A Novel Way of Diversifying Context Awareness Based on Limited Event Data of Sensors using Exon-Intron Theory in the Internet of Things Environment (사물인터넷 환경에서 Exon-Intron 이론을 활용한 센서의 제한된 이벤트 데이터 기반 상황인식 다양화 방안)

  • In an environment in which a limited type and number of sensors are used, a demand for acquiring various context information may appear. In this study, a new method for acquiring various context information than before was proposed in an environment in which a limited number of sensors are required. To this end, a clue was obtained from the Exon-Intron theory, which is gaining great interest in the field of biology, and a method for acquiring various context information was proposed based on this. By applying Exon-Intron's selective cutting and combining method, events of each sensor were efficiently cut and each event data was combined and utilized, thereby realizing the diversification of the acquired context information.

The Impact of M&As with a Start-up on Shareholder Wealth (상장기업과 스타트업과의 인수합병이 주주의 부(富)에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we investigate the announcement effects of M&As with a start-up as a target firm on shareholder wealth of an acquiring firm. We use M&A events in KOSPI or KOSDAQ market between 2002 and 2014 after the financial crisis. Among the total 1436 mergers and acquisitions that took place domestically during this period, 1383 cases were selected as cases to be studied, excluding 53 cases where acquiring firms were unlisted firms. The results of the analysis are as follows: First, as a result of a comparison between the acquiring firms' CARs of the whole sample group(n=1383) occurred during the (-2, +1), (-5, +2), (-10, +5) periods of M&A announcement date(t=0) and the sub-sample group(n=468) where the target firms are start-ups which were established within five years, the acquiring firms of the whole sample group do not show significat CARs, while the acquiring firms of the sub-sample group show the significantly positive CARs. This suggests that M&A with start-ups have a positive effect on firm value of acquiring firms. Second, when merging unlisted start-ups, the acquiring firms show positive CARs, showing that there exists a listing effect in the merger of start-up. Third, merging the start-ups belonging to the high-tech industry shows the higher CARs than the case of merging the start-ups belonging to the non-high-tech industry. This study has great significance as the first in Korea to investigate the effect of M&A announcement with a start-up.

  • Although the concept of viewing knowledge as a critical resource has been widely accepted in prior studies, it is not fully understood how to acquire available knowledge in order to improve organizational effectiveness. However, it si sure that organizational knowledge management should pursuit the achievement of the business goal by delivering relevant and useful information to the right person at the right time. Group Support System (GSS) can play an important role to transfer scatter information into meaningful business knowledge for supporting strategic corporate decision-making. This study proposes a fuzzy GSS framework for acquiring workgroup knowledge from individual memory and aggregating workgroup knowledge to organizational knowledge. This study also proposes an architecture to support the fuzzy GSS framework. The architecture consists of user agents, information management agents, and a fuzzy model manager. To illustrate how the fuzzy GSS framework can be used to support the whole process of organization knowledge acquisition, an Internet-based GSS was developed and applied in a marketing decision process. It showed that the framework was effective for acquiring organizational knowledge.

  • In general, radial velocity of a target can be obtained by acquiring doppler frequency shift in case of a doppler radar, or can be obtained by acquiring range rate in case of a pulse radar. Then radial velocity can be converted to tangential velocity using aspect angle or position variation per unit time. These two ways have the same meaning in physically, but result in different uncertainty finally. In this paper, it is described not only the two transformation procedures to calculate tangential velocity from radar measurement data, but also the result of combined uncertainty comparison between these two procedures.

  • Multinational Corporations (MNCs) are establishing globally-distributed R&D centers around the world. Firms can overcome resource constraints and achieve superior innovative performance not only by using internal resources but also acquiring knowledge from oversea R&D centers. This paper explores the key factors that have been cited as significant influences on the ability to transfer knowledge, an important area of knowledge management of MNCs. Also, we identify the emerging outcomes in terms of R&D transfer and for the education, employment, and retention of knowledge works in MNCs. The result will be helpful for both MNC's managers and governments' decision makers with respect to R&D centers.

Feasibility of Exporting Korean Organic Agricultural Products to Japanese Market (한국산 유기JAS인증 농산물의 일본 수출가능성 분석 -방울토마토를 중심으로-)

  • The objective of this paper is to evaluate the feasibility of exporting Korean organic agricultural products to Japanese market. To achieve the objective, we explored the marketing trend of organic agricultural products in Japan and surveyed marketing dealers and food processors that deal with organic foods. We also analyzed Korean farmers' intention of acquiring organic Japanese Agricultural Standard(JAS) certificate in order to export organic agricultural products. The results show that mini tomato is economically feasible to acquire organic JAS certificate but other agricultural products need more attentions. The results also suggest that the education of production and safety management using the international standards such as Japanese Agricultural Standard should be strengthened by local government to promote export of organic agricultural products. The paper implies that producers acquiring organic Japanese Agricultural Standard should be systematization to get larger scale and to guarantee the stability in export supply.

The Role of Distributional Cues in the Acquisition of Verb Argument Structures

  • This paper investigates the role of input frequency in the acquisition of verb argument structures based on distributional information of a corpus of utterances derived from the English CHILDES database (MacWhinney 1993). It has been widely accepted that children successfully learn verb argument structures by innate language mechanisms, such as linking rules which connect verb meanings and its syntactic structures. In contrast, an approach to language acquisition called “statistical language learning” has currently claimed that children could succeed in acquiring syntactic structures in the absence of innate language mechanisms, making use of distributional properties of the input. In this paper, I evaluate the feasibility of the statistical learning in acquiring verb argument structures, based on distributional information about locative verbs in parental input. The naturalistic data allow us to investigate to what extent the statistical learning approach can and cannot help children succeed in learning the syntax of locative verbs. Based on the results of English database analysis, I show that there is rich statistical information for learning the syntactic possibilities of locative verbs in parental input, despite some limitations in the statistical learning approach.

PIR Speed Control Method of AC Motors Considering Time Delay in Speed Information

  • Applying a periodic load torque to an AC motor generates a ripple, which is synchronized to the frequency of the periodic load torque, at the speed of the motor. Consequently, numerous studies have focused on reducing the speed ripple caused by the load torque. However, it is difficult to reduce the speed ripple when there is a time delay in acquiring speed information, such as that from a sensorless control. Therefore, we propose a speed control method for reducing speed ripples caused by a periodic load torque when there is a time delay in acquiring the speed information. The proposed method is verified by conducting simulations using the Simulink program from MATLAB, and by applying the method to an actual motor in which speed ripples occur due to a periodic load torque that is synchronized with the speed of the motor.

  • This study aims at identifying the motive and infra that can satisfy them and enable them to succeed by coming out of existing customers control method focused on data and acquiring and applying the knowledge customers have. It also aims at enabling corporations to carry out more developed customer relations. This study will prove that acquiring and applying customers' knowledge is effective and will come up with a stepping-stone to get rid of dangerous factors by having competitiveness in a competitive environment and extending and changing the corporation. For this, the study have identified knowledge-oriented infra that corporations know and customer relations by conducting a poll of local corporations and have presented motives that can effectively carry out knowledge-based customer relations.
