입상활성탄에 의한 합성폐수의 용존유기물질의 새로운 흡착등온 모델 및 운동학적 흡착 연구 (Study of new adsorption isotherm model and kinetics of dissolved organic carbon in synthetic wastewater by granular activated carbon)

  • 본 논문은 입상활성탄에 의해서 합성폐수에서의 용존유기탄소의 흡착평형과 회분식 실험을 통해 흡착성질을 파악하고자 하였다. 흡착평형의 새로운 모델식을 제안하였고 이 식을 바탕으로 회분식 실험데이터를 모사하였다. 합성폐수의 유기성분은 Beef extract, Peptone, Humic acid, Tannic acid, Sodium lignin sulfonate, Sodium lauryle sulfate, Arabic gum powder, Arabic acid (polysaccharide), $(NH_4)_2SO_4$, $K_2HPO_4$, $NH_4HCO_3$, $MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$ 등으로 구성되었다. 농도가 낮은 영역 (0~2.5 mg/L)에서는 선형적인 흡착평형을 보여주었고, 농도가 높은 영역 (2.5~6mgl/L)에서는 우호적인 흡착평형을 보여주었다. 사용되어진 생물학적 처리방법에서 나오는 유출수의 합성폐수는 알려진 양으로 준비되어졌다. 흡착평형 모델링은 Freundlich, Langmuir, Sips 및 하이브리드 식을 이용하여 모사하였다. 특히, 선형과 Sips를 이용한 하이브리드 흡착평형식은 낮은 농도와 높은 농도 역에서 매우 좋은 흡착평형식이었다. 용수 및 폐수처리에 활성탄 흡착에 있어서, 선형식과 Sips식을 합친 새로운 하이브리드 식은 새로운 흡착평형식이 될 수 있었다. 하이브리드 흡착평형식 (선형+Sips)을 이용하여 LDFA 운동학적식을 통하여 다양한 흡착제 양에 따른 회분식 반응조에서의 실험데이터를 잘 모사할 수 있었다.

  • 본 논문에서 Fe-활성탄소 섬유(ACF)/$TiO_2$ 복합체 광촉매를 졸-겔 방법에 의하여 제조하였다. 합성된 광촉매는 UV조사하에서 MB용액의 광분해에 사용되었다. BET 데이터는 Fe와 Ti의 여러 가지 농도를 가지고 처리된 ACF의 표면에서 흡착 특성을 보여준다. SEM 사진에서 보여지는 것처럼, 철 혼합물과 $TiO_2$는 ACF 표면에 활착되어 있음을 나타내었다. X선 분말 회절법으로부터 얻어진 결과는 복합체로부터 FeO+$TiO_2$, Anatase 및 Rutile 구조의 결정상을 나타내었다. 원소분석을 위한 EDX spectra는 Fe와 함께 C, O, Ti의 peak들이 존재함을 나타내었다. MB 분해에 대한 활성은 $TiO_2$의 광분해와 Fe의 photo-Fenton 효과로 인해 전자/hole쌍 반응으로부터 파생된 -OH 라디칼들에 의한 것으로 여겨진다.

극저농도 NDMA(N-nitrosodimethylamine) 물리적/생물학적 처리 효율 비교 평가 (Evaluation and Comparative Physical/Biological Removal Performance for Extremely Low-Concentration NDMA(N-nitrosodimethylamine))

  • NDMA(N-Nitrosodimethylamine)는 극저농도(10ng/L)에서도 암을 일으킬 수 있는 물질로 알려져 있지만, 기존의 NDMA 제거율 평가 연구는 고농도의 NDMA를 대상으로 한 것이 대부분이었다. 따라서 극저농도의 NDMA 제거효율 평가가 필요하며 그 기초연구로써 호기성/혐기성 조건에서의 분말활성탄, GS(Granular Sludge), MF(Microfiltration), UF(Ultrafiltration)를 이용한 제거효율과 Silica gel(MCM-41, Diatomite, Spherical silica gel)을 이용한 제거효율을 평가하였다. 그 결과 혐기성 조건에서 GS, PAC를 접촉한 후 UF membrane을 이용한 고액분리가 65%의 제거율로 가장 높았으며, Silica gel(MCM-41)이 6%의 제거율로 가장 낮았다. 본 연구는 극저농도의 NDMA 제거의 기초 연구로서 향후 관련 연구의 기초자료로써 활용을 기대한다.

Synthesis of Spherical Carbons Containing Titania and Their Physicochemical and Photochemical Properties

  • In this study, we used activated carbon (AC) and charcoal (CH) as carbon sources with $TiO_2$ powder to prepare spherical carbons containing titania (SCCT) by using phenolic resin (PR) as a bonding agent. The physicochemical characteristics of the SCCT samples were examined by BET, XRD, SEM, EDX, iodine adsorption and compressive strength. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by measuring the removal efficiency of three kinds of organic dyes: methylene blue (MB), methyl orange (MO) and rhodamine B (Rh.B) under a UV/SCCT system. In addition, evaluation of chemical oxygen demand (COD) of piggery waste was done at regular intervals and gave a good idea about the mineralization of wastewater.

