The present research investigates how micromechanical models affect the behavior of Functionally Graded (FG) plates under different boundary conditions. The study employs diverse micromechanical models to assess the effective material properties of a two-phase particle composite featuring a volume fraction of particles that continuously varies throughout the thickness of the plate. Specifically, the research examines the vibrational response of the plate on a Winkler-Pasternak elastic foundation, considering different boundary conditions. To achieve this, the governing differential equations and boundary conditions are derived using Hamilton's principle, which is based on a four-variable shear deformation refined plate theory. Additionally, the Galerkin method is utilized to compute the plate's natural frequencies. The study explores how the plate's natural frequencies are influenced by various micromechanical models, such as Voigt, Reuss, Hashin-Shtrikman bounds, and Tamura, as well as factors such as boundary conditions, elastic foundation parameters, length-to-thickness ratio, and aspect ratio. The research results can provide valuable insights for future analyses of FG plates with different boundaries, utilizing different micromechanical models.

The Stable diffsuion AI tool is popular among designers because of its flexible and powerful image generation capabilities. However, due to the diversity of its AI models, it needs to spend a lot of time testing different AI models in the face of different design plans, so choosing a suitable general AI model has become a big problem at present. In this paper, by comparing the AI images generated by two different Stable diffsuion models, the advantages and disadvantages of each model are analyzed from the aspects of the matching degree of the AI image and the prompt, the color composition and light composition of the image, and the general AI model that the generated AI image has an aesthetic sense is analyzed, and the designer does not need to take cumbersome steps. A satisfactory AI image can be obtained. The results show that Playground V2.5 model can be used as a general AI model, which has both aesthetic and design sense in various style design requirements. As a result, content designers can focus more on creative content development, and expect more groundbreaking technologies to merge generative AI with content design.

