The study of bond behavior between concrete and rebar has been performed for a long time. On this study, we tried to analysed variation of bond behaviors quantitatively with varying the strength of concrete. Bond stress which observed below the neutral surface of beam and at connecting part of beam and column is affected by various bond parameters. Resistance of deformed bars which embedded in concrete to the pullout force is divided 1) chemical adhesive force 2) frictional force 3) mechanical resistance of ribs to the concrete and these horizontal components of resistance is being bond strength. We selected the most common and typical variable which is concrete strength among various variables. So we used two kinds of concrete strength like as 25MPa(NSC) and 65MPa(HSC). Tension Test was performed to verify how bond behavior varied with two kinds of concrete strength. Concentration of bond stress was observed at load-end commonly in Tension Test of the initial load stage. At this stage stress distribution was almost coincident at each strength. As tension load added, this stress distribution had difference gradually and movement of pick point of bond stress to free-end and central section was observed. This tendency was observed at first and moving speed was more fast in NSC. At the preceeding result the reason of this phenomenon is considered to discretion of chemical adhesion and local failure of concrete around rebar in load-end direction. Especially, when concrete strength was increased 2.6 times in tension test, ultimate bond strength was increased 1.45 times. In most recent used building codes, bond strength is proportioned to sqare root of concrete compressive strength but comparison of normalized ultimate bond strength was considered that the higher concrete strength is, the lower safety factor of bond strength is in each strength if we use existing building codes. In Tension Test, in case of initial tensile force state, steel tensile stress of central cross section is not different greatly at each strength but tensile force increasing, that of central cross section in NSC was increased remarkably. Namely, tensile force which was shared in concrete in HSC was far greater than that of concrete in NSC at central section.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the wear properties of Saffil/Al, Saffil/A12O3/Al and Saffil/SiC/Al hybrid metal matrix composites fabricated by squeeze casting method. Wear tests were done on a pin-on-disk friction and wear tester under both dry and lubricated conditions. The wear properties of the three composites were evaluated in many respects. The effects of Saffil fibers, $\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_3$ particles and SiC particles on the wear behavior of the composites were investigated. Wear mechanisms were analyzed by observing the worn surfaces of the composites. The variation of coefficient of friction(COF) during the wear process was recorded by using a computer. Under dry sliding condition, Saffil/SiC/Al showed the best wear resistance under high temperature and high load, while the wear resistances of Saffil/Al and Saffi1/$\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_3$/Al were very similar. Under dry sliding condition, the dominant wear mechanism was abrasive wear under mild load and room temperature, and the dominant wear mechanism changed to adhesive wear as load or temperature increased. Molten wear occurred at high temperature. Compared with the dry sliding condition, all three composites showed excellent wear resistance when lubricated by liquid paraffin. Under lubricated condition, Saffil/Al showed the best wear resistance among them, and its COF value was the smallest. The dominant wear mechanism of the composites under lubricated condition was microploughing, but microcracking also occurred to them to different extents.

Recently, numerous construction techniques for repairing and strengthening methods for above ground or air exposed concrete structure have been developed. However repairing and strengthening methods for underwater structural members under continuous loading, such as piers and steel piles need the further development. Therefore, this study develops an aqua epoxy, which can be used for repairing and strengthening of structural members located underwater. Moreover, using the epoxy material and strengthening fibers, a fiber reinforced composite sheet called Aqua Advanced FRP (AAF) for underwater usage is developed. To verify and to obtain properties of the material and the performance of AAF, several tests such as pull-off strength test, bond shear strength test, and chemical resistance test, were carried out. The results showed that the developed aqua epoxy does not easily dissolve in wet conditions and does not create any residual particle during hardening. In spite of underwater conditions, it showed the superior workability, because of the high viscosity over 30,000 cps and adhesion capacity over 2 MPa, which are nearly equivalent to those used in dry conditions. In case of the chemical resistance test, the developed aqua epoxy and composite showed the weight change of about 0.5~1.0%, which verifies the superior chemical resistance.
Statement of the problem. All-ceramic post-and-core restorations offer a number of advantages compared with systems that use metal build-ups. In certain clinical cases, however, fractures at the joint between the post and core build-up have been reported. Purpose. The objective, therefore, is to improve the joint between the post and the core build-up. Material and methods. Three different methods were used to prepare all-ceramic post-and-core restorations; pressing IPS Empress core build-ups to CosmoPost zirconia posts, cement-ing IPS Empress core build-ups to CosmoPost zirconia posts and Celay-milling of zirconia blanks. A series of ten restorations was prepared for each of the three methods. The post-and-core complexes were tested to failure with the load applied perpendicular to the post axis. The load and deflection at fracture were recorded. Results. The highest breaking load and highest deflection were recorded for the cementing technique with values of 25.3 N and $394{\mu}m$, respectively, The corresponding values for the pressed core build-ups and the milled zirconia core build-ups were 22 N and $301{\mu}m$, and 13 N and $160{\mu}m$, respectively. All the differences are statistically significant (p=0.05). Regarding the load-dependence of the deflection, the cemented core build-ups again demonstrated the highest value with $15.5{\mu}m/N$. The difference in the values of $13.6{\mu}m/N\;and\;13{\mu}m/N$ recorded for the pressed-on and milled core build-ups, respectively, were statistically insignificant. Conclusion. In regard to the high fracture resistance of zirconia post, adhesive cementing the core build-up to the post offers a viable alternative to the conventional pressing technique. The elastic bond between the rigid high-strength zirconia post and the core build-up presents an additional advantage.

