  • This study investigated four electric field configurations of two-dimensional accelerate lithium migration technique (ALMT), including line-to-line, plane-to-line, contour-to-line and plane-to-plane, and analyzed the ion migration behavior and efficiency. It was found that the free ion distribution diagram and voltage distribution diagram were similar, and ions migrated in the power line direction. The electrode modules were used for the mortar specimen with w/c ratio of 0.5. The effectively processed areas accounted for 14.1%, 39.0%, 49.4% and 51.4% of total area respectively on Day 28. Larger electrode area was more advantageous to ion migration. In addition, it was proved that the two-dimensional electric field could be divided into different equifield line active regions, and regarded as affected by one-dimensional electric field, and the ion migration results in various equifield line active regions were predicted by using the duration analysis method based on the theoretical model of ion migration obtained from one-dimensional test.

  • Oligomer type anionic surfactants(RmM-Na or RmD-Na} were synthesized from $C_{8}{\sim}C_{16}$ long chain alkylvinylether and maleic anhydride (or maleic diethylether). And also their fluorescent anionic surfactants (RmF- Na) were obtained from alkali neutralization which opens the lactone ring of the condensing materials produced by maleic anhydride alkylvinylether copolymer and 3-aminophenol. The measurement results for the surface active properties of water soluble oligomer type anionic surfactants with fluorescent structure (RmF-Na) exhibited a remarkable surface tension lowing property, foam breaking property, and a ernulsing power.

  • In this study, we investigated the physical properties of kraft pulps made from rice husk, peanut husk and garlic stems. These agricultural byproducts were collected individually, and then various pulps were manufactured from them by controlling active alkali, sulfidity, reaction time and the liquor ratio in the kraft pulping process in order to analyze the applicability of these agricultural byproducts as raw materials for kraft pulps. After kraft pulping, we measured yield, flake content, fiber length, fiber width and freeness of pulps, and the fiber shapes of the pulps were observed by using an optical microscope. When the higher active alkali, longer reaction time and lower liquor ratio were applied in kraft pulping process, reject content decreased and fiber yield increased. The pulp from garlic stems had the longest fiber length and that from rice husk showed the highest intial freeness. All of the pulps from agricultural byproducts showed higher initial freeness, shorter fiber length and the similar fiber width compared to OCC, BCTMP and hardwood BKP. The fibers of the pulps made from agricultural byproducts showed a similar shape to those of commercial pulps. It was concluded that these agricultural byproducts had a potential as raw materials to produce an alternative pulp to the commercial pulps.

  • The objective of this study is to determine the engineering properties of micro fine hybrid silicate grout materials that were developed recently. In this study, MSG-N type was mainly used as grout materials, and the chemical components, grain size distribution, mineral characteristics were analyzed. Moreover, the properties of active silica and ordinary portland cement acting as coagulating agent were analyzed and compared with each other. To determine the engineering properties, the bleeding test, viscosity test, coagulation test, examination with naked eye, photographing by using SEM, uniaxial compression test and in-situ application test for reclaimed ground were carried out. A series of test results showed that the strength of micro fine hybrid silicate grout materials was about twice that of ordinary sodium silicate grout materials, and alkali leakage decreased dramatically when MSG method was utilized. Especially, based on the evaluation of the application of the MSG method to field, this method would be very effective in reducing coefficient of permeability due to its excelent permeability.

  • One strain of Streptomyces sp. (AS-707) isolated from soil was found to produce a biologically active substance that showed a strong inhibitory activity against proteolytic enzymes viz. trypsin, papain, $\alpha$-chymotrypsin, Azotobacter protease, and Bacillus pretense. The substance was separated from culture filtrate by ion exchange column chromatography using Amberlite IRC-50 and CM-cellulose column chromatography. It was found that the recovery yield was 26% as activity basis. The substance was stable in wide pH range from 2.0 to 12.0 at 37$^{\circ}C$, but it was unstable in alkaline pH values at 6$0^{\circ}C$. The activity was thermostable to give 90% activity compared to the intact sample when it was treated at pH5.6 at 10$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours.

