Colorimetric and wash fastness data after repeated wash cycles of Poly Lactic Acid(PLA) fiber were examined with C. I. Vat Blue 1, also other comparing 2 dyes (C. I. Vat Blue 35, C. I. Vat Blue 5), in this study. The fastness of three vat dyes on PLA fiber to repeated washing according to KS K 0430 A-2 regulation increased with dyeing temperatures. The $L^*$ values of the dyed material gradually increased with increasing numbers of wash. Also the f(k) values were decreased reversely. During repeated washing, the vagrant dyes were deposited especially on nylon, polyester, cotton of the adjacent multifiber. C. I. Vat Blue 5 displayed lowest color change to repeated washing of the three dyes used.
In order to study the dyeability of reactive dyes fixable at neutral pH, three reactive dyes(DYE-NC, DYE-PC, and DYE-LC) were prepared by the reaction of Cibacron Brilliant Red 3B-A with nicotinic acid, pyridine, and lutidine, respectively. FT-IR and UV/Vis spectrophometry were used to identify the dyes prepared. While the maximum absorption wavelength (&{\lambda}_{max}&) of Cibacron Brilliant Red 3B-A was 515nm, the &{\lambda}_{max}& of DYE-NC, DYE-PC, and DYE-LC were 522nm, 525nm, and 536nm, respectively. The &{\lambda}_{max}& was shifted to the longer wavelength by introducing the electron donating groups to the pyridine ring of Cibacron Brilliant Red 3B-A. All of the reactive dyes synthesized showed good exhaustion and fixation property to cotton fabric at higher temperature and neutral pH condition. It was regarded that the quaternary pyridinium ion functionated as the leaving group instead of the chloride ion. Among them, DYE-NC showed the best dyeability at the above condition. It was considered that the electron withdrawing carboxylic acid group in nicotinic acid enhanced the cationic property of nitrogn in pyridine ring, resulting the good reactivity with OH group in cellulose.
Agricultural drainage salt generated during irrigation of crops in San Joaquin Valley, California, exceeds 600,000 tons annually and cumulates in the field in a rapid rate. As a result, the waste is taking out more farmlands for salt storage and disposal, imposing serious concerns to environment and local agricultural industry. In searching for a potential solution to reduce or eliminate the waste, this research explored feasibility of producing a value-added product, sodium sulfate, from the waste and utilizing the product in textile dyeing. The results indicated that sodium sulfate could be produced from the salt and could be purified by a recrystallization method in a temperature range within the highest and lowest daily temperatures in summer in the valley. The recovered sodium sulfate samples, with purities ranging from 67% to 99.91, were compared with commercially available sodium sulfate in the dyeing of levelling dyes. In nylon fabrics, the salt samples had little color difference in the dyeing with C.I. Acid Yellow 23 and C.I. Acid Blue 158. All salt samples' gray scale was 5 grade. In wool fabrics, the salt samples had little color difference in dyeing with C.I. Acid Yellow 23 and C.I. Arid Blue 158. All salt samples' gray scale was 5 grade. Generally, the dyeing of levelling dyes using recovered salts from farm drainage had little color difference than the dyeing of levelling dyes using commercial sodium sulfate.
