The present study is to analyze the dimensions of affective responses according to the types of appeal in underwear advertisements and to find out the influences of affective res-ponses on the attitudes toward advertisement and brands. The research has been made by normative-descriptive survey method with the sample of 654 consumers residing in Seoul and Incheon. The data gaathered was analyzed by the methods of means, standard deviation, ANOVA, factor analysis and regression. The result are as follows : 1. There are 4 dimensions of affective responses ; Emotional dimension, Negative dimen-sion, Upbeat-activation dimension and Sexual activation dimension. 2. Affective responses to the advertising were different according to the characteristics of the consumers. According to the consumer's sex, there are significant differences in each dimension of their affective responses. To the sex appeal advertisement, man show higher degree of affective responses in Emotional, Upbeat-activation and Sexual-activation dim-ensions, while women show higher degree of affective responses in Negative dimension. 3. In case of female consumers, there are significant differences in affective responses to the both appeal type of advertisements according to consumer's age. As the age is increasing. Emotional dimension and Sexual-activation dimension are increasing, but Negative dimension is decreasing in the Ads with sex appeal. In particular, the 19∼24s age group shows strong responses in the Emotional dimension, Upbeat-activation dimension and Sexual-activation dimension to Ads with sex appeal, while it shows the lowest affective responses in Negative dimension. It represents the 19-24s age group is the most positive one to the under-wear advertisements with sex appeal. Consequently, it is proved that the Ads with sex appeal focusing on this age group can be one of the most effective advertising plans. 4. The involvement gets higher, Upbeat-ac-tivation dimension and Sexual-activation dimension are increasing both in males and female groups. But Negative dimension is in-creasing in the female consumer group of low involvement. 5. The attitudes toward advertisements and brands are comparatively stronger in the advertisements using sex appeal type. Regardless of types of appeal in the advertisements, there is a significant difference in their attitudes tow-ard Ads between male and female consumer groups. When Ads are sexual, attitudes toward Ads and Brands are stronger in the female consumer group. But males consumers show com-paratively strong attitudes toward the advertis-ements and brands in both types of appeal. 6. The age of consumers doesn't make any significant difference in their attitudes toward advertisements and brands in both types of appeal. 7. According to the involvement level of the consumers, there are significant differences in their attitudes toward advertisements. In the groups of low involvement, the female consumers show more favorite attitudes toward the advertisements with sex appeal, while the male group show more favorite attitudes toward the non-sex appeal advertisement. But there is no significant difference in consumer's attitude toward brands according to the types of appeal of the advertisement. 8. The affective responses of the consumers caused by the underwear advertisements have a respectable influence on their attitudes toward the advertisements and brands. This research represents that the advertisers should try to arise consumer's positive affective responses such as pleasant, happy, cheerful and warm-hearted emotions by the advertisements. Based on the above results of the research, it can be said that the consumer's affective responses have a strong effect not only on their attitudes toward adver-tisements but on those toward attitude toward the brands.
The aim of affective engineering is to develop a new product by translating customer affections into design factors. Affective data have so far been analyzed using a multivariate statistical analysis, but the affective data do not always have linear features assumed under normal distribution. Rough sets model is an effective method for knowledge discovery under uncertainty, imprecision and fuzziness. Rough sets model is to deal with any type of data regardless of their linearity characteristics. Therefore, this study utilizes rough sets model to extract affective knowledge from affective data. Four types of scent alternatives and four types of sounds were designed and the experiment was performed to look into affective differences in subject's preference on air conditioner. Finally, the purpose of this study also is to extract knowledge from affective data using rough sets model and to figure out the relationships between rough sets based affective engineering method and statistical one. The result of a case study shows that the proposed approach can effectively extract affective knowledge from affective data and is able to discover the relationships between customer affections and design factors. This study also shows similar results between rough sets model and statistical method, but it can be made more valuable by comparing fuzzy theory, neural network and multivariate statistical methods.
Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the contribution of emotional labor (surface acting, deep acting) and organizational commitment (affective commitment, continuance commitment) to turnover intention and customer orientation of school foodservice dietitian. Methods: Our survey was administered to 393 school foodservice dietitian in the Busan area on February 11, 2014. Results: For verification of mean differences, the mean scores for surface acting, deep acting, affective commitment, and continuance commitment were found to be 2.53/5.00, 3.71, 2.88, and 3.57, respectively. The mean surface acting score was significantly different according to age (p<0.001), total length of career as a dietitian (p<0.01), school type (p<0.001), and employment status (p<0.05). The mean deep acting and turnover intention scores were significantly different according to age (p<0.001), total length of career as a dietitian (p<0.001), school type (p<0.001), employment status (p<0.001), and no. of meals served (p<0.001). The mean customer orientation score was significantly different according to age (p<0.05), employment status (p<0.01), and number of work hour (p<0.05). There was a positive correlation (p<0.01) between turnover intention and surface acting and continuance commitment, but a negative correlation (p<0.01) with deep acting and affective commitment. Also, there was a positive correlation (p<0.01) between customer orientation and deep acting, affective commitment, but a negative correlation (p<0.01) with surface acting. Affective commitment had a negative influence on turnover intention (${\beta}=-0.444$, p<0.001), but surface acting had a positive influence on turnover intention (${\beta}=0.110$, p<0.05). Conclusion: These results suggest that management of affective commitment is essential for decreasing turnover intention. Therefore, emotional labor and organizational commitment of school foodservice dietitians should be managed from the school foodservice organizational viewpoint of The Ministry of Education.
While most of studies have paid attention to the initial adoption of a specific application, research on applications has not focused on an individual's update decision process. This study draws upon both dual information processing and status quo bias perspectives as a comprehensive theoretical lens to explain why individuals do not update their applications. This study assumes that individuals' inertia could be the main reason for their reluctance to update the applications. Based on a survey of 186 smartphone users, this study demonstrated that both habit as an affective trigger of system 1 thinking and sunk cost as a cognitive trigger of system 2 thinking promoted the two types of inertia (i.e., affective and cognitive based inertia) in individuals, which have a negative effect on their willingness to update their applications. By grounding the research model in a theoretical view, such as dual information processing and status quo bias, this study provides a unique theoretical lens from which to view individuals' behaviors, thereby gaining a better understanding of their decision not to update to the current version of applications. This study also investigates the moderating effect of the types of applications on the relationships between affective/cognitive-based inertia and willingness to update. Results show that both habit and sunk cost decrease the willingness to update because they increase both affective and cognitive-based inertia. This study also found that the effects of affective/cognitive based inertia differed depending on the type of applications.

The purpose of this study was 1) to inquire into characteristics of apparel manufacturers and distributors in China, 2) to classify private Guanxi and organizational relationship type, 3) to find differences in private Guanxi to enterprise type and the class of participations' position, and 4) to also find effects of private Guanxi on organizational relationship. Apparel manufacturers and distributors in China participated in the study. Random sampling method was used to collect the data. Data from 173 questionnaires were used for the statistical analysis. Descriptive analysis, factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, t-test, and regression analysis were conducted. Two factors of private Guanxi were classified(i.e., affective Guanxi, instrumental Guanxi). Three factors of organizational relationship type were identified(i.e., opportunistic relationship, cooperative relationship, vertical relationship). The results indicated that distributors regarded affective Guanxi as important more than manufactures and employees regarded affective Guanxi and instrumental Guanxi as important more than presidents. Distributors regarded cooperative relationship as important more than manufactures. Employees regarded organizational relationship as important more than presidents. Affective Guanxi positively affected on cooperative relationship and vertical relationship but negatively affected on opportunistic relationship. Instrumental Guanxi positively affected on opportunistic relationship and vertical relationship. The result of this study may give valuable information to retail merchandisers and strategists who participated in fashion business in China.
The purposes of this study were to(a) develop theoretical modifications of the extended gate control theory of pain using Fishbein's model and(b) test the efficacy of these modifications. Attitude, social subjective norm, personal subjective norm, habit and state anxiety were operationalized to represent internal stimuli for the cognitive-evaluative and motivational-affective dimensions of the theory. Pain expression was operationalized as sensory and affective responses to pain, and pain endurance. Sixty-two female nurses from 20 to 50 years of age participated. A semantic differential scale measured attitude and motivations to comply; a Likerty-type scale measured personal and social norms and habit. Spielberger's STAI measured state anxiety, Pain was produced using a modified submaximum effort tourniquet technique. Pair expression was measured using ratio scales of sensory intensity and unpleasantness developed by Gracely and his associates. Pain endurance was measured by subtracting time of pain threshold from pain tolerance. The first hypothesis examining whether pain endurance would be more significantly related to the affective response than to the sensory response was net rejected. Four remaining hypotheses, testing the ability of the five variables to predict the sensory and affective responses were not rejected. However, the habit of pain expression and the attitude toward pain expression contributed to the prediction of both sensory and affective responses to pain. The interaction between the cognitive-evaluative and the sensory-discriminative dimensions and the interaction between the cognitive-evaluative and motivational-affective dimensions were partially supported by the data from these two variables. The interaction between the motivational-affective and the sensory-discriminative dimensions was also supported by the relationship of sensory to affective responses. The variables which did not significantly predict pain expression appeared to have potential for prediction. Revision and testing of the tools for better reliability, validity, and clinical usuability are needed. The study contributed to theory building. The identification of variables which pre-dict pain behavior must occur before effective nursing interventions can be developed.