All-ceramic restorations have had a more limited life expectancy than metal ceramic restorations because of their low strength. Their relatively lower strength and resistance to fracture have restricted the use of all-ceramic crowns to anterior applications where occlusal loads are lower. But there has been increasing interest in all-ceramic restorations because patients are primarily concerned with improved esthetics. Many efforts have been made to in prove the mechanical properties of dental ceramics. This study was designed to elucidate the influence of the luting agent on the strength of the Empress 2 crown (staining technique) cemented on human teeth. Seventy extracted human permanent molar teeth were chosen. Teeth were prepared for Empress 2 crowns with milling machine on a surveyor. A dental bur was placed in the mandrel that was positioned so that the long axis of the bur was perpendicular to the surveyor base. Dimensions of the Empress 2 crown preparation were $6^{\circ}$ taper on each side, $1.5{\pm}0.1mm$ shoulder margin, and 4mm crown height. The luting cements used in this study were as follow: 1. Uncemented 2. Zinc phosphate cements (Confi-Dental) 3. Conventional glass ionomer cement : Fuji 1 (GC) 4. Resin-modified glass ionomer cements : Fuji plus (GC) 5. Adhesive cements : Panavia F (Kuralay), Variolink II (Vivadent), Choice (Bisco). Fracture test using Instron. The crowns were loaded in compressive force to evaluate the effect of these cements on the breaking strength of these all-ceramic crowns. A steel ball with a diameter of 4mm was placed on the occlusal surface and load was applied to the steel ball by a cylindrical bolt with a crosshead speed of 0.5mm per minute until fracture occurred. The fractured surface was examined using Scanning Electron Microscopic Image (SEM) to discover the correlation between fracture strength and bonding capacity. Within the limitation of this in vitro study design, the results were as follows : 1. fomentations significantly increased the fracture resistance of Empress ceramic crowns compared to control. Uncemented (206.9 N): ZPC (812.9 N): Fuji 1 (879.5 N): Fuji Plus (937.7 N): Choice (1105.4 N): Variolink II (1221.1 N): Panavia F (1445.2 N). 2. Resin luting agent, treated by a silane bond enhancing agents, yielded a significant increase in fracture resistance. In some of the Panavia F group, a fracture extended into dentin. 3. According to SEM images of fractured Empress crowns, the stronger the bond at both interfaces(crown and die), the more fracture strength was acquired.
Between 1997 and 1998 in Korea, 56 isolates of Escherichia coli were obtained from pig suffering diarrhea. Among those, 38 isolates that showed the hemolytic activity, antimicrobial resistance, and toxin production were studied. Among 38 isolates, thirty-six isolates $(94.7\%)$ were resistant to tetracycline, 27 isolates $(71.0\%)$ were resistant to ampicillin, 26 isolates $(68.4\%)$ were resistant to chloramphenicol, and 21 isolates $(55.2\%)$ were resistant to trimethoprim, while none was resistant to aztreonam, amikacin, and norfloxacin. Among these isolates, 21 isolates $(55.3\%)$ were multiple drug resistant to at least four different class antimicrobial agents. Extended spectrum $\beta-lactamase$ producing isolates were not detected in the double disk synergy test. In these hemolytic Escherichia coli, heat-stable enterotoxin $(89.5\%)$ was the most prevalent toxin, followed by verotoxins $(47.4\%),$ and then heat-labile enterotoxin $(31.6\%).$ Except 8 isolates $(21.0\%)$ which produced ST only, 12 isolates $(31.6\%)$ produced ST and LT, 13 isolates $(34.2\%)$ produced ST, VT, and VTe, and 5 isolates $(13.2\%)$ produced VT and VTe. However, none produced all 4 types of toxin, simultaneously. The predominant serotype could not be determined by the agglutination method. Sixteen isolates $(42.1\%)$ were strongly adhered to T-24 bladder cell and 17 isolates $(44.7\%)$ were to Caco-2 intestinal cell. Especially, 11 strains $(28.9\%)$ were evaluated as strongly adhesive to both T-24 cells and Caco-2 cells. Genes for toxin and the antimicrobial resistance were transferred to clinical isolates of Escherichia coli from human urine by the filter mating method. Results suggest the possibility that antimicrobial resistance and toxin can be transferred from animals to humans by direct contact of resistant bacteria as well as gene transfer, although there was no correlation between toxin production, adherent activity, and antimicrobial resistance among hemolytic E. coli isolated from pig suffering diarrhea.
