SSI를 이용한 건물과 인접지하구조물의 내진 안정성에 대한 기초 수치해석 연구 (A preliminary numerical analysis study on the seismic stability of a building and underground structure by using SSI)

  • 현재까지 대부분의 내진해석 연구는 지상과 지하구조물을 개별적으로 분석하는 데 제한되어왔기 때문에 그 상호거동이 효과적으로 분석되지 못했다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기반암과 표층으로 이루어진 지반에 건물과 인접지하구조물이 설치되는 복합지하시설물을 대상으로 지반과 구조물을 동시에 고려한 동적해석(SSI)을 수행하였다. 내진안정성이 층간변위비와 구조부재의 휨응력에 근거하여 분석되었다. 그 결과, 초고층건물이 저층건물보다 인접지하구조물의 영향을 더 많이 받지만, 지상구조물은 내진안정성이 양호한 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 건물의 지하부와 인접지하구조물에서 발생한 휨인장응력이 허용값을 초과하여 지상부보다는 지하구조물이 더 취약할 수 있다고 나타났다. 따라서 대도시에서의 건물은 주변에 다양한 구조물이 존재하기 때문에 내진해석 시 지상 및 지하구조물을 동시에 고려해야 상호거동을 정확히 예측할 수 있다고 판단된다.

Responses of high-rise building resting on piled raft to adjacent tunnel at different depths relative to piles

  • In this study, 3D coupled-consolidation numerical parametric study was conducted to predict the deformation mechanism of a 20 storey building sitting on (4×4) piled raft (with length of piles, Lp=30 m) to adjacent 6 m diameter (D) tunnelling in stiff clay. The influences of different tunnel locations relative to piles (i.e., zt/Lp) were investigated in this parametric study. In first case, the tunnel was excavated near the pile shafts with depth of tunnel axis (zt) of 9 m (i.e., zt/Lp). In second and third cases, tunnels were driven at zt of 30 m and 42 m (i.e., zt/Lp = 1.0 and 1.4), respectively. An advanced hypoplastic clay model (which is capable of taking small-strain stiffness in account) was adopted to capture soil behaviour. The computed results revealed that tunnelling activity adjacent to a building resting on piled raft caused significant settlement, differential settlement, lateral deflection, angular distortion in the building. In addition, substantial bending moment, shear forces and changes in axial load distribution along pile length were induced. The findings from the parametric study revealed that the building and pile responses significantly influenced by tunnel location relative to pile.

도시복개하천의 복원사업 이후 인접 주거지의 물리적 특성 변화 (The Changes of Adjacent Residential Area after the Restoration of Covered Urban Streams)

  • This study aims to analyze the changes of adjacent residential area after the restoration of covered urban streams in seoul. The changes of adjacent residential area after restoration were analyzed by changes of land using, urban structure, individual lot of land and architecture to investigate relationship of the urban stream and residential change. The result as follows: the first one is the change of land use and urban structure in adjacent residential area. This change of infrastructure through stream restoration has transformed land use and urban structure in adjacent residential area. Secondly, there is the changes of the individual lot of land. It seemed that new development by combined lots would be concentrated in stream-side blocks. But, the changes of lots such as combining or dividing lots tend to be concentrated in stream-side, main road and main streets. In stream-side, commercial function of land use has changed to residential one which has restored streams landscape by transformation of lots use without changes of ownership-lots. Finally, there is the change of architecture. It turned out new building in adjacent residential area is similar to general development. However, new building in streamside is related to direction of stream. In addition, remodeling and expansion tend to change in commercial buildings on stream-side bridges of corner lots intensively. As a result, it is related to expectation of architectural activation and improvement of sidewalk environment by stream restoration.

Expected extreme value of pounding force between two adjacent buildings

  • Seismic pounding between adjacent buildings with inadequate separation and different dynamic characteristics can cause severe damage to the colliding buildings. Efficient estimation of the maximum pounding force is required to control the extent of damage in adjacent structures or develop an appropriate mitigation method. In this paper, an analytical approach on the basis of statistical relations is presented for approximate computation of extreme value of pounding force between two adjacent structures with equal or unequal heights subjected to stationary and non-stationary excitations. The nonlinearity of adjacent structures is considered using Bouc-Wen model of hysteresis and the pounding effect is simulated by applying the nonlinear viscoelastic model. It is shown that the proposed approach can significantly save computational costs by obviating the need for performing dynamic analysis. To assess the reliability and accuracy of the proposed approach, the results are compared with those obtained from nonlinear dynamic analysis.

Seismic analysis of 3-D two adjacent buildings connected by viscous dampers with effect of underneath different soil kinds

  • 3D two adjacent buildings with different heights founded in different kinds of soil connected with viscous dampers groups, with especial arrangement in plane, were investigated. Soil structure interaction for three different kinds of soil (stiff, medium and soft) were modeled as 3D Winkler model to give the realistic behavior of adjacent buildings connected with viscous dampers under various earthquake excitations taking in the account the effect of different kinds of soil beneath the buildings, using SAP2000n to model the whole system. A range of soil properties and soil damping characteristics are chosen which gives broad picture of connected structures system behavior resulted from the influence soil-structure interaction. Its conclusion that the response of connected structures system founded on soft soil are more critical than those founded on stiff soil. The behavior of connected structures is different from those with fixed base bigger by nearly 20%, and the efficiency of viscous dampers connecting the two adjacent buildings is reduced by nearly 25% less than those founded on stiff soil.