We provide a detailed analysis of the data processing and model training process for vulnerability classification using Transformer-based language models, especially sentence text-to-text transformers (ST5)-XXL and XLNet. The main purpose of this study is to compare the performance of the two models, identify the strengths and weaknesses of each, and determine the optimal learning rate to increase the efficiency and stability of model training. We performed data preprocessing, constructed and trained models, and evaluated performance based on data sets with various characteristics. We confirmed that the XLNet model showed excellent performance at learning rates of 1e-05 and 1e-04 and had a significantly lower loss value than the ST5-XXL model. This indicates that XLNet is more efficient for learning. Additionally, we confirmed in our study that learning rate has a significant impact on model performance. The results of the study highlight the usefulness of ST5-XXL and XLNet models in the task of classifying security vulnerabilities and highlight the importance of setting an appropriate learning rate. Future research should include more comprehensive analyzes using diverse data sets and additional models.
We construct several Milky Way-like galaxy models containing a gas halo (as well as gaseous and stellar disks, a dark matter halo, and a stellar bulge) following either an isothermal or an NFW density profile with varying mass and initial spin. In addition, galactic winds associated with star formation are tested in some of the simulations. We evolve these isolated galaxy models using the GADGET-3 N-body/hydrodynamic simulation code, paying particular attention to the effects of the gaseous halo on the evolution. We find that the evolution of the models is strongly affected by the adopted gas halo component, particularly in the gas dissipation and the star formation activity in the disk. The model without a gas halo shows an increasing star formation rate (SFR) at the beginning of the simulation for some hundreds of millions of years and then a continuously decreasing rate to the end of the run at 3 Gyr. Whereas the SFRs in the models with a gas halo, depending on the density profile and the total mass of the gas halo, emerge to be either relatively flat throughout the simulations or increasing until the middle of the run (over a gigayear) and then decreasing to the end. The models with the more centrally concentrated NFW gas halo show overall higher SFRs than those with the isothermal gas halo of the equal mass. The gas accretion from the halo onto the disk also occurs more in the models with the NFW gas halo, however, this is shown to take place mostly in the inner part of the disk and not to contribute significantly to the star formation unless the gas halo has very high density at the central part. The rotation of a gas halo is found to make SFR lower in the model. The SFRs in the runs including galactic winds are found to be lower than those in the same runs but without winds. We conclude that the effects of a hot gaseous halo on the evolution of galaxies are generally too significant to be simply ignored. We also expect that more hydrodynamical processes in galaxies could be understood through numerical simulations employing both gas disk and gas halo components.
Purpose: While several prognostic models for the stratification of death risk have been developed for patients with advanced gastric cancer receiving first-line chemotherapy, they have seldom been tested in the Chinese population. This study investigated the performance of these models and identified the optimal tools for Chinese patients. Materials and Methods: Patients diagnosed with metastatic or recurrent gastric adenocarcinoma who received first-line chemotherapy were eligible for inclusion in the validation cohort. Their clinical data and survival outcomes were retrieved and documented. Time-dependent receiver operating characteristic (ROC) and calibration curves were used to evaluate the predictive ability of the models. Kaplan-Meier curves were plotted for patients in different risk groups divided by 7 published stratification tools. Log-rank tests with pairwise comparisons were used to compare survival differences. Results: The analysis included a total of 346 patients with metastatic or recurrent disease. The median overall survival time was 11.9 months. The patients were different into different risk groups according to the prognostic stratification models, which showed variability in distinguishing mortality risk in these patients. The model proposed by Kim et al. showed relative higher predicting abilities compared to the other models, with the highest χ2 (25.8) value in log-rank tests across subgroups, and areas under the curve values at 6, 12, and 24 months of 0.65 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.59-0.72), 0.60 (0.54-0.65), and 0.63 (0.56-0.69), respectively. Conclusions: Among existing prognostic tools, the models constructed by Kim et al., which incorporated performance status score, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, alkaline phosphatase, albumin, and tumor differentiation, were more effective in stratifying Chinese patients with gastric cancer receiving first-line chemotherapy.
Advanced material models for concrete are not widely available in general purpose finite element codes. Parameters to define them complicate the implementation because they are case sensitive. In addition to this, their validity under severe shear condition has not been verified. In this article, simple engineering plasticity material models available in a commercial finite element code are used to demonstrate that complicated shear behavior can be calculated with reasonable accuracy. For this purpose dynamic response of a squat shear wall that had been tested on a shaking table as part of an experimental program conducted in Japan is analyzed. Both the finite element and material aspects of the modeling are examined. A corrective artifice for general engineering plasticity models to account for shear effects in concrete is developed. The results of modifications in modeling the concrete in compression are evaluated and compared with experimental response quantities.
The aim of this study is to assess the structural performance of deteriorated reinforced concrete bridge piers, and to provide method for developing improved evaluation method. For a deteriorated bridge piers, once the cover spalls off and bond between the reinforcement and concrete has been lost, compressed reinforcements are likely to buckle. By using a sophisticated nonlinear finite element analysis program, the accuracy and objectivity of the assessment process can be enhanced. A computer program, RCAHEST (Reinforced Concrete Analysis in Higher Evaluation System Technology), is used to analyze reinforced concrete structures. Material nonlinearity is taken into account by comprising tensile, compressive and shear models of cracked concrete and a model of reinforcing steel. Advanced deteriorated material models are developed to predict behaviors of deteriorated reinforced concrete. The proposed numerical method for the structural performance assessment of deteriorated reinforced concrete bridge piers is verified by comparing it with reliable experimental results. Additionally, the studies and discussions presented in this investigation provide an insight into the key behavioral aspects of deteriorated reinforced concrete bridge piers.
The present study has tested semi-empirical loss models for a reliable performance prediction of mixed-flow pumps with four different specific speeds. In order to improve the predictive capabilities, this paper recommends a new internal loss model and a modified parasitic loss model. The prediction method presented here is also compared with that based on two-dimensional cascade theory. Predicted performance curves by the proposed set of loss models agree fairly well with experimental data for a variety of mixed-flow pumps in the normal operating range, but further studies considering 'droop-like' head performance characteristic due to flow reversal in mixed-flow impellers at low flow range near shut-off head are needed.

A reconfigurable lighting engine for widely used lighting models is proposed for low-power GPU shaders. Conventionally, lighting operations that involve many complex arithmetic operations were calculated by the shader programs on the GPU, which led to a significant energy overhead. In this letter, we propose a lighting engine to improve the energy-efficiency by supporting the widely used advanced lighting models in hardware. It supports the Blinn-Phong, Oren-Nayar, and Cook-Torrance models, by exploiting the logarithmic arithmetic and optimizing the trigonometric function evaluations for the energy-efficiency. Experimental results demonstrate 12.7%, 42.5%, and 35.5% reductions in terms of power-delay product from the shader program implementations for each lighting model. Moreover, our work shows 10.1% higher energy-efficiency for the Blinn-Phong model compared to the prior art.
A vehicle cruise control algorithm using an Interacting Multiple Model (IMM)-based Multi-Target Tracking (MTT) method has been presented in this paper. The vehicle cruise control algorithm consists of three parts; track estimator using IMM-Probabilistic Data Association Filter (PDAF), a primary target vehicle determination algorithm and a single-target adaptive cruise control algorithm. Three motion models; uniform motion, lane-change motion and acceleration motion, have been adopted to distinguish large lateral motions from longitudinal motions. The models have been validated using simulated and experimental data. The improvement in the state estimation performance when using three models is verified in target tracking simulations. The performance and safety benefits of a multi-model-based MTT-ACC system is investigated via simulations using real driving radar sensor data. These simulations show system response that is more realistic and reflective of actual human driving behavior.
