Up to now, a lot of houses, roads and other urban facilities have been damaged by natural disasters such as flash floods and landslides. It is reported that the size and frequency of disasters are growing greatly due to global warming. In order to mitigate such disaster, flood forecasting and alerting systems have been developed for the Han river, Geum river, Nak-dong river and Young-san river. These systems, however, do not help small municipal departments cope with the threat of flood. In this study, a real-time urban flood forecasting service (U-FFS) is developed for ubiquitous computing city which includes small river basins. A test bed is deployed at Tan-cheon in Gyeonggido to verify U-FFS. Wireless sensors such as rainfall gauge and water lever gauge are installed to develop hydrologic forecasting model and CCTV camera systems are also incorporated to capture high definition images of river basins. U-FFS is based on the ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System) that is data-driven model and is characterized by its accuracy and adaptability. It is found that U-FFS can forecast the water level of outlet of river basin and provide real-time data through internet during heavy rain. It is revealed that U-FFS can predict the water level of 30 minutes and 1 hour later very accurately. Unlike other hydrologic forecasting model, this newly developed U-FFS has advantages such as its applicability and feasibility. Furthermore, it is expected that U-FFS presented in this study can be applied to ubiquitous computing city (U-City) and/or other cities which have suffered from flood damage for a long time.

In many industrial applications, an unexpected fault of induction motor drive systems can cause serious troubles such as downtime of the overall system heavy loss, and etc. As one of methods to solve such problems, this paper investigates the fault diagnosis for open-switch damages in a voltage-fed PWM inverter for induction motor drive. For the feature extraction of a fault we transform the current signals to the d-q axis and calculate mean current vectors. And then, for diagnosis of different fault patterns, we propose a clustering based diagnosis algorithm The proposed diagnostic technique is a modified ANFIS(Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System) which uses a clustering method on the premise of general ANFIS's. Therefore, it has a small calculation and good performance. Finally, we implement the method for the diagnosis module of the inverter with MATLAB and show its usefulness.

Interacting Spherical tank has maximum storage capacity is broadly utilized in industries because of its high storage capacity. This two tank level system has the nonlinear characteristics due to its varying surface area of cross section of tank. The challenging tasks in industries is to manage the flow rate of liquid. This proposed work plays a major role in controlling the liquid level in avoidance of time delay and error. Several researchers studied and investigated about reducing the nonlinearity problem and their approaches do not provide better result. Different types of controllers with various techniques are implemented by the proposed system. Intelligent Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) based Sliding Mode Controller (SMC) with Fractional order PID controller is a novel technique which is developed for a liquid level control in a interacting spherical tank system to avoid the external disturbances perform better result in terms of rise time, settling time and overshoot reduction. The performance of the proposed system is obtained by analyzing the simulation result obtained from the controller. The simulation results are obtained with the help of FOMCON toolbox with MATLAB 2018. Finally, the performance of the conventional controller (FOPID, PID-SMC) and proposed ANFIS based SMC-FOPID controllers are compared and analyzed the performance indices.
In the design of underground excavation, the shear strength (SS) is a key characteristic. It describes the way the rock material resists the shear stress-induced deformations. In general, the measurement of the parameters related to rock shear strength is done through laboratory experiments, which are costly, damaging, and time-consuming. Add to this the difficulty of preparing core samples of acceptable quality, particularly in case of highly weathered and fractured rock. This study applies rock index test to the indirect measurement of the SS parameters of shale. For this aim, two efficient artificial intelligence methods, namely (1) adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) implemented by subtractive clustering method (SCM) and (2) support vector regression (SVR) optimized by Harmony Search (HS) algorithm, are proposed. Note that, it is the first work that predicts the SS parameters of shale through ANFIS-SCM and SVR-HS hybrid models. In modeling processes of ANFIS-SCM and SVR-HS, the results obtained from the rock index tests were set as inputs, while the SS parameters were set as outputs. By reviewing the obtained results, it was found that both ANFIS-SCM and SVR-HS models can provide acceptable predictions for interlocking and friction angle parameters, however, ANFIS-SCM showed a better generalization capability.