  • The cement industry is expected to face a major set-back in the near future due to its large energy consumption and $CO_2$ production, causing global warming. In order to overcome these environmental problems, this research has bee carried out to find a cement substitute material. One possible cement substitute material is Zeolite cement. In this study, the materialistic characteristics of Zeolite cement mortar were evaluated. Natural Zeolite cement mortar was prepared using alkali activation (NaOH) instead of water ($H_2O$) to determine achievable strength and appropriate mixing ratio. Based on the mixing ratio, functional material was added to alkali active agent to harden Zeolite mortar to develop a highly functional construction material. The study result showed that pure Zeolite cement mortar achieved compressive strength of 42 MPa in 7 days depending on the mixing amount of alkaline catalyst and the hardening temperature, showing high efficiency and possibility as a new construction material.

  • Plant biomass has been proposed to be an alternative source for petroleum-based chemical compounds. Especially, phenolic chemical compounds can be obtained from lignin by chemical depolymerization processes because lignin consists of complex aromatic polymer such as trans-p-coumaryl, coniferyl and sinapyl alcohols, etc. Phenolic chemical compounds from lignin were usually produced in super critical water. However, we applied Near-critical water (NCW) system because NCW is known as a good solvent for lignin depolymerization. Organic matter like lignin can be solved in NCW system and the system has a unique acid-base property without conventional non-eco-friendly chemicals such as sulfuric acid and sodium hydroxide. In this work, we tried to optimize the NCW depolymerization system by adjusting the processing variables such as reaction time, temperature and pressure. Moreover, the amount of additional phenol was optimized by changing the molar ratio between water and phenol. Phenol was used as capping agent to prevent re-polymerization of active fragment such as formaldehyde. Alkali-lignin was used as a starting material and characterized by a Solid State 13C-NMR, FT-IR and EA (Elemental Analysis). GC-MS analysis confirmed that o-cresol, p-cresol, anisole and 4-hydroxyphathalic acid were the main product and they were quantitatively analyzed by HPLC.

  • The following thesis researched into the characteristics of electrolytic ion water with different levels of electrical conductivity by adding NaCl into tap water which is for experimental use in multi-layered electrolytic ion water generator. Electrolytic ion water is generated by underwater electrolysis and the electrolysis generator has a simple structure, is easy to control and is highly utilized in industries. Electrolytic ion water is useful in many areas since it has a superior sterilizing power, has no possibility of secondary pollution itself as water and removes active oxygen. In the experiment, we used tap water with NaCl excluded and water with three different levels of electrical conductivity by changing NaCl concentration levels into three levels. The features of current and voltage in electrolytic ion water represented a form of quadric instead of the linear characteristic following ohm's law. As well, as the electric conductivity of water and applied voltage increased, we were able to generate much stronger acid water and alkali water.

  • This study was conducted to confirm the effect of bypass dust on the hydration and mechanical properties of the cement pastes and mortar obtained from ordinary Portland cement (OPC), OPC-slag and OPC-fly ash system. The rate of heat evolution is accelerated with the content of By-pass Dust(BD). total heat evolution increased because alkali-chlorides activated the hydration of blended cement. Compressive strength and bound water content show maximum value at 5wt% By-pass Dust(BD) on each curing time in ordinary Portland cement and slag blended cement. Ca(OH)2 content of Ordinary Portland Cement increased as the content of BD and curing time. In blended cement, the formation of Ca(OH)2 is active at early hydration stage. By pozzolanic reaction, the content of Ca(OH)2 is decreased as curing time goes by. According to the BD content stable chlorides complex of Friedel's salt (C3A·CaCl2·10H2O) is created. Due to the hydration activation effect of chlorides and alkali we observed Type II C-S-H, which developed into densest microstructure.
