고속 광통신망에서 스위칭 오버헤드를 고려한 동적 전송 예약 프로토콜 (A dynamic transmission reservation protocol with non-zero tunig delay for high-speed mutliwavelength networks)

  • Relatively slow tuning speed of optical device causes the unwanted delay in high speed single-hop multiwavelength networks. To lessen the overhead, we present a channel access protocol with dynamjic message scheduling. Th eframe structure of proposed protocol adopts hybrid multiaccess scheme in which WDMA is used as a basic multiaccess technique and TDMA is used to provide subchannels within a wavelength band. This architecture has two merits : the network extention is not limited by available number of wavelengths, and the transmission delay caused by optical device tuning time can to minimize the number of tunings. It schedules messages that require same wavelength channels sequencely, so the total transmission delay is reduced by decreasement of wavelength changes. The performance of proposed protocol is evaluated through numerical analysis based on probability and queueing theory. The peformance of proposed protocol is evaluated through numerical analysis based on probability and queueing theory. The numeric results show that the peformance of proposed protocol is better than that of previous one.

  • This paper analyses the real-time performance of Ethernet based intranet whether it is applicable to the real-time network. Unpredictability of transmission delay by collision-delay-retransmission mechanism in CAMA/CD(Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detect) of Ethernet is the major reason making hard to apply to real-time system. Both retransmission mechanism of TCP(Transmission Control Protocol) for reliability and sliding windows algorithm for high utilization make hard to predict transmission delay.   • We consider connection-oriented wireless cellular networks such as the second generation wireless cellular networks and wirelss ATM networks. In these networks, a separate forward signaling channel is provided for the transmission of paging and channel allocation packets. When a call destined to a user is requested, all the base stations in the user's current location area broadcast the corresponding paging packet across forward signaling channels. By slot mode operation and paging group allocation for fusers in a location area, we can reduce relative power consumption level at battery-operated terminals. However, a sthe number of paging groups is increased for lowering relative power consumption level, a paging packet experiences higher delay to access the forward signaling channel. For the pre-negotiated quality-of-service level, paging packet delay level must be limited. In this paper, we consider static and dynamic multiplexing schemes for paging packets, and develop an analytical method for calculating paging packet delay and relative power consumption levels. Using this analytial method, we investigate the effect of network parameters on the paging packet delay and relative power consumption levels.

End-to-End Delay Analysis of a Dynamic Mobile Data Traffic Offload Scheme using Small-cells in HetNets

  • Recently, the traffic volume of mobile communications increases rapidly and the small-cell is one of the solutions using two offload schemes, i.e., local IP access (LIPA) and selected IP traffic offload (SIPTO), to reduce the end-to-end delay and amount of mobile data traffic in the core network (CN). However, 3GPP describes the concept of LIPA and SIPTO and there is no decision algorithm to decide the path from source nodes (SNs) to destination nodes (DNs). Therefore, this paper proposes a dynamic mobile data traffic offload scheme using small-cells to decide the path based on the SN and DN, i.e., macro user equipment, small-cell user equipment (SUE), and multimedia server, and type of the mobile data traffic for the real-time and non-real-time. Through analytical models, it is shown that the proposed offload scheme outperforms the conventional small-cell network in terms of the delay of end-to-end mobile data communications and probability of the mobile data traffic in the CN for the heterogeneous networks.

  • This paper describes new sense amplifier with fast sensing delay time of 0.54ns and 32kb CMOS embedded SRAM with 4.67ns access time for a 3-V powr supply. It was achieved using the sense amplifier with multiple point sensing scheme and high speed bit-line scheme. The sense amplifier saves 25% of the power dissipation compared with the conventional one while maintaining a very short sensing delay. The SRAM uses 0.5.mu.m double-polysilicon and triplemetal CMOS process technology. A die size is 1.78mm*2.13mm.

  • 최근 무선 랜(WLAN : Wireless Local Area Network) 기술이 사용자에게 편리성과 유연성을 제공함에 따라 무선 분야에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 무선 랜 어플리케이션의 웹 접근과 같은 표준화된 인터넷 서비스에서부터 멀티미디어 비디오 및 음성 서비스와 같은 분야에서 매우 엄격한 지연시간/처리율이 요구된다. 따라서, 무선 랜의 효율을 높이기 위해 AP(Access Point)들 간 트래픽의 공정하고 효율적인 부하의 분산이 중요한 문제가 된다. 본 논문에서는 보다 나은 로드 밸런스를 달성하고, 네트워크 리소스 사용률을 증가시키기 위한 AP 선정 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 부하 측정과 AP 선정의 주요 파라미터로서 활성화 검사 패턴과 네트워크 지연을 사용한다. 또한, 상향 링크/하향링크 지연을 관찰함으로써 AP 트래픽 부하를 예측하고, 로드 밸런스를 통해 링크 자원의 효율성을 극대화하기 위해 예측 결과를 사용한다. 제안하는 기법은 NS-2(Network Simulation-2)를 이용하여 SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) 기법과 비교하였다. 제안한 기법은 전체 네트워크의 처리율이 12.5% 향상된 것으로 나타났고, 상향링크/하향링크 지연 시간은 36.84%, 60.42%씩 감소되었다. 또한 제안한 기법은 전체 네트워크 처리율을 증가시켰으며, 비디오와 음성서비스를 우수한 품질로 제공하면서 상향링크/하향링크의 지연 시간을 감소시킴을 확인하였다

Contention-based Reservation MAC Protocol for Burst Traffic in Wireless Packet Networks

  • In this paper, centralized access control and slot allocation algorithm is proposed for wireless networks. The proposed algorithm is characterized by the contention-based reservation. In order to reduce the collision probability of reservation request, the base station calculates and broadcasts the transmission probability of reservation requests, and the wireless terminal transmits its reservation request with the received transmission probability. The scheduler allocates the uplink data slots based on the successful reservation requests. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithms can provide high channel utilization, and furthermore, maintains constant delay performance in the heavy traffic environment.

  • In this paper, Tele-Test System for ASIC Design is constructed. It consists of the server, and the clients. The server and clients are implemented by Java. Using Java RMI system, the remote access via information network is implemented. In this Tele-test system, fault simulation, test pattern compaction, test pattern generation, and path-delay fault test generation services are implemented. All service can be peformed parallel by network access.

  • In this paper we suggest a dynamic quota allocation mechansim for B-ISDN(Broadband Integrated Services Digital Network) subscriber networks. The quota adaptation decision based on the number of cells in the transmission queue is made distributively by each node in the ring network. This mechanism provides both fairness and efficiency for it enables each node to adapt its quota under asymmetric traffic condition. The simulation results show that substantial improvements in access delay time and throughput can be achieved with this algorithm.