As a part of durability improvement of concrete-structure, penetrating water repellency of liquid type is applied to concrete surface. Besides, a related standard is made recently, but the standard has been prescribe for initial settlement state of penetrating water repellency of liquid type, to the exclusion of performance variation depending time and outdoor environment factor. For measurement of performance variation, we measured the weight of outdoor exposure specimen every regular intervals and check a measured value against a measured value of different condition specimen. Moreover, after the application of penetrating water repellent, measured a adhesive strength in tension between cement-polymer modified waterproof coatings and surface of specimen. The applied penetrating water repellent is a emulsified silicon type with a deep penetration depth. In view of the results so far achieved, the more a Quantity of application and active solid content does get, the deeper penetrating water repellency of emulsion type Penetrate get longer and supplied moisture increase in quantity, a penetrating water repellency of liquid type penetrates more deep, but a quantity of water absorption increase gradually. Perhaps this result is caused by a reduction of active solid content on concrete surface, because active ingredient is moved into the concrete by dissolution.
Copper is known as a replacement for aluminum wire which is used for semiconductor. Because specific resistance of Cu ($1.67{\mu}{\Omega}$-cm) is lower than that of Al ($2.66{\mu}{\Omega}$-cm), Cu reduce RC delay time. Although melting point of Cu($1085^{\circ}C$) is higher than melting point of Al, Cu have characteristic to easily react with Silicon(Si) in low temperature, and it isn't good at adhesive strength with Si. For above these reason, research of diffusion barrier to prevent reaction between Cu and Si and to raise adhesive strength is steadily advanced. Our study group have researched on W-C-N (tungsten-carbon-nitrogen) Diffusion barrier for preventing diffusion of Cu through semiconductor. By recent studies, It's reported that W-C-N diffusion barrier can even precent Cu and Si diffusing effectively at high temperature. In this treatise, we vaporized different proportion of N into diffusion barrier to research Cu's Electromigration based on the results and studied surface hardness in the heat process using nano scale indentation system. We gain that diffusion barrier containing nitrogen is more stable for Cu's electromigration and has stronger surface hardness in heat treatment process.
The composition of isocyanates and polyols influence prepolymeric properties of adhesive and calking sealant based on polyurethanes (PU). One component moisture curing prepolymers, which reacted with surface humidity of substrate, were synthesized in several kinds of composition. Reactivity, structural change and properties of the prepolymers were studied as a preliminary step to manufacture PU based adhesive and sealant. To study the effects of mole ratio ([NCO]/[OH]), we used toluene diisocyanate (TDI), 4, 4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), and ether-polyols such as PTMG and PPG which have good resistance to hydrolysis and excellent low-temperature properties. The each prepolymers could be prepared in different molecular weight without any significant structural change. The mole ratio 1.78 of [NCO] to [OH] showed the fastest reactivity. It was confirmed that effect of polyols was larger than that of isocyanates on the prepolymer in reactivity. Several kinds of compounds were manufactured with each prepolymer, and tensile and properties were tested. And the optimum quantity of curing accelerator for the PU was 0.05~0.1%. In the tensile test, TDI based PU was superior to MDI based PU, and also PTMG based PU was superior PPG based PU.
Recently the 2nd generation laboratory composite resins were introduced. Although the mechanical properties of these composite resins have been improved, there were some disadvantages such as discoloration, low abrasion resistance and debonding between metal and resin. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the tensile bond strength between non-pecious dental alloy(verabond) and four veneering reinforced composite resins ; Targis(Ivoclar Co., U.S.A.), Artglass(Kulzer CO., Germany), Sculpture(Jeneric Pentron Co., U.S.A.), and Estonia(Kurary Co., Japan). All test metal specimens were polished with #1,000 SiC paper, and sandblasted with $250{\mu}m$ aluminum oxide. After then. according to manufacturer's instructions metal adhesive primer and veneering resins were applied. All test specimens were divided into two groups. One group was dried in a desiccator at $25^{\circ}C$ for 3 days, the other group was subjected to thermal cycling($2,000{\times}$) in water($5/55^{\circ}C$). Tensile bond strength was measured using Instron Universal Testing machine and the fractured surface was examined under the naked eyes and scanning electron microscope. Within the limitations imposed in this study, the following conclusions can be drawn: 1. In no-thermal cycling groups, there were no significant differences between Estenia and VMK68 but there were significant differences between Targis, Artglass, Sculpture and VMK68(p<0.05). 2. In no-thermal cycling resin groups, the highest tensile bond strength was observed in Estenia and there were significant differences between Estenia and the other resins(p<0.05). 3. Before and after thermal cycling, there were significant differences in tensile bond strength of Targis and Artglass(p<0.05). The tensile bond strength of Artglass was decreased and that of Targis was increased. 4. In no-thermal cycling groups, Artglass showed mixed fracture modes(95%), but after thermal cycling, Artglass showed adhesive fracture modes(75%).
