다이아몬드 피복공구에 의한 SiC 강화 복합재료의 절삭특성 (Machining Characteristics of SiC reinforced Composite by multiple diamond-coated drills)

  • Compared to sintered polycrystalline diamond (PCD), the deposited thin film diamond has a great advantage on the fabrication of cutting tools with complex geometries such as drills. Because of high performance in high speed machining non-ferrous difficult-to-cut materials in the field of automobiles industry, aeronautics and astronautics industry, diamond-coated drills find large potentialities in commercial applications. However, the poor adhesion of the diamond film on the substrate and high surface roughness of the drill flute adversely affect the tool lift and machining quality and they become the main technical barriers for the successful development and commercialization of diamond-coated drills. In this paper, diamond thin films were deposited on the commercial WC-Co based drills by the electron aided hot filament chemical vapor deposition (EACVD). A new multiple coating technology based on changing gas pressure in different process stages was developed. The large triangular faceted diamond grains may have great contribution to the adhesive strength between the film and the substrate, and the overlapping ball like blocks consisted of nanometer sized diamond crystals may contribute much to the very low roughness of diamond film. Adhesive strength and quality of diamond film were evaluated by scanning electron microscope (SEM), atomic force microscope (AFM), Raman spectrum and drilling experiments. The ring-block tribological experiments were also conducted and the results revealed that the friction coefficient increased with the surface roughness of the diamond film. From a practical viewpoint, the cutting performances of diamond-coated drills were studied by drilling the SiC particles reinforced aluminum-matrix composite. The good adhesive strength and low surface roughness of flute were proved to be beneficial to the good chip evacuation and the decrease of thrust and consequently led to a prolonged tool lift and an improved machining quality. The wear mechanism of diamond-coated drills is the abrasive mechanical attrition.

나노필러가 함유된 표면보호재가 글라스 아이오노머 시멘트의 미세경도와 마모저항성에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Nano-filled Protective Coating on Microhardness and Wear Resistance of Glass-ionomer Cements)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 글라스 아이오노머 시멘트의 표면 보호가 미세경도와 마모저항성에 미치는 효과를 알아보고자 하는 것이다. 글라스 아이오노머와 레진강화형 글라스 아이오노머를 사용하려 각각 60개의 시편을 제작하였다. 각 시편을 표면 보호를 시행하지 않은 경우, 나노필러가 함유된 표면 보호재, 필러가 함유되어 있지 않은 표면 보호재에 따라 20개씩 나누었다. $37^{\circ}C$ 증류수에 24시간 보관한 후 각 군당 10개의 시편은 비커스 미세경도를 측정하였고, 10개의 시편은 마모 시험을 시행한 후 마모된 깊이를 측정하였다. 표면보호를 시행한 군들보다 표면 보호를 시행하지 않은 군들이 높은 표면경도를 보였다. 글라스아이오노머와 레진강화형 글라스아이오노머 모두에서 표면 보호를 시행한 경우에 마모저항성이 더 증가하였지만 유의한 차이는 아니었다. 나노필러의 유무는 마모도에 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하였다.

중간층 조건에 따른 Cr-Mo-N 막의 상형성 및 마찰마모 거동 연구 (Tribology and Phase Evolution of Cr-Mo-N Coatings with Different Interlayer Condition)

  • Phase evolution and tribological behavior of Cr-Mo-N multi compositional films with different interlayer were investigated. The films were deposited by hybrid PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) system consisted of dc unbalanced magnetron (UBM) sputtering and arc ion plating (AIP) sources. A pure molybdenum (Mo) was used as sputtering target and also a pure Cr was used as AIP target to form the Cr-Mo-N films. Various growth planes were found, no textured surface, in all of the multi composition films. Maximum value of microhardness was measured in Cr-Mo-N film with Mo interlayer as 29 GPa. Composition film was mainly showed the aspect of the adhesive wear than CrN film. The friction coefficient was decreased from 0.6 for pure CrN coating to 0.35 for Cr-Mo-N film with Mo interlayer. This result may come from the formation of metal oxide tribo-layer which is known as solid lubricant during the wear test.

  • Fe 계 합금의 적층결함에너지를 감소시키는 거승로 알려진 vanadium이 Fe-20Cr-1.7C-1Si합금의 미세조직과 고온 마모저항성에 미치는 영향에 대하여 조사하였다. Fe-20Cr-1.7C-1Si-xV (x=0, 1, 3, 6, 10wt.%)조성에서 오스테나이트 기지상을 유지하면서 첨기될 수 있는 V의 최대 첨가량은 약 3wt.%이었으며 오스테나이트 기지상을 갖는 합금은 상온에서 낮은 적층결함에너지와 $\gamma->\alpha$ 변형유기 상변태에 의해 페라이트 합금보다 높은 마모저항성을 보인 것으로 생각된다.$225^{\circ}C$에서 $\alpha$ 생성량도 많은 것으로 보다 V은 Fe-20Cr-1.7C-1Si 합금의 온도에 따른 적층결함에너지 증가율를 억제하고 Md온도도 증가시킴으로써 고온 마모저항성을 증가시키는 것으로 생각된다.