In one bath dyeing system of silk/cellulose acetate fiber blend fabric with acid /disperse dyes, adsorption behavior of acid dyes and disperse dyes on silk and cellulose acetate fabrics were examined. In the dyeing of cellulose acetate with C. I. Disperse Red 19(Red 19) and C. I. Disperse Red 60(Red 60) at 8$0^{\circ}C$ and 10$0^{\circ}C$, dye uptake with Red 19 was higher than that with Red 60. When the silk/cellulose acetate dyed with Red 19 and Red 60 at 10$0^{\circ}C$, dye uptake on cellulose acetate was influenced by affinity of the dye to the silk fabric dyed together. When the silk/cellulose acetate dyed with Blue 80/Red 19 and Blue 80/Red 60 at 10$0^{\circ}C$, color of cellulose acetate dyed with Red 19 and Red 60 was not influenced by Blue 80 but silk dyed with Blue 80 was influenced by Red 19 and Red 60. Interrelation of K/S value and Munsell value was scarcely any but showed the change tendency of K/S value.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the dyes solubility of dry cleaning solvents among the current domestic products. The dyes were experimented in following way; 1) The flow rate of dyes by paper chromatography method. 2) The color difference & the absorbance of solvents between the dyed fabrics before and after dry cleaning. From the experiment, following results were obtained. 1. In paper chromatography methods, the flow rate of dyes in the disperse dyes was bigger while flow was not shown in the direct dyes & acid dyes. 2. The more the number of times on dry cleaning in dyed fabrics was, the higher the absorbance of solvents was shown. The results were showed following order, PerchloroethyleneHydrocarbon> Fluorocabon. 3. The color difference between before & after dry cleaning on dyed fabrics showed bigger in disperse dyes.
Due to the low biodegradability of dyes, conventional biological wastewater treatment systems are inefficient in treating dye wastewater. Various white-rot fungi were investigated for the decolorization of six industrial dyes (reactive blue 5, reactive blue 16, reactive black 5, acid black 52, reactive orange 16, and acid violet 43). Among ten fungi, T. versicolor KCTC 16781 was selected as a testing strain because this had the best performance of decolorization for six dyes from the results of the solid culture experiments. In liquid culture medium, T. versicolor KCTC 16781 decolorized over 96% of six dyes for 48 hrs. Laccase started to produce in the early stage of the culture, and showed the highest peak value of 2.3 U/mL in 24 hrs. Enzyme activity remained constant until the end of culture. Fungal decolorization is a promising alternative to replace or supplement present treatment process.
In recent, development of nano fiber has been one of the most active subjects in the world. Nano fiber is defined as a ultra fine yarn with a diameter unit of $10-100\times10^{-9}meter$, which is possible to be produced by an electro-spinning technology. In this study, physical characteristics and dyeing properties of nylon 66 nano fiber were investigated. Nylon 66 nano fiber was dyed with levelling type acid dyes. X-ray diffraction method and DSC analysis were used for the measurement of the degree of crystallization. Analysis of amino end groups was also performed in order to examine a relationship between number of amino groups and its dyeing property as well as water absorption behavior. The maximum exhaustion % of dyes and dyeing rate under various dyeing conditions, such as dyeing temperature and pH in dye bath, along with build-up properties for 2 acid dyes were evaluated. It was found that the degree of crystallization of nano fiber was smaller than that of regular fiber, and amino end groups of nano fiber were less than regular fiber. Half dyeing time of nano fiber was shorter than regular fiber because of the bigger specific surface area. Effect of pH on exhaustion % was small in case of nano fiber. Exhaustion of nano fiber increased with higher concentration of dye.
Nowadays natural textile materials should cope with the global warming. Soft, thin and light angora fibers which have two components. One is spiky hair and the other is soft hair. The spiky hairs have a disadvantage of pilling out. The soft hairs have promising properties comparable to cashmere goat hairs, which is cheap compared to very expensive cashmere goat hairs. In this study, we investigated the dyeing properties of angora/PET, Nylon blend fabrics to acid dyes and reactive dyes including various series of acid dyes and reactive dyes for the dyeing of the blended super soft angora fabrics and their potential for deep shade dyeing effects. Our focus is to get a relation between various kind of blend and their dyeability.

In recent years, there has been an intensive research on decolorization of dye and textile wastewater by various fungal strains. In this study, the decolorization ability of three commercial dyes, acid yellow 99, acid blue 350, and acid red 114, were investigated using 10 fungal strains. Among the fungal strains tested, Trametes versicolor KCTC 16781 completely decolorized all dyes in both solid and liquid experiments, and was also able to decolorize the mixture of those three dyes in liquid experiments. The secretion of the ligninolytic enzymes into the extracellular medium during decolorization by T versicolor KCTC 16781 was also studied. No lignin peroxidase activity was detected, and manganese peroxidase and laccase activities were investigated.
