Although there have been plenty of dominance deviation analysis, few studies have dealt with multiple phenotypes. Because researchers focused on multiple phenotypes (final weight and backfat thickness) of Landrace pigs, the classification of the genes was possible. With genome-wide association studies (GWASs), we analyzed the additive and dominance effects of the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). The classification of the pig genes into four categories (overdominance in final weight, overdominance in backfat thickness and overdominance in final weight, underdominance in backfat thickness, etc.) can enable us not only to analyze each phenotype's dominant effects, but also to illustrate the gene ontology (GO) analysis with different aspects. We aimed to determine the additive and dominant effect in backfat thickness and final weight and performed GO analysis. Using additive model and dominance deviation analysis in GWASs, Landrace pigs' overdominant and underdominant SNP effects in final weight and backfat thickness were surveyed. Then through GO analysis, we investigated the genes that were classified in the GWASs. The major GO terms of the underdominant effects in final weight and overdominant effects in backfat thickness were ion transport with the SLC8A3, KCNJ16, P2RX7 and TRPC3 genes. Interestingly, the major GO terms in the underdominant effects in the final weight and the underdominant effects in the backfat thickness were the regulation of ion transport with the STAC, GCK, TRPC6, UBASH3B, CAMK2D, CACNG4 and SCN4B genes. These results demonstrate that ion transport and ion transport regulation genes have distinct dominant effects. Through GWASs using the mode of linear additive model and dominance deviation, overdominant effects and underdominant effects in backfat thickness was contrary to each other in GO terms (ion transport and ion transport regulation, respectively). Additionally, because ion transport and ion transport regulation genes are associative with adipose tissue accumulation, we could infer that these two groups of genes had to do with unique fat accumulation mechanisms in Landrace pigs.
To solve low cycle efficiency of the zinc anode in Zn-air batteries by corrosion, this study examined the effects of Al as a cathodic protection additive to Zn. The Al-mixed Zn anodes were produced by mixing Zn and Al powder (1, 2, and 3 wt. %). To compare the effects of the Al additive, Si was selected under the same conditions. The morphology and elemental composition of the additives in the Zn were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and inductively coupled plasma - mass spectrometry. The anti-corrosion effects of the Al and Si-mixed Zn anodes were examined by linear polarization. Cyclic voltammetry and charge-discharge tests were conducted to evaluate the electrochemical performance of the Al and Si-mixed Zn anodes. As a result, the Al-mixed Zn anodes showed highest corrosion resistance and cycling performance. Among these, the 2 wt.% Al-mixed Zn anodes exhibited best electrochemical performance.
This paper deals with the clay-bonded silicon carbide refractory saggars in terms of its oxidation resistance. Oxidation is one of the major causes of failure in silicon carbide refractory saggars during its services. Various anti-oxidation additives are coated on or added into silicon carbide refractories and their effects are studied while other conditions are equal. Several conclusions can be derived for optimum anti-oxidation additive as: 1. The additive should wet each silicon carbide grain completely during its firing. 2. The additive should have high viscosity at temperatures around $1, 350^{\circ}C$ where most silicon carbide refractory saggars are being used. 3. The additive should have ability to absorb or desorb oxygen depending on the local atmosphere inside of saggar during it service. 4. The addition should be kept as minimum as possible to prevent any "sweating" or "bloating" phenomena.ing" phenomena.mena.
The objective of this study was to estimate genetic parameters for total number of born (TNB), number of born alive (NBA) and teat numbers (TN) of Landrace and Yorkshire breeds in Korean swine population using multiple trait animal model procedures. Total numbers of 4,653 records for teat numbers and 8,907 records for TNB and NBA collected from 2004 to 2008 on imported breeding pigs and their litter size records were used in this study. To find the appropriate model for estimation of genetic parameters (heritabilities and genetic correlations), five statistical models (two models for reproductive traits, two models for teat numbers, one model for combining these traits) considering only direct additive genetic effects, including maternal effects were used and Akaike information criteria (AIC) of each two models for reproductive traits and teat trait were compared. The means and standard deviations of TNB, NBA, and TN were $11.52{\pm}3.34$, $10.55{\pm}2.96$ and $14.30{\pm}0.83$, respectively. Estimated heritabilities for TNB and NBA traits using the model which considered only additive genetic effect were low (0.06 and 0.05, respectively). However, estimated heritabilities considering maternal genetic effects were a little bit higher than that of the model considering only additive genetic effect (0.09 for TNB and NBA, respectively). Estimated heritability for TN using the model which considered only additive genetic effect was 0.40. However, estimated heritability of direct genetic effects from a model considering maternal genetic effect was high (0.60). All results of AIC statistics, the models considering maternal effect was more appropriate than the models considering only additive genetic effect. Genetic correlations of direct additive genetic effect between litter size (TNB, NBA) and teat numbers were low (-0.18 and -0.14, respectively). However, genetic correlations of maternal effect between litter size (TNB, NBA) and teat numbers were a little bit higher than those of direct additive genetic effect (0.08 and 0.16, respectively).

This research considers the effect of added mesophase pitch (MP) as an additive during the pitch synthesis reaction of pyrolyzed fuel oil (PFO). Two effects are generated by adding MP. One is an enhancement of thermal stability due to the high thermal property of the additive; the other is that the volatile compounds that were removed by vaporization of PFO during the thermal reaction can participate in the pitch synthesis reaction ($PFO{\rightarrow}pitch$) more efficiently. The effect differs according to the amount of the additive. When the amount of the additive is less than 7 wt%, the first effect is dominant, whereas the second effect is dominant when the additive amount exceeds 10 wt%.