According to previous studies, meta-affect based on the interaction between cognitive and affective elements in mathematics learning activities maintains a close mechanical relationship with the learner's mathematical ability in a similar way to meta-cognition. In this study, in order to grasp these characteristics phenomenologically, small group problem-solving cases of 5th grade elementary mathematically gifted children were analyzed from a meta-affective perspective. As a result, the two types of problem-solving cases of mathematically gifted children were relatively frequent in the types of meta-affect in which cognitive element related to the cognitive characteristics of mathematically gifted children appeared first. Meta-affects were actively acted as the meta-function of evaluation and attitude types. In the case of successful problem-solving, it was largely biased by the meta-function of evaluation type. In the case of unsuccessful problem-solving, it was largely biased by the meta-function of the monitoring type. It could be seen that the cognitive and affective characteristics of mathematically gifted children appear in problem solving activities through meta-affective activities. In particular, it was found that the affective competence of the problem solver acted on problem-solving activities by meta-affect in the form of emotion or attitude. The meta-affecive characteristics of mathematically gifted children and their working principles will provide implications in terms of emotions and attitudes related to mathematics learning.
The present study was made to contribute to thed improvement of the quality of jeans wear advertising, and to the establishment of more effective advertising policy by which the jeans wear advertisements can go well with the unique charateristics of jeans wear. The study analyzed the consumer's attitude and dimention of affective responses toward jeans wear advertisements by type of appeal. The research was implemented through the survery with a representative sample of 344 consumers residing in Seoul. Means, Standard Deviation, ANOVA, Duncan Test, Facor Analysis and Regression were imployed to analyze the data gathered. The results of the study are as follows : (1) There are four dimentions of affective responses toward jeans wear advertisements ; upbeat-activation dimention, erotic-activation dimention, calm-emotional dimention, negative emotional demention. (2) According to consumer's sex, there are significant differences in each dimention of their affective responses. Toward sex-appeal advertisements, men show high degree of affective responses in upbeat-activation dimen-sion and calm-emotional dimension. (3) There is a probability that non-sex-appeal advertisement covers wider range of consumer than sex-appeal advertisements. (4) There is no significant different in affective responses towards both sex-appeal and non-sex-appeal advertisement of jeans wear between and among sex·age and involvement level of consumer. (5) Men prefer sex-appeal advertisement to non-sex-appeal advertisement, while there is no significant differences between the attitude of female consumers toward sex-appeal adver-tisement and non-sex-appeal advertisement. (6) In particular, age of 15∼18 and 30∼35 group of female consumer show very positive attitude toward sex-appeal advertisement. Therefore, there is a need to segment female jeans wear market by age groups. (7) According to the age and the involvement level of consumers, there is a significant differences in their attitudes toward advertise-ment. In case of male consumers, group of low level involvement prefer sex-appeal advertise-ment to non-sex-appeal advertisement. While high level involvement group did not show any significant differences between the attitude toward sex-appeal advertisement and the attitude toward non-sex-appeal advertisement. And the age of 15∼24, low level involvement group of female consumers also more positive attitude toward sex-appeal advertisement than toward non-sex-appeal advertisements.
The purpose of this study is to compare the attitudes toward money and credit between housewives and female cortege students. Female college students were younger and economically dependent. Female college students(n=131) and housewives(n=96) were surveyed for the study. Results of the study were: 1) Housewives perceive money as a security, Female students did money as the emotional tool and the success. 2) Housewives tended to be more negative to use credit generally and more positive under the certain condition compared with female students. 3) Affective style of money attitudes among female students and cognitive style among housewives were more popular 4) Negative type of credit altitudes were more popular among both groups. 5) Negative type of credit attitudes were more poplar in cognitive style of money altitudes and tolerated type were more popular in affective style.
The purpose of this study is to synthesize a comprehensive and general conclusion about the effects of mathematics classes using peer tutoring on the cognitive (mathematics learning achievement) and affective domains. For this purpose, a total of 61 individual studies were meta-analyzed in this study to calculate the effect size, measuring the strength of the relationship between mathematics classes using peer tutoring and either the cognitive or affective domain. As a result of this study, it was confirmed that mathematics classes using peer tutoring generally have a medium effect size in both cognitive and affective domains. Also, it was found that level of school, type of student, learning location, class time, tutor education or prior training are significant variables that affect the impact of mathematics classes using peer tutoring on the cognitive and affective domains. These results suggest specific ideas on how to design and operate peer tutoring in school mathematics classes on the basis of different variables.