Verbal communication is the most commonly used mean of communication. A spoken word carries a lot of informations about speakers and their emotional states. In this paper we designed a model to recognize emotional states in a speech, a first phase of two phases in developing a toy machine that recognizes emotional states in a speech. We conducted an experiment to extract and analyse the emotional state of a speaker in relation with speech. To analyse the signal output we referred to three characteristics of sound as vector inputs and they are the followings: frequency, intensity, and period of tones. Also we made use of eight basic emotional parameters: surprise, anger, sadness, expectancy, acceptance, joy, hate, and fear which were portrayed by five selected students. In order to facilitate the differentiation of each spectrum features, we used the wavelet transform analysis. We applied ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System) in designing an emotion recognition model from a speech. In our findings, inference error was about 10%. The result of our experiment reveals that about 85% of the model applied is effective and reliable.

Until now variable pattern classification methods have been introduced. So, variable methods in PD source classification were applied. NN(neural network) the most used scheme as a PD(partial discharge) source classification. But in recent year another method were developed. These methods is present superior to NN in the field of image and signal process function of classification. In this paper, it is show classification result in PD source using three methods; that is, BP(back-propagation), ANFIS(adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system), PCA-LDA(principle component analysis-linear discriminant analysis).

Establishing realistic bus service coverage is needed to build optimum city bus line networks and reasonable bus service coverage areas. The purposes of this study are understanding the characteristics of the present walking time and marginal walking time of small-medium cities and constructing an ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System) model to estimate the marginal walking time for certain age and income. The cities of Masan, Chongwon and Jinju are selected for study cities. The 80 percentile of present walking time of bus users of these cities are 10.2-11.1 minutes, thus the values are greater than the 5 minutes of the maximum walking time in USA and the marginal walking times of 21.1-21.8 minutes are much greater. An ANFIS model based on pulled data of the cities are constructed to estimate the marginal walking time of small-medium cities. Analyzing the relationship between marginal walking time and age/income by using the model, the marginal walking time decreases as the age increases, but is near constant from the age of 25 to 35. And the marginal walking time is inversely proportional to the income. In comparing the surveyed and the estimated values, as the statistics of coefficient of determination, MSE and MAE are 0.996, 0.163, 0.333 respectively, it may be judged that the explainability of the model is very high. The technique developed in this study can be applied to other cities.
Nowadays, fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites are widely used for rehabilitation, repair and strengthening of reinforced concrete (RC) structures. Also, recent advances in concrete technology have led to the production of high strength concrete, HSC. Such concrete due to its very high compression strength is less ductile; so in seismic areas, ductility is an important factor in design of HSC members (especially FRP strengthened members) under flexure. In this study, the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) and multiple regression analysis are used to predict the curvature ductility factor of FRP strengthened reinforced HSC (RHSC) beams. Also, the effects of concrete strength, steel reinforcement ratio and externally reinforcement (FRP) stiffness on the complete moment-curvature behavior and the curvature ductility factor of the FRP strengthened RHSC beams are evaluated using the analytical approach. Results indicate that the predictions of ANFIS and multiple regression models for the curvature ductility factor are accurate to within -0.22% and 1.87% error for practical applications respectively. Finally, the effects of height to wide ratio (h/b) of the cross section on the proposed models are investigated.

Currently our country has very serious problems of traffic congestion and urban environment due to increasing automobile ownership. Recently, our concern about environmentally sustainable transportation and green transportation is increasing, so the government is pushing ahead the policy of bicycle using activation. So it is needed to develop a model to analyze the service level of bicycle roads more realistically. In this study, a neuro-fuzzy inference model to analyze the service level of bicycle roads was built selecting the width of bicycle roads, the number of conflicts during cycling and pedestrian volume, which have fuzzy characteristics, as input variables. The predictability of the model was evaluated comparing the surveyed and the estimated. The values of the statistics, $R^2$, MAE and MSE were 0.987, 0.142, 0.032. Therefore, It may be judged that the explainability of the model is very high. The service levels of bicyle roads estimated by the model are 1~3 steps lower than KHCM assessments. The reason may be explained that the model estimates the service level considering the width of bicycle roads and the number of conflicts simultaneously besides pedestrian volume.