Squeeze Casting에 의한 Al-SiCp 복합재료의 제조 조건에 관한 연구 (A Study on Fabrication Conditions of Al-SiCp Composites by Squeeze Casting)

  • Al-2%Si-2%Mg alloy containing SiC particle in 20, $70{\mu}m$ were prepared by mean of squeeze casting with various pressure 50, 100, 150 and 220MPa respectively. The specimens were made by casting into $50{\Phi}{\times}100{\ell}$ mold under various squeeze conditions(pressures, pressurizing temperature, particle sizes). Mechanical properties(hardness, tensile strength, elongation and wear characteristics) were evaluated at room temperature with those various fabrication factors. It became feasible to make favorable Al-SiCp composite free from casting defects by the injection of Ar gas during melting and 100MPa pressure squeeze casting. However, pressure of 50MPa was not sufficient to avoid completely porosity formation as a result of precessing and shrinkage during solidification. As the particle size is smaller and the squeeze pressure is higher, the hardness and tensile strength at room temperature are higher. Cell size became smaller gradually with increase of squeeze pressure. With increase of squeeze pressure(MPa), wear behaviors of those composites were changed from adhesive into abrasive wear, and the tendency of above behavior became outstanding with increasing sliding speed. The chemical reaction(4Al+3SiC${\rightarrow}$$Al_4C_3+3Si$) is more accelerated at interface between SiCp and matrix with increase of squeeze pressure. Therefore $Al_4C_3$ intercompound and Si peak intensity is increased at interface.

Ti-Al-Si-N 코팅막의 마모거동에 미치는 Si 함량의 영향 (The Effect of Si Content on the Tribological Behaviors of Ti-Al-Si-N Coating Layers)

  • 아크 이온 플레이팅과 스퍼터로 구성된 하이브리드 시스템을 이용하여 다성분계 Ti-Al-Si-N 코팅막을 WC-Co 기판에 증착하였다. 증착시 Si 함량을 변화시켜 코팅막의 마모특성에 Si 함량이 미치는 영향에 대하여 조사하였다. 마모 특성을 관찰하기 위하여 Ti-Al-Si-N 코팅막이 증착된 WC-Co 원판에 3N의 하중, 0.1 m/s의 속도로 볼 온 디스크(ball-on-disk) 형태의 마모시험기를 이용하여 건식 마모 실험을 하였다. 상대재로는 스틸볼과 지르코니아볼을 사용하였다. 상대재가 스틸볼의 경우 Ti-Al-Si-N 코팅막의 마찰계수가 Ti-Al-N 코팅막의 마찰계수보다 낮게 나타났다 이는 Si가 첨가되어 마모시 상대재와 코팅막 사이에 자기윤활효과(self-lubricant effect)에 의한 것으로 여겨진다. 코팅막과 스틸볼 사이에 응착 마모 거동을 보였으며, Si의 함량이 증가함에 따라 마찰계수는 감소하였다. 한편, 상대재가 지르코니아 볼의 경우 코팅막과 지르코니아 볼 사이에서 연삭마모 거동이 더 지배적이었고, Si 함량이 증가할수록 마찰계수는 증가하였다.

  • Hydraulic pumps are used to control the landing wheels of aircrafts, and their proper operation is vital to plane safety It is well hewn that adhesive wear failure is a major cause of pump failure. A dual nitrogen plasma immersion ion implantation process calling for the implantation of nitrogen at two different energies and doses has been developed to enhance the surface properties of the disks in the pumps. The procedures meet the strict temperature requirement of <200$^{\circ}C$, and after the treatment, the working lifetime of the pumps increases by more than a factor of two. This experimental protocol has been adopted by the hydraulic pump factory as a standard manufacturing procedure.

Friction transition diagram considering the effects of oxide layer formed on contact parts of TiN coated steel ball

  • In this study. the friction transition diagram based on the effect of oxide layer formation on contact surface between TiN coated steel ball and uncoated steel disk was constructed. From the diagram. it can be seen that as the contact load increases. the contact number of cycle at the beginning of oxide layer formation decreases linearly and as the coating thickness increases and the surface roughness of steel disk increases under same contact load. that increases. For the coated ball specimen, a AISI 52100 steel ball was used and AISI 1045 steel was used for the disk counter part.

  • Method of plasma-immersion ion deposition of hydrogenated DLC films on relatively thick flat dielectric substrates from plasma of not-self-sustained low-pressure gas arc discharge is suggested. Coating properties have been investigated experimentally, average energy Per a deposited carbon atom depending on discharge current has been calculated. Optimum deposition parameters lot obtaining sufficiently hard and transparent high-adhesive a-C:H films on a 4-mm thick glass substrates have been determined. Possibility to use these coatings for photo-tools protection from abrasion wear at low operating loads is shown in general.

티타니아 세라믹 熔射皮膜의 機械的 特性에 미치는 熔射條件의 影響에 관한 硏究 (Effects of Spraying Conditions on the Mechanical Properties of Titania Ceramic Coating Layer)

  • The purpose of this investigation is to examine the effects of spraying conditions on the mechanical properties of flame-sprayed titania ceramic coating layer. Titania ceramic was sprayed onto the mild steel substrate under the various spraying conditions. Spraying distances were 100, 150, 200, 250mm respectively and pinch air pressures were 0.2 0.3, 0.4 MPa at each spraying distance. The mechanical properties such as microhardness, adhesive strength and erosion wear resistance were tested for the specimens sprayed under the various spraying conditions above mentioned. The optimum operational conditions obtained through the experimental results were 150mm of spraying distance and 0.3 MPa of pinch air pressure.