In recent years, some attention was particularly given to cracking sensitivity of high performance concrete. It has been argued and demonstrated experimentally that such concrete undergoes autogenous shrinkage due to self-desiccation at early age, and, as a result, internal tensile stress may develop, leading to micro cracking and macro cracking. One possible method to reduce cracking due to autogenous shrinkage is the addition of expansive additive. Tests conducted by many researches have shown the beneficial effects of addition of expansive additive for reducing the risk of shrinkage-introduced cracking. However, the research on hydration model of expansion additive has been hardly researched up to now. This paper presents a study of the hydration model of Ettringite-Gypsum type expansive additive. Result of comparing forecast values with experiment value, proposed model is shown to expressible of hydration of expansive additive.
We identified differentially expressed genes in RAW264.7 cells in response to single and double ligand treatments (LPS, $IFN{\gamma}$, 2MA, LPS plus $IFN{\gamma}$, and LPS plus 2MA). The majority of the regulated transcripts responded additively to dual ligand treatment. However, a significant fraction responded in a non-additive fashion. Several cytokines showing non-additive transcriptional responses to dual ligand treatment also showed non-additive protein production/secretion responses in separately performed experiments. Many of the genes with non-additive responses to LPS plus 2MA showed enhanced responses and encoded pro-inflammatory proteins. LPS plus $IFN{\gamma}$ appeared to induce both non-additive enhancement and non-additive attenuation of gene expression. The affected genes were associated with a variety of biological functions. These experiments reveal both dependent and independent regulatory pathways and point out the specific nature of the regulatory interactions.

Alloy deposits of 80Sn-20Pb, electroplated on Cu-based leadframe alloy from an organic sulfonate bath were aged at $150^{\circ}C$ to form intermetallic phases between substrate and deposit, and effects of the deposit morphology, influenced by deposition conditions, on the fracture resistance of the 80Sn-20Pb deposit aged at $150^{\circ}C$ were examined. The growth rate of intermetallic compound layer on aging depended on the microstructure of deposit ; it was fastest in deposit formed using pulse current in bath without grain refining additive, but slowest in deposit formed using dc current in bath containing grain refining additive in spite of similar structure with equivalent grain size. The grain refining additive incorporated in electrodeposit appears to inhibit diffusion of atoms on aging, resulting in slow growth of intermetallic layer in the thickness direction but substantial growth in the lateral one. Density of surface cracks that were occurring when samples were subjected to the $90^{\circ}$-bending test increased with increasing the thickness of intermatallic layer on aging. For the same aged samples, the surface crack density of the sample electrodeposited from a bath containing the grain refining additive was the least due to the inhibiting effect of the additive incorporated into the deposit during electrolysis on atomic diffusion.
When bread making, the condition of thawing-fermentation for frozen dough were tested in variable temperature, and measured thawing-fermentation time and volume of frozen dough. L-Ascorbic acid (L-Aa) was added in frozen dough for the comparison test of develop volume in bread staling degree of baking bread were measured additive frozen dough which was stoppages in freezing, staling degrees were tested hardness with Rheometer. The test for comparison of thawing-fermentation time in variable temperature was shown the condition of dough conditioner at 3$0^{\circ}C$ was most effective for bread making, Because That condition was required very short time(74 min) But, in this comparison of volume in final products was shown the products in the condition of thawing-fermentation at 3$0^{\circ}C$ was smaller than the products at 5$^{\circ}C$(418 ml). The baking volume of L-Aa additive frozen dough which has under gone thawing-fermentation at 3$0^{\circ}C$, were shown baking volume of 420 ml in 2 weeks storage terms to 100 mg/kg L-Aa additive dough and shown baking volume of 454 ml in 4 weeks storage terms to dough of 200 mg/kg additive weight. Staling degrees of L-Aa additive frozen bread were measured with Rheometer. The hardness of 100 mg/kg L-Aa additive frozen bread was sown low level hardness in 1~2 weeks freezing term, 150 mg/kg L-Aa additive frozen bread was shown low level hardness in 3 weeks freezing term. In 4 weeks freezing term, 200 mg/kg L-Aa additive frozen bread was shown low level hardness compared with non-additive L-Aa frozen bread. In comparison of frozen bread quality, non-additive L-Aa products was better than additive L-Aa products in equality of baking shape and external apparence. But in total quality in external and internal apparence, additive L-Aa products was better than non-additive L-Aa products.

PURPOSES : This study is to develop a method to evaluate the compaction effects of asphalt binders using WMA additives and compare their compaction effects on two types of WMA additives, two types of testing temperatures, and three types of asphalt film thicknesses. METHODS : This study is based on laboratory experiments and rheological analysis of the experimental results. Testing materials are aggregate disks, asphalt, and WMA additives. The main testing method is the stress sweep test by using dynamic shear rheometer (DSR). In addition, the testing parameters obtained from the stress sweep results to evaluate lubrication effects are complex modulus and LVE-Limit. RESULTS : At both the first compaction condition ($110^{\circ}C$, 0.3mm) and second compaction condition ($80^{\circ}C$, 0.2mm) assumed, LEADCAP showed better compaction effects than Sasobit. CONCLUSIONS : The temperature $30^{\circ}C$ lower than general compaction temperatures can provide a better sensitivity for the evaluation of compaction effects. If a testing temperature and film thickness are grouped for the proper compaction conditions in the testing results, the compaction performance of each WMA additive can be more clearly discriminated in the grouped testing results matched with the grouped conditions.
