customer satisfaction as fundamentals for competitive strategies with some considerations. In this study, we expanded the perceived value literature by demonstrating the role of selected affective factors such as novelty and hedonics on value in the context of cruise service experiences. We also examined the role of customer satisfaction in the affect-value relationship. According to the results, it is analyzed that such determinants of perceived value in cruise-ferry service like novelty and hedonics have some positive influences on customer satisfaction of cruise service. In particular, hedonics is strongly linked to cruise vacationers' value perceptions and repurchase intentions. Overall satisfaction as a mediator accounted for the relationship between affective antecedents and perceived value. The managerial findings of this research are also briefly discussed.

  • In environmental value education, the difference between Ecological and Economic view-point about environmentmust should be considered. Usually, although the differences are unavoidable, because our lifes are inclined to Economic life. But this propensity have become great obstacles to Environmental value education by diluting the fundamental reasons which the nature should be preserved. Furthermore we can't say that environmental problems are not solved just by economic approach, owing to its limits of solving by incentives. So we can say that it is very important to have equalized view-points in the relations of economics and ecology for balanced environmental value education. This study is to alternative environmental value education program, to have equalized view-points in the relations of economics and ecology through the small community located in Japan. The exact name of that program is GENSANGGAI. They have persued to attain a spiritual state of complete absence of ego through this program, and this spiritual state can be important environmental value educaton goal, which make the student to see the evironment with equalized view-points in the interdependence between economics and ecology. we can say that this program can be a kind affective (sentimentally perceived) environmental education program. It can be good environmental education program in affective domain. we can say that equalized view-points is to attain a spiritual state of complete absence of ego. This program is some similar to Kohlberg's latter term theory and Open educationin theory in substantial aspect, he persued Just Community Approach through Kibbutz in Israel. From the basis of his theory, if the GENSANGGAI program, which means harmony between socialization and development of moral stage, individualism and communism.

  • This study is to understand fashion product aesthetics by exploring the antecedents of aesthetic experiences and the influence of aesthetic experiences on impulse buying behavior. A total of 520 usable questionnaires were obtained through an internet survey. A structural equation model using a correlation matrix with maximum likelihood was estimated by using AMOS 18.0 to examine the relationships among aesthetic value, aesthetic acumen, affective experience, cognitive experience, and impulse buying behavior. The results showed that aesthetic value and acumen had a significant effect on the cognition of aesthetic experiences and that aesthetic experiences had a significant effect on impulse buying behavior. These results highlight the powerful motivational force behind fashion product aesthetics. The key implications for research and management are discussed further.
