But the volume of coating was so minute, slight difference exists between each needle. Conclusions : Above results indicate that the bee venom acupuncture can complement shortcomings of syringe usage as a part of Oriental medicine treatment, but extensive researches should be done for further verification.

Evaluation of improvement was conducted with patient-report questionnaires and comparison of before and after pictures. Items for satisfaction and adverse events were included in the questionnaire, and it was filled out after treatment. The photographs were taken three times; before the first and the second subcision acupuncture, and two to four weeks after the second subcision acupuncture. Results : The results from questionnaire and photo comparison were reported positive and satisfactory. There were minor adverse events such as bruise or conspicuousness of other wrinkles that were not treated. Conclusions : Our study results suggests that the use of subcision acupuncture is effective for facial wrinkles.

  • Objectives : This study was to evaluate the effect of Bee venom-Acupuncture on knee joint with osteoarthritis. Methods : We investigated 30 cases of patients with osteoarthritis of knee joint. We flip a coin and divide into two groups. Bee venom-acupuncture was performed at one group, and the other group didn't do it. We evaluated the treatment effect of each group by using the WOMAC score. Results : 1. As a result of evaluation by using the WOMAC, the score after treatment was marked higher than that before treatment within each group. 2. After treatment, Bee venom-Acupuncture group showed significant difference on WOMAC score compared with acupuncture group. Conclusion : These results suggested that Bee venom-Acupuncture treatment should be more effective in the patient with osteoarthritis of knee joint.

  • Objective : This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of Acupuncture, Bee Venom Acupuncture (BVA) and Bee Venom Herbal Acupuncture (BVHA) on post-stroke hemiplegic shoulder pain. Methods : 30 patients were randomly allocated into Acupuncture group, BVA group and BVHA group and was monitored weekly for 4 weeks; initial($T_0$), 1 week($T_1$), 2 weeks($T_2$), 3 weeks($T_3$) and 4 weeks($T_4$). Results : Visual analogue scale of shoulder pain showed significant decrease in BVA and BVHA groups compared to the Acupuncture group at T4 evaluation. Painless passive ROM of shoulder external rotation and Fugl-Meyer Motor Assessment of Upper Limb motor function showed significant increase in all groups. Modified Ashworth scale of the spasticity of upper limb showed no differences between the three groups. Conclusion : BVA & BVHA appears to be an effective in treating post-stroke hemiplegic shoulder pain. Further clinical studies must be done to obtain more concrete findings.

  • Objectives : The aim of the study was to ascertain the effectiveness of magnetic acupuncture in patients with plantar fasciitis. Methods : The patients were treated with magnetic acupuncture using a magnetic therapy stimulator (Whata 153), as well as with moxibustion therapy. Acupuncture treatment was conducted on the acupoints of Ashi-as well as on 太谿 (KI3), 崑崙 (BL60), and 委中 (BL40)-for 15 minutes. The intensity of pain was evaluated using the visual analogue scale (VAS), and the tenderness threshold (TT) was measured at each visit using an algometer. Results : After treatment, evaluation using the VAS had improved, as had the TT; furthermore, plantar fasciitis pain was reduced. Conclusion : Magnetic acupuncture relieved pain in plantar fasciitis. In further clinical study, more research on magnetic acupuncture is required.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to compare the improvement of Ramsay Hunt Syndrome and Bell's palsy after Oriental Medicine treatment Methods : Twelve patients with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome and twenty patients with Bell's Palsy who visited the Iksan Oriental Medical Hospital of Wonkwang University were evaluated. Evaluation was carried out by facial palsy grading system of Yanagihara. Results : 1. In the analysis of causes. the most common cause was 'none' with 14 cases(43.8%). stress with 8 cases(25.0%). fatigue with 4 cases(12.5%), cold and URI with 3 cases(9.0%) each. 2. In the analysis of prodrome, there was retroauricular pain in 16 cases(50.0%). headache and 'none' in 8 cases(25.0%) each. 3. There was no significant difference between RHS and Bell's palsy in evaluation score. Conclusions : RHS and Bell's palsy showed no statistical significant difference between severity of before treatment and that of after treatment.

  • Objectives The purpose of this study is to present evidence by analyzing the research trends in acupuncture treatment in the last 10 years for thromboangiitis obliterans. Methods Randomized controlled trials about acupuncture on thromboangiitis obliterans were searched China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System (OASIS), ScienceON, Koreanstudies Information Service System (KISS) and Research Information Sharing Service (RISS) from January 1, 2011 to November 13, 2021. Only randomized controlled trials were selected and we assessed the risk of bias (RoB) according to the revised Cochrane RoB2 criteria. Results A total of 5 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were selected in this review and all were conducted in China. A total of 326 participants were in 5 RCTs. SP10, ST36, GB34 was the most commonly used treatment point. There were four types of acupuncture used: manual acupuncture, embedding acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, electroacupuncture. The most commonly used indicator for evaluation was the total efficacy rate, and all five studies were significantly higher. Conclusions All selected studies showed the group treated with acupuncture treatments on thromboangiitis obliterans were statistically more effective than the control group. However, the number of studies is too small and the interpretation of the results is limited due to the inclusion of subjective evaluation. So more objective and systematic studies should be conducted continuously.

  • Methods : We investigated 28 cases of patients with thoracolumbar compression fracture. We divided patients into two groups : We treated one group with complex oriental medical treatment focusing on Bee Venom Acupuncture therapy, and did the other group with complex oriental medical treatment focusing on acupuncture therapy. To investigate the effectiveness of treatment applied for two groups, we used Visual Analog Scale(VAS) and Oswestry Low-back Pain Disability Index(ODI). We compared the VAS score and ODI score of two groups statistically. Results : 1. Female is prominent in distribution of sex, the average age bracket is 70's, and the largest group was Faccidental fall in the distribution of cause. 2. In regard to level of injury, T12 was found to be most prominent, followed in turn by L1, L2. In regard to grade of clinical symptoms, Grade III was most prominent, followed by Grade IV, Grade II. 3. As a result of evaluation by using VAS score and ODI score, treatment score at final was significantly different from that at the baseline in each group. 4. After treatment, Bee Venom acupuncture therapy group showed significant difference on VAS score and ODI score compared with acupuncture therapy group. Conclusions : Bee Venom acupuncture therapy can be available for relieving symptoms related with thoracolumbar compression fracture.