Seismic response of adjacent buildings interconnected by viscous dampers considering soil-structure interaction

  • The effectiveness of fluid viscous dampers (FVDs) on dynamic response mitigation of coupled two adjacent structures was investigated, considering soil-structure interaction (SSI) effects under earthquake excitation. A numerical procedure was employed to evaluate system response. The finite elements were used for the numerical treatment of the adjacent buildings and soil region. Viscous boundary conditions were used as special non-reflecting boundaries on the edges of finite soil region. According to the results, the FVDs were found to be very effective for dynamic response mitigation of the adjacent buildings, even if considering the soil medium. The results showed that the most affecting parameter on the system response was found to be soil type. It was also concluded that when adjacent structures coupled by FVDs, the maximum values of the roof displacements, the base shear forces, and the base bending moments could decrease up to around 50%. Changing in lateral stiffness of the one building has minor effects on the effectiveness of viscous dampers.

Computational evaluation of wind loads on a standard tall building using LES

  • In this paper, wind induced aerodynamic loads on a standard tall building have been evaluated through large-eddy simulation (LES) technique. The flow parameters of an open terrain were recorded from the downstream of an empty boundary layer wind tunnel (BLWT) and used to prescribe the transient inlet boundary of the LES simulations. Three different numerically generated inflow boundary conditions have been investigated to assess their suitability for LES. A high frequency pressure integration (HFPI) approach has been employed to obtain the wind load. A total of 280 pressure monitoring points have been systematically distributed on the surfaces of the LES model building. Similar BLWT experiments were also done to validate the numerical results. In addition, the effects of adjacent buildings were studied. Among the three wind field generation methods (synthetic, Simirnov's, and Lund's recycling method), LES with perturbation from the synthetic random flow approach showed better agreement with the BLWT data. In general, LES predicted peak wind loads comparable with the BLWT data, with a maximum difference of 15% and an average difference of 5%, for an isolated building case and however higher estimation errors were observed for cases where adjacent buildings were placed in the vicinity of the study building.

터널굴착에 타른 인접건물의 거동평가에 대한 모형실험연구 (Model tests for the behavior assessment of adjacent buildings in urban tunnelling)

  • 본 연구는 터널굴착 공사에 의한 지반거동을 평가하여, 구조물의 형상, 위치, 굴착공정 변화등의 다양한 조건과 지반/구조물의 상호작용이 고려된 모형실험을 기본으로 수행하였다. 굴착진행 단계에 따른 구조물의 손상 거동 평가시 인접 구조물이 밀집된 도심지 굴착에서는 보다 안전하고 보수적인 평가가 나타나는 각변위와 수평변형율에 의한 손상도표를 활용하는 것이 보다 안전할 것으로 판단된다. 모형실험시 구조물에 발생된 균열의 손상수준을 손상도표에서 평가해 본 결과, 균열손상 수준이 적용된 평가가 각변위와 수평변형율만 적용된 손상수준보다 안전측으로 평가되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러므로, 각변위와 수평변형율 뿐만 아니라 균열이 고려된 손상평가를 수행하는 것이 보다 바람직할 것으로 판단된다.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate tendencies on land use in the housing site development district by grasping the characteristics of changes of building use at the borders of single-detached housing area for planning single-detached housing area in the future. It is divided the borders of detached housing areas into three types, educational facility, parks and green spaces, and apartment complex, and then analyzed the characteristics of each location after a field study. It is summarized as follows. First, there were stationery and flour-based meal stores in adjacent borders near educational facilities, suitable for students' interest and motion patterns, and it is required to consider about frequent children's action in the street. Second, there are many facilities for park users and residents, such as educational institutes and restaurants in adjacent to borders near parks. In borders neighboring buffer green belt areas, warehouses and vacant sites were mainly distributed. And the revitalization of streets was lower than others, because a road was used as a parking space. Third, there were realty dealers, food stores, and laundries which provide the dwellers with service in adjacent borders near multi-family housing.

스마트 연결 제어 시스템과 연결 구조물의 통합 최적 설계 (Integrated Optimal Design of Smart Connective Control System and Connected Buildings)

  • A smart connective control system was invented recently for coupling control of adjacent buildings. Previous studies on this topic focused on development of control algorithm for the smart connective control system and design method of control device. Usually, a smart control devices are applied to building structures after structural design. However, because structural characteristics of building structure with control devices changes, a iterative design is required for optimal design. To defeat this problem, an integrated optimal design method for a smart connective control system and connected buildings was proposed. For this purpose, an artificial seismic load was generated for control performance evaluation of the smart coupling control system. 20-story and 12-story adjacent buildings were used as example structures and an MR (magnetorheological) damper was used as a smart control device to connect adjacent two buildings. NSGA-II was used for multi-objective integrated optimization of structure-smart control device. Numerical simulation results show the integrated optimal design method proposed in this study can provide various optimal designs for smart connective control system and connected buildings presenting good control performance.