  • 고순도 동 제조를 위해 황산동 전해액중에 존재하는 은(Ag)을 제거하기 위한 기초연구를 실시하였다. 이온교환수지법, 활성탄 흡착법, 구리분말 및 세선을 이용한 치환법, CuS침전법 등을 이용하여 Ag제거에 대한 실험을 실시하였으며, 은(Ag)제거 반응에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 반응온도, 반응시간, 첨가량 등에 대해 고찰하였다. 이들 방법중 CuS 침전법과 Lewatit TP214를 이용한 이온교환수지 방법이 효과적이었는데 특히 Lewatit TP214를 사용한 경우 초기 동전해액중, Ag 농도가 10ppm서 0.1ppm 이하 수준까지 제거가 가능하였다.

  • Electrodes were fabricated based on activated carbon powder BP-20, conducting agent such as Super P, vapor grown carbon fiber (VGCF) and acetylene black (AB), and the mixed binders of flexible poly(vinylidenefluoridehexafluoropropylene) [P(VdF-co-HFP)] and cross linking dispersion agent of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) to increase mechanical strength. According to impedance measurement of the electrode with the addition of conducting agent, we found that it was possible to charge rapidly by the fast steady-state current convergence due to low equivalent series resistance (AC-ESR, fast charge transfer rate at interface between electrode and electrolyte and low RC time constant. The self-discharge of unit cell showed that diffusion process was controlled by the ion concentration difference of initial electrolyte due to the characteristics of Electric Double Layer Capacitor (EDLC) charged by ion adsorption in the beginning, but this by current leakage through the double-layer at the electrode/electrolyte interface had a minor effect and voltages of curves were remained constant regardless of electrode material. We found that the 2.3V/230F grade EDLC would be applied to industrial safety usage such as uninterrupted power supply (UPS) because of the constant DC-ESR by IR drop regardless of discharge current.

방전 플라즈마 소결에 의한 Distaloy AE-TiC 써멧의 치밀화 특성 (The Densification Properties of Distaloy AE-TiC Cermet by Spark Plasma Sintering)

  • The fabrication of Fe alloy-40 wt.%TiC composite materials using spark plasma sintering process after ball-milling was studied. Raw powders to fabricate Fe alloy-TiC composite were Fe alloy, $TiH_{2}$ and activated carbon. Fe alloy powder was Distaloy AE (4%Ni-1%Cu-0.5%Mo-0.01%C-bal.%Fe) made by Hoeganes company with better toughness and lower melting point. These powders were ball-milled in horizontal attrition ball mill at a ball-to-powder weight ratio of 30 : 1. After that, these mixture powders were sintered by using spark plasma sintering apparatus for 5 min at $1200-1275^{\circ}C$ in vacuum atmosphere under $10^{-3}$ torr. DistaloyAE-40 wt.%TiC composite was directly synthesized by dehydrogenation and carburization reaction during sintering process. The phase transformation of as-milled powders and sintered materials was confirmed using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The density and harness materials was measured in order to confirm the densification behavior. In case of DistaloyAE-40 wt.%TiC composite retained for 5 min at $1275^{\circ}C$, it has the relative density of about 96% through the influence of rapid densification and fine TiC particle reinforced Fe-based composites materials.

J 정수장의 하절기 THMs 생성현황과 분말활성탄 처리에 의한 저감효과 (A Survey of THMs Formation in J Water Purification Plant and Its Reduction by PAC Treatment during Summer)

  • This study was conducted to survey trihalomethane(THMs) levels in finished water of J water treatment plant and examine its reduction by powder activated carbon(PAC) treatment. Samples were collected weekly based and head-space technique was employed to determine THMs levels by G.C-ECD. THMs levels in finished waters were highest in August and showed close relationship with water temperature. All the samples satisfied the drinking water limit(100 ${\mu}$g/l) for THMs. The individual formation rates of THMs were 64.8% for CHCl$_3$, 28.4% for CHCl$_2$BR, 6.5% for CHClBr$_2$ and 0.3% for CHBr$_3$, respectively and showed little monthly difference. The reduction efficiency of THMs formation by PAC treatment was 67% during July and August. Bromine substituents were more efficiently reduced than CHCl$_3$ by PAC.

  • For the first time, a totally solid state electric double layer capacitor has been fabricated using an alkaline polymer electrolyte and an activated carbon powder as electrode material. The polymer electrolyte serves both as separator as well as electrode binder. The capacitor has a three-layer structure; electrode-electrolyte-electrode. A cyclic voltammetry and constant current discharge have been used for the determination of the electro chemical performance of capacitors.

부식방지를 위한 마그네슘 및 칼슘 이온의 흡착 제거에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Absorptive Removal of Magnesium ion and Calcium ion for Corrosion Prevent)

  • To the removal of hardness materials, we've test the absorptive capacity of main material $Mg^{2+},\;Ca^{2+}$ on the using the activated carbon powder saturated in 0.1M Nitrilotriacetic acid by experimental methods. The absorptive properties of $Ca^{2+}\;and\;Mg^{2+}$ were measured with absorbent quantity and contact time., and investigated the physical properties of overall rate constant and adsorption constant adsorption isotherm, and Langmuir and Freundlich constant. In case of k' adsorption rate constants of $Ca^{2+},\;Mg^{2+}$, was 0.00299, 0.00529 by Bhattahary and Venkobachar equation. $k_{aa}$ was 0.00373, 0.00640 according with adsorption rate constants of Lagergren.
