인쇄물의 색인과 초록은 통제어나 시소러스를 이용하여 합의된 방식으로 작성되지만, 웹 정보자원의 색인과 초록은 인간의 작업을 거치지 않고 자동으로 작성된다. 웹 환경에서의 색인과 초록은 인쇄물의 색인${\cdot}$초록과 비교하여 어떠한 과정을 거치며, 어떠한 요소들을 포함하는가에 대한 연구는 매우 의미 있는 일이라고 본다. 본 연구에서는 휑 정보자원의 수집, 색인 저장, 검색의 과정을 살펴보았고, 6개의 웹 검색 엔진을 통하여 색인과 초록작성에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 17개의 색인 요소와 11개의 초록 요소 그리고 2개의 메타 요소를 조사하였다. 전반적인 웹 정보자원의 색인과 초록에 대한 경향과 전망에 대해서도 살펴보았다.

Because most of the medical literatures published in Korea are not listed on the foreign famous index or abstracts journals, it is necessary to index and abstract them domestically. Increasing number of medical literatures makes one final to refer to informations needs without nay secondary materials. Recently, any indexes and abstracts of medical literatures are published, but there are no tertiary lists. Because of that fact, it is difficult to know the status quo of the bibliographic works for the medical literatures in Korea. In this research, status quo of indexing of abstracting of articles in domestic medical journals were investigated and systems or contents of the indexing an abstracting in Korea were analyzed to suggest the standard of bibliographic control.

ISTI는 국내에서 발간되는 과학기술 학술논문을 가공해서 데이터베이스로 구축, 제공하고 있으며 그 규모는 2010년에 100만건을 넘어서고 있다. 규모가 늘어남에 따라 체계적인 주제 분류 등 검색의 효율화를 위한 부가적인 가공이 필요하다. 전통적으로 정보를 가공하는 방법으로 초록화, 분류, 색인, 추록화 등을 혼용하여 사용하고 있다. 이 가운데 색인과 분류는 특히 정보 검색에 유용한 도구로 활용되고 있다. 이 논문에서는 기 구축된 과학기술문헌 데이터베이스에 분류 코드와 색인어를 부여하여 검색효율을 향상시키기 위한 방안을 제안한다.

Word processor having the functions of a typewriter and a computer together have been used as a powerful tools for office automation. The purpose of this study is to find out the possible areas of the word processing a n.0, pplication in the library operations. For the study, the general concept, developmental process, structure, functions, kinds and suggested a n.0, pplicable areas in the library operations of word processor were investigated. Then, the cases of real a n.0, pplications of word processor in the library field were examplified. In conclusion, the areas where word processor can be of benefit to library workers can be summarized as follows, 1) Orders of books and periodical acquisitions, 2) On-line searching, and storage and editing of input as required, 3) Production of catalogues, and abstracting and indexing bulletin, 4) Budget control, circulation control, and serial control.

This paper briefly elucidates the journey of Library and Information Science (LIS) journals published from India since 1912-2016. The study explores that 196 LIS journals have been produced in India during the past 11 decades covering the period from 1912-2016. The states namely New Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and West Bengal have contributed significantly andNew Delhi emerges as the most productive city among the others regarding the production of LIS journals. The study reveals that out of total 196 journals, 15 have been indexed in the University Grants Commission Academic Performance Indicators List and 41 have found their place in national and international indexing and abstracting sources.

사내(社內) 및 자사관련(自社關聯) 외부자료를 효율적으로 관리하여 사내(社內) 직원(職員)에 제공하여, 사내(社內) 보유정보를 공유함으로써 효과적인 기업활동(企業活動)을 지원하는 사내(社內) 데이터베이스 구축사업은 크게 개념설계, 데이터베이스 포맷설계, 색인초록작성, 데이터베이스 운영 및 유지보수 등의 단계로 분류할 수 있다. 본고(本稿)에서는 사내(社內) 데이터베이스를 본격적으로 구축하기에 앞서 사내(社內) 정보유통지원체제 및 활용자원 등을 체계화시키는 개념설계 방법을 제시하고자 한다.

ISO/TC46은 ISO 전문위원회 중에서도 가장 오래되었으며, 특히 도서관, 도큐멘테이션 및 정보센터, 색인 및 초록서비스, 문서기록, 정보학 및 출판 등과 관련된 표준화 활동을 하고 있다. 그 산하에는 모두 SC4, SC8, SC9, SC11의 4개 분과위원회가 있으며, 이들의 최근 활동을 분석함으로써 '정보와 도큐멘테이션'에 대한 국제표준화 흐름을 개략적으로 살펴보았다. 그리고 이 가운데 특히 SC9의 정보식별을 위한 표준화활동과 관련하여 ISBN, ISSN, ISMN, ISRN, ISRC, ISAN, ISWC, ISTC 등 8개의 국제표준번호들의 특성과 식별체계를 비교 분석한 후 <표 1>에 나타내었으며, 이들 번호간에 상호 관련성을 <그림 1>에 제시하였다. 또한 국제표준번호제도에 있어 전자자료에 대한 번호부여, 구성부분에 대한 번호부여, 작품에 대한 번호부여 등의 문제점과 전망에 대해 논급하였다.

현재 정보화의 물결은 모든 분야에 지대한 영향을 미치고 있다. 디자인 분야에서도 정보의 단순 사용 단계를 벗어나 체계적으로 디자인 정보를 유지, 관리하여 지식의 축적에 힘을 모아야 할 때이다. 통신 속도의 발전과 압축기술의 발달로 문자 정보 중심의 데이터는 이미지, 동영상 등 멀티미디어 데이터로 발전하고 있으며 이와 관련한 효과적인 정보 활용을 위한 여러 방법론이 필요한 시점에 이른 것이다. 이미지 정보의 가공은 기존의 문헌 정보 위주의 정보 가공 및 축적 방식에서 탈피하여 이미지 정보의 고유 특성 및 활용에 적합한 방식을 연구해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 디자인 이미지 자료를 분석하여 디자인 이미지 자체의 정보 요소를 추출하고 시스템에 적용한 사례를 통해 디자인 이미지 정보의 자료 색인과 구현 체계를 제안하고자 한다

This paper demonstrates the comparative analysis of the similarity and difference between Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) and social tags. Both types of metadata have the same purpose - that is, succinctly abstracting content of a given document - but are created from heterogeneous viewpoints. The former MeSH terms show the aspects of publication related professionals, whereas the latter social tags are from the perspectives of general readers. When both types of metadata are assigned to the same publications, do they consist of different nomenclatures reflecting the heterogeneous viewpoints or are they similar, since both metadata types describe the same publications? Social tags are also compared with family terms of MeSH terms in the given MeSH hierarchy, so as to understand the specificity of social tags, related to MeSH terms. Lastly, given the fact that readers assign social tags in casual ways without any restricted vocabulary, we tested how many social tags contain consumer health terms, which are familiar to laypeople. Through these comparisons, we ultimately aim to examine how much the highly controlled publication index reflects general readers' cognitive understandings and stress the necessity of general readers' involvement in the publication indexing process.
