  • We propose a new MUD adaptive beamforming algorithm. It requires no reference signal and consists of two Processing stages. The first stage performs a scan function, and the second stage performs an adaptive beamforming algorithm. Computer simulations, considering multi-path Rayleigh Fading Channel in CUMA, are presented to verify the performance.

  • A new simple spatial scheme for base station with adaptive antenna in Code Division Multiplexing Access (CDMA) systems is presented. In the proposed scheme, by applying the new spatial structure lot the receiver, the system can debate the problem of which the number of users exceeds the number of adaptive antenna elements existing in the conventional spatial scheme. An adaptive algorithm based on the Mean Square Error (MSE) criterion is also derived to update the weight matrix of the proposed scheme. The results of the system capacity enhancement can be achieved by using the proposed approach. Numerical simulations are included fer illustration and verification.

  • This paper presents a semi-blind Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) beamforming adaptive algorithm used far OFDM/CDMA combined system. The proposed algorithm exploits the transmitting pilot signal in the initial period of the transmission to update the weight vector. Then it applies the blind adaptive period to update the weight vector, in which the pilot signal is no longer used. The derivation of the algorithm based on the Mean Square Error (MSE) criterion is also presented. Computer simulation is carried out to verify the performance of the proposed approach.

  • This paper presents a link adaptation scheme for adaptive full duplex (AFD) systems. The signal modulation levels and communication link patterns are adaptively selected according to the changing channel conditions. The link pattern selection process consists of two successive steps such as a transmit-receive antenna pair selection based on maximum sum rate or minimum maximum symbol error rate, and an adaptive modulation based on maximum minimum norm. In AFD systems, the antennas of both nodes are jointly determined with modulation levels depending on the channel conditions. An adaptive algorithm with relatively low complexity is also proposed to select the link parameters. Simulation results show that the proposed AFD system offers significant bit error rate (BER) performance improvement compared with conventional full duplex systems with perfect or imperfect self-interference cancellation under the same fixed sum rate.

  • In this paper, we have proposed the sectorization method of the adaptive sector antenna and the new receiver structure for the CDMA wireless multi-media communication which uses multi-code and single-code. The sectorization and average BER performance of the adaptive sector antenna, which employs the proposed sectorization method, are obtained through simulation. The simulation results have shown that the sizes of sectors are properly controlled according to the distribution of the load and that the BER performance of the adaptive sector antenna is enhanced much more than that of the fixed sector antenna. Also, we have proposed two receivers, which are different from the positions to detect multi-code signals, for the multi-media communication. Each receiver has a simple cancellation scheme and two adaptive sector antennas, which are called the 1st adaptive sector antenna and the 2nd adaptive sector antenna, respectively. In this paper, the average BER performances of the receivers are compared through simulation. As the results of the simulation, we have recognized that all user' BER performances are greatly dependent on the positions to detect the multi-code signals. When we consider both system complexity and terget BERs of signals, we have concluded that the receiver, which detect multi-code signals in the 1st and the 2nd adaptive sector antenna, is appropriate for the CDMA wireless multi-media communication systems.

  • In this paper, an adaptive nulling algorithm which can be used to form nulls in the direction of jammer or interference signals in array antennas of single port system is proposed. The proposed adaptive algorithm does not require a priori knowledge of the incoming signal direction and can be applied to the partially adaptive arrays. This algorithm is the combination of the PSO(Particle Swam Optimization) algorithm and the gradient-based perturbation adaptive algorithm, which shows stable nulling performance adaptively even on the moving jammer environment where the incident direction of the interference signal is changing with time.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive mode switching algorithm between two strategies in multiple antenna cellular networks:A single-user mode and a multi-user mode for the broadcast channel. If full channel state information is available at the base station, it is known that a multi user transmission strategy would outperform all single-user transmission strategies. In the absence of full side information, it is unclear what the capacity achieving method is, and thus there are few criteria to decide which of the myriad possible methods performs best given a system configuration. We compare a single user transmission and a multi user transmission with linear receivers in this paper where the transmitter and the receivers have multiple antennas, and find that neither strategy dom inates the other. There is instead a transition point between the two strategies. Then, the mode switching point is determined both ana lytically and numerically for a multiple antenna cellular downlink with correlation between transmit antennas.

  • Small size and light weight is very important for components used in radar mounted platform such as airborne radar. Recently, the active phased array radar is developed as an array of antennas for thousands of transmit/receive modules to be used as a multi-function radar that can detect and track targets. In this case, the size and weight of the transmit/receive modules are critical factor for developing the radar. In this paper, we developed a compact transmit/receive module using the 10W RF MEMS switch domestically localizing and reduced the circuit area to about 86.5% compared to using a circulator. The developed module satisfies not only electrical requirements but also MIL-STD's environmental specifications. So it can be used in a military device. It can be used at adaptive tunable receivers, reconfigurable smart active antennas and wide band beam electrical steering antennas.

  • In this Paper, the training principles and the control method of adaptive array antennas using the LMS and CMA algorithms for the $\pi$/4 QPSK signal is showed and the convergence characteristics, the adaptivity of directional pattern SINR and the replication of desired signal of adaptive arrays are compared and discussed each other. Computer simulation results showed that the SINR of LMS adaptive array was 13.8[dB], and that of CMA was 12.8[dB], and also the convergence characteristics of LMS was fast a little than that of CMA. The LMS adaptive array was also performed null point well for the interference signal direction than that of the CMA adaptive array.

  • We propose an unbiased signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) estimator for the high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) system. The proposed SIR estimator solves the problem of underestimation present in conventional SIR estimators and is suitable for channel quality measurement in the adaptive modulation and coding scheme of HSDPA, which requires accurate SIR estimation for optimum adaptive modulation and coding selection. Our analysis and simulation results demonstrate the improved estimation performance of the proposed SIR estimator.
