  • Even if transmissions through normal channel between ubiquitous devices and terminal readers are encrypted, any extra sources of information retrieved from encrypting module can be exploited to figure out the key parameters, so called side channel attack. Since side channel attacks are based on statistical methods, making side channel signal weak or complex is the proper solution to prevent the attack. Among many countermeasures, shielding the electromagnetic signal and adding noise to the EM signal were examined by applying different thicknesses of thin films of ferroelectric (BTO) and conductors (copper and gold). As a test vehicle, chip antenna was utilized to see the change in radiation characteristics: return loss and gain. As a result, the ferroelectric BTO showed no recognizable effect on both shielding and adding noise. Cu thin film showed increasing shielding effect with thickness. Nanometer Au exhibited possibility in adding noise by widening of bandwidth and red shifting of resonating frequencies.

  • Because of its effectiveness for the PD(partial discharge) pattern recognition, PSA(Pulse Sequence Analysis) has been considered as a new analytic method instead of conventional PRPDA(Phase Resolved Partial Discharge Analysis). However, PSA has a big problem that can misanalyze patterns in case of data missing resulting from poor sensitivity because it analyses the correlation between sequential pulses, which leads to hesitate to apply it to on-site. Therefore, in this paper, the problems of PSA such as data missing and noise adding cases were investigated. For the purpose, PD data obtained from various defects including noise adding data were used and analysed, The result showed that both cases can cause fatal errors in recognizing PD patterns. In case of the data missing, the error depends on the kinds of defect and the degree of degradation. Also, it could be noticed that the error due to adding noises was larger than that due to some data missing.

  • Adding a noise tolerance factor to the Relaxation learning algorithm in Hop-field network improves noise tolerance without effecting storage capacity. The new algorithm is called the Pseudo-Relaxation algorithm, and the convergence of the algorithm has been proved. It is also shown that the noise tolerance factor does not effect learning speed.

  • In this paper, the transmitted noise reduction of smart panels of which passive piezoelectric shunt damping is used, is experimentally studied. Shunt damping experiments are based on the measured electrical impedance model. A passive shunt circuit composed of inductor, and load resistor is devised to dissipate the maximum energy into the joule heat energy For multi mode shunt damping, the shunt circuit is redesigned by adding a blocking circuit. • In this paper, environmental noise analysis was performed for large power plant and desalination plant. Ray tracing method was used to predict inside noise of turbine building. It is important to design the plant with the allowable noise level. To improve the accuracy, main noise sources were estimated based on the field data. As the results of analysis, it was concluded that noise levels slightly exceed the specified noise limit in turbine building inside. In order to reduce the noise level, adding sound-absorbing materials to inside wall of turbine building was suggested and verified with the confirmed analysis model.

  • Engine noise is one of the major causes of the interior noise, and so has been studied in various ways in recent days. Recently Intake noise has been extensively studied to reduce the engine noise. Conventional method to reduce the noise is adding several resonators to the induction system. However this causes a reduction of engine output power and an increase of fuel consumption. In this study, the prototype of Active Intake Noise Control System is developed by using the Filtered-x LMS algorithm to reduce the Intake noise during acceleration. Intake noise is more excessively increased when the engine is rapidly accelerated. So, Normalized LMS algorithm is applied to improve the control performance under the rapid acceleration.

  • In this paper noise source and transfer path of tactical vehicle are analyzed with partial coherence function and spectrum analysis. Engine, transmission, structure panel and aerodynamic are main source of cabin noise. To reduce cabin noise, identifying transfer path of sources and analyzing their contribution is important. With modeling of transfer path and partial coherence function, transfer path and principal noise source can be identified. Engine/transmission and structural resonance are principal source of low frequency noise and by adding stiffener and sound absorbing material, resonance of vibration and inflow air problem can be solved.

  • Recently, for the purpose of improving the isolation performance of impact noise, many resilient materials have been installed in a residential building. As one of the reduction method for improving the performance of light-weight impact noise, this study is focused on the load condition of floating layer over resilient material. We studied the correlation between the mass or load of the floating layer and the reduction of light-weight impact noise by experiments in reverberation chamber for testing the impact noise. The results show that the reduction of impact noise is improved by increasing the mass per unit area of floating layer until about $140kg/m^2$. But the reduction is not obvious by adding extra mass on the floating layer.

  • This paper analyzed PFC of active clamp ZVS flyback converter by adding two methods PFC (power Factor Correction) circuit - two-stage and single-stage. The addition of active clamp circuit also provides a mechanism for achieving ZVS of both the primary and auxiliary switches. ZVS also limits the turn off di/dt of the output rectifier, reducing rectifier-switching loss and switching noise, due to diode reverse recovery. As a result, the proposed converters have characteristics of the reduced switching noise and high efficiency in comparison to conventional flyback converter. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed converter improve the input PF of 300W ZVS flyback converter by adding single-stage, two-stage PFC circuit.
